The craziest thing that nobody mentioned about how bad the men’s royal rumble is that Kofi Kingston’s annual false elimination spot didn’t go as planned and he got eliminated immediately bc of it.
That really should be the death of the Kofi spot. It's become such a contrived thing now

There was the Xavier spot in 2019 which was also dreadful and they didnt even do one in 2020

Already said it in Adam’s video on PFK, but Sammy/Tay/Kaz vs ATT from Double or Nothing was my favourite bad match this year. Sammy and Tay being at the peak of fan hatred created a 5 heels and 1 baby face scenario that made it an ironic masterpiece imo. Loved the pop Kaz got for ditching Sammy as well!

A lot of Rhonda's problem is that she has never been good sport about losing. People forget that she refused to show Holly Homes respect before the mma match she lost. She has like zero charisma outside of her physical prowess
This year's royal rumble felt more like a battle royal than an actual royal rumble.

Was Lesnar predictable? I remember being shocked and disgusted when Lesnar showed up (and questioned Booker T guessing Lesnar was actually going to win during the pre-show).
@@TravisBroski you must not read dirtsheet or pay attention to the story because it was pretty obvious after Day One it was Lesnar vs Reigns champ vs champ at Mania
I think it’s a disservice to just how bad the men’s rumble was to put it alongside the women’s one. The latter was a little bit dull but had a couple of fun moments despite a predictable winner. The other was one of most boring, heatless and pointless wastes of time ever seen in WWE history

Worst part about the omos vs Lashley for me was half the arena had the idea of getting drinks at the same time so I missed part of edge vs AJ
absolutely no match was worse then the "ric flairs last match" tag match, I've never been scared of someone genuinely dying in the ring before that.... worst match of the year and one of the worst matches of alltime man

Surprised to not see New Day vs Brawling Brutes from Wrestlemania on this list. That match made me so angry.

Probably because of everything else that's happened this year, the match is VERY forgettable.
As someone who was watching mania alone in a house with people asleep, the Vince/Pat match was deeply, deeply uncomfortable to watch. Like aaaalmost makes you wanna turn it off and go rethink your hobbies and interests.
I've not reached the end yet, but I can't see how any match can be worse than Ric Flair's LAST match.
We all thought he had DIED mid match because he just laid there not moving for like like 5 minutes.
The chip ladder match also suffers from person can win but they gotta stand there and refuse to win while looking at the ramp or in regards to rush slowly do your entrance while someone is currently climbing the ladder
I think that match deserved to be much higher on the list like everyone said because like Luke said I have never seen such a silent crowd for a finish in the ladder match and also wasted 6 guys ot felt like when Brock won MITB
What if they paired Omos as the heater for two high flyers? Free bird rules and tornado matches when possible. He is a classic spectacle performer. Hide their weakness. Show case their strengths.

Bit weird that Marina vs Jade made the top 10 but Athena vs Jade didn't.
The Marina match might have been bad but it was on TV at least and I can forgive that. Making me put down money and giving me a 4 minute match between Jade and Athena that could have actually been really good I thought for sure would mean it would get into the top 10.
28:47 I watched the Ronda debut match a few years ago, and it actually brought me back into wrestling for the first time since childhood. It's an incredible match. Too bad how far Ronda has fallen.
Jade Cargill wouldn’t be so bad IF they didn’t push her as this unbeatable god and she wasn’t holding the TBS Title hostage. So many other more talented women have had to lose to her.
Ronda Rousey has had an AWFUL year. And she’s suffocating the entire SD Women’s Division. Poor Liv Morgan was so damaged by Ronda no selling her and the terrible booking. Everything Ronda can do, Shayna Baszler can do, but BETTER!!
They've really just fumbled the ball repeatedly ever since Baszler got to the main roster. It's so unfortunate, since she's excellent
I do believe that Ronda needs to step off and learn to be less stiff. Not only that get someone who can talk for her because she shouldn't go anywhere near a microphone.
Also I think if you let Shayna Baszler just do what she does best and maybe put her with a manager who can talk (although she's not the worst on the stick.) then you could easily have the most dominant woman in wrestling.

