I never knew that UN Squadron was based on a manga (Area 88), and I had no idea that there was an OVA as well. This is just........kick. ass. Love the storytelling and the animation (and to think this was originally done in 1985). Thank you SO much for uploading this.
@@shimmycash This is true, although with that said, I feel the OVA version feels more refined and carries more emotional weight. The manga is good too and all but it can be very goofy and inconsistent at times, the "Wolf Pack" squadron having some special super power ability "corkscrew of death" attack was really weird and out of left-field lol.
Random question: is it possible that the voice actor playing the character at 41:50 (the guy in dark blue) is the same person who dubbed Beerus in DB Super?
Man, i wish there was a an Act 4 where Shin arrives and shoots down enough planes so the enemy formation withdraws Besides, some of the planes like the F-14A have a lot of fuel. Mickey and Shin would've made it to the Balkans or Italy. Saki's Kfir, on the other hand, would've ran out of fuel above the Med. Btw why didn't they use flares like Mickey in Act 2???

The F8 Crusader plane implied in the opening minutes had four 20mm cannon IRL, two on each side. I wonder if they would really have been strong enough to wreck tank armor… 🤔
