Underrated film, and yet also the best Poseidon Film.Most information of the ship we’ll ever get, good acting, WONDERFUL soundtrack.Sadly it’s not available to listen too, that disappoints me.But it’s better than Poseidon (2006), but the same level of drama and greatness of The Poseidon Adventure (1972).

A really good remake. I would recommend, to those who haven't seen it, watching the 1972 original version. It is a true cinema classic. I won't compare the two films because each is capable of standing alone. It is worth keeping in mind when watching the '72 movie that it was all filmed before the advent of CGI.
Yeh saw that and the Kurt Russel one last night... oldies but goodies... surprised nobody got messed up on some chair leg or something evil when they all flying all over the place

I got so excited when I saw the Poseidon Adventure title because I love the 1972 version and have been looking for it high and low and can't find it. I was disappointed to see that this one isn't it but I'm going to give it a chance and I hope it's really good! If at all possible could you share the 1972 version? 100% I like the original one better. I think this one is worth the watch if you take it as a different movie. ❤
Back in 1972 when the RMS Queen Mary was the Star of the ORIGINAL "The Poseidon Adventure", Co-starring Ernest Borgnine, Stella Stevens, Jack Albertson, Shelly Winters, Red Buttons, Roddy McDowell, Gene Hackman and none other than Leslie Neilson as the Captain of the SS Poseidon, you knew that there was gonna' be one heck of a Movie at the Drive-In Theater! However, when you steal the name of an Oscar-winning Blockbuster, that had the highest-grossing Box Office earning for the year 1973 of $125-Million, you don't deserve having any viewers; how DARE you steal a Classic-movie's name like that!

The best poseidon movie because one: its more realistic two: it builds up the characters so you get to know them better thee: its just very fun to watch
If you like character building you should love Stephen King. Personally i don' t care for it in many movies but King will do it copiously often lasting into 3-4 hour productions with nothing else pretty much.

I love how they kept the Christmas tree ladder like in the original Poseidon Adventure! So many fun "Easter eggs" in this movie, like how they named the captain after the author of the book 😃

After watching this film, I've become claustrophobic and scared of the ocean (especially on the part when they swam underwater). I was only a kid then. My older sisters didn't know that I was watching with them because I pretended to be asleep. 😂 This is the version that I like.
Morning After was the theme song.
I almost drowned in a swimming pool when was a kid I've been afraid of the water ever since so I understand where you are coming from

Watched this movie in 1972, with my eldest brother. excellent movie I have thought of it through the years and saw this on youtube. Is a good remake but well worth watching. Would love to see the original that I saw with my brother. Excellent movies back then no use of swear words, that I really enjoyed.
A good remake, especially for a 2 part tv movie. Solid actors, tho the rewrite is very cliche in the 9/11 aftermath. Still a good watch, but I still prefer the original from 1972.
Of the two remakes, I actually liked this MADE FOR TV one over the big budgeted film release.
fun fact:this is the only posideon movie to not sink because of a tsunami
Technically a rogue wave, not a tsunami. Tsunamis are only near land and Poseidon wasn’t near land in either the 1972 or 2006 films. Rogue waves are in open ocean and are far more dangerous because there’s no land to break them up.

I don’t understand a lot of the hate this movie gets. Yeah the acting is a little off and the graphics aren’t the best, but it’s a pretty solid story and very compelling. An interesting twist on the original tale.

Baldwin was a sea Captain in 1949 competing with Captain Flinn through Bass Strait & thi eye of thi needle between Tasmania & thi mainland. Baldwin taught at Loreto; & had an apartment he rented out through Turks in Marrickville in Sydney, Australia.
Baldwins a bit of a Jew, & it sounds like a Nei Camp in Syria
So fun to see Adam Baldwin, but I terribly miss Firefly and "the man they call Jayne."

So my idea of reason that Poseidon from 2005 capisize is:
Modern Cruise ships are prepared for Cross Flooding: Left comp. sinks and to make left list less they sink right one. So idk how tere are many options(like bc of Storm, by terrorists) theese doors were closed. So it happens:
-bomb explodes on the port(left) side
-water floods some food storage and preparing areas on the port side
-Martin spots the ship slowly tilting
"The ship is sinking"
-water gets to more open port areas
-ship with a lot of water, people, no stabilizers and things falling capisize
-it does is faster and faster bc of all weight on port
-ship is turned over
-water that ship have collected Goes into some corridors and areas up the water level
-windows, doors and other hole gets more water
-ship sinks by bow

good film great stars
This remake fails the minute the ship rolls over. With the large hole in the hull now above the waterline the air bubble that kept the ship afloat (in the original movie) would have rushed out of the hull and the ship would have sunk in minutes.

The first one with Shelley Winters was.... I think the best and then the second one with Kurt Russell was pretty good and this one I don't care for the beginning with all the violence right now but I'll give it a chance. Lol

to the people who trash this movie : you don't appretiate stuff , because this movie has many refferences to te book and EVEN the darn author of the book it makes this film a good adaptation of the book set in a time period filled with paranoia from terrorism , the War Of The Worlds did the same thing effectively in 2005 the same year , this was they year of the disaster movie flick based on such fears
