The Quivering (1998) [DOS PC - CD] Longplay {Part 1 of 2} 0:00/2:11:47 Language: English USA 🇱🇷 1998 The player moves around in a 3D area with a 360 degree rotation. 7:40 - Opening Intro (Movies)
Wow what a bizarre little gem (??) of an adventure game. Very charming and like the atmosphere but obviously frustrating to play ha ha. Those mazes ... ugh. I feel for ya. That scene around 1:50:00 mark was a bit intense! Look forward to watching the rest and also want to check out Spud now. Forgot to mention but death scenes are cracking me up, and also I don't believe I have ever seen such a weird inventory system + the ability to have a third person (creature) use inventory items. So odd.
I will admit this game does have some charm with the cheesy voice acting and horribly outdated graphics, but god damn is it just all around frustrating to play. It’s almost nothing but trial and error, like even ten times moreso than most 90s point and click games.
By the way... in Britain they are called *Pub* not Tavern ;) also haha good old early 90's voice over who are all none professionals with monotone voice, probably ask their family members to do the voice or mostly the developer themselves did the voice, same with how Jon Hare from Sensible used to voice his own games
I doubt games like this will ever get a Steam or GOG actually alot of British small to Medium studio games are lost forever maybe due to missing source code. Just like Blade Runner
and about that Blade Runner lost code ... they had the whole game in 4K renders , and it took them 2 Terabytes ... and they had a flood or something, so they had to move studios ... and some HDDs got damaged ... since it was one of those released games , and the Milking down culture of remasters was not so popular in 1997 ... they said "meh who cares" even if they could use a Data Retrieving firm ...
@@hfric yup and now they realized they fucked up due to invention of Steam and GOG and also Blade Runner will always have a niche cult market fans.. They missed their big time with BR 2049

13:40 The fact that Imps are required to save your game is just cruel when you consider that in Spud! You could save without consequence. But here? Nah! You gotta track down one of these suckers when you wanna save your game! And once you're in the fair area which is the last act you gotta play the slot machine which will cause unfair death galore!
This was played from my CDs bought back when this was sold in stores ... aka this is not the steam version
Is there much of a difference in the versions that it has to be specified?

Your soul is wander in endless maze hehe
The conversation with the priest reeks of someone who's never spoken to a priest before lol
This game art style is as if Larry the Cucumber was turned into a human and sent to Silent Hill as penance for his sins
The game certainly has balls when it comes to conversations with non-hostile NPCs
Welcome to the 90s , when all games where like that ... before we hit 2014 when the gender studies Sjw twatters ruined gaming

for more lulz here is how this game was Promoted th-cam.com/video/wkId1CnNjVM/w-d-xo.html ... with the dev team singing
This game gives me the quivers
I love the old school CG artstyles. Even if our main protagonist is wearing a crop top and lowrise jeans.
That's the 90's in a cheesy nutshell.

I like how sometimes the sounds and the music turns into earrape randomly.
Makes you wonder if they remember to put in a warning for those wearing headphones. 🤔

Holy cow this game has a butch of old movie reference.

I never heard of this game before
It was probably for the best.
Yes neither does anybody else
How delightful
liminal spaces as hell
You think after Spud, where a kid freaking dies from tons of deaths. This sequel would be A LITTLE better.
That's like saying From Software should make a game that's more casual.

At some point I fell really sad about Happy Tree's fate
He was very charming, charismatic and cheerful 😔
I miss him already

Imagine someone making a quivering fan-game and made it slightly more scarier but staying true to the actual game.