The 2022 Men's Royal Rumble match hurt my soul. Not only was the winner predictable, but it was just boring to watch through and left little to be desired. The royal rumble match is always the match I look forward to every year in wrestling, so having to watch this train wreck of a match after watching all the old rumbles was just pathetic and disappointing.
I believe the worst match of 2022 was Vince McMahon vs Pat McAfee. It was a massive joke. Meltzer gave it -2 stars.
In ring wise yes but it was so bad it was funny because of all the Austin stuff later
Bianca vs Bayley at crown jewel not making this list is crazy.
As someone who did watch the Vince v Pat match alone, it was just awful to watch. Took forever and poor Pat had to just feign injury for an uncomfortably long time.
I thought it was grand for it, the shock of Vince actually wrestling made me not mind anything that happened. That segment was the most sports entertained I’ve been this year outside Zayn/Knoxville from the same show

The men's rumble felt like the rumbles you play in a 2k game and you got to pick your entry number.
Oh that jade vs marina match was awful. They didn't do anything to stand out during that 3 minute match that was the only women's thing on a entire 2 hour show. During those 3 minutes Vicki was yelling into a Mic and nyla was just talking a bunch on nonsense🤦. Jade vs rose might have been one of the dumbest builds to a match all year. Honestly a lot of jade Cargill matches should be on here because they are quite awful that you remember them. Some on the top of my head were jade vs AQA nearly every spot was botched & missed time to the point the Mic was picking spot calling from both. Ruby vs jade tbs title finals even a vet like ruby couldn't carry her to a good match & I kinda laughed at the finish because jade wants to go for a top rope jaded but before she can ruby taps her knee and says the second rope is good enough🤦😂. And Athena vs jade had no business being in a already long ppv being this short & mediocre. That might have been Athena's worst match and once again another really good worker couldn't save the match. Another terrible match this year was some how ishii vs evil wrestle kingdom 16. On paper it sounds like a good match because both are good workers that previous had good singles & tag matches together. But you turn evil heel who I don't like as a heel and put him with the house of torture who does a lot of overbooked Vince mcmahon non sense made the match really awful.
Flair at 74 shouldntve been wrestling considering he has a GODDAMN PACEMAKER that's what has me concerned cuz my grandpa is the same age
One thing that just irks me about the Ronda liv feud is they did the same thing with shanya and liv and work so much better. They did the build up to clash with shayna acting so much better than liv, then we get to clash at the castle and liv proves she is better by out wrestling baszler. Hell the hot crowd started very cold for the match that no one was looking forward to, then as the match went out they got super invested and exploded with liv retained. I thought theirs was the best women’s match on the card over the 6 women tag
Rousey started to wrestle like Lesnar, not doing much, trying to coax off her name, except she doesn't have the aura that Brock does. Brock looks like a megastar monster and can get away with a lazy match because of his presence. Ronda can't.
I went to AEW Dynamite on 11/02 at Baltimore. That Jade Cargil vs Marina Shafir match was not good at all. I was glad when it was over.
When the Bloodline finally implodes, give Paul Heyman to Ronda. They genuinely don't need him now and she's the sort of person he can actively sell as a Champ.

Ronda and Shayna should definitely become a tag team. You could hide Ronda behind Shayna and other experienced upper-midcarders, others could do promos instead of her until she's ready. Also, if Bayley would win the main title, they could've started potential Ronda v Bayley feud via Damage CTRL.
Im kinda glad that my initial appraisal of Rousey is panning out to be true. Always hated her look, her 'character' what little there is, and her goldbergesque entitlement. Her matches have always been sloppy and low effort and the only 2 good ones were where Sasha played Hart to her chemically blinded Smith and the Flair match where she got beaten to hell - but that wasnt actually good just cathartic.
I forgot about the Mens Rumble and Super Shane.

My worst match of the year was Joey Janela vs. Matt Cardona from GCW's WRLD On GCW. A match that insulted my intelligence & I'm not a very smart person & completely turned me off to GCW. That entire PPV was a flaming bag of pooh.

I wouldn't have had Bianca win it two years in a row. That's one of those special milestones that shouldn't come within the first 5 years of the gimmick...granted, the Men's Royal Rumble started in 1988 and Hogan won it in both 1990 and 1991, then HBK won it in both '95 and '96, then Austin won it in both '97 and '98.
But I think that's one of those storyline beats that should come later. Perhaps have a Heel win the Rumble, do a Double Turn at Mania with the Winner of the Rumble losing the match, have her spend the next year trying to bounce back, then have the Rumble be her "shot at redemption", have her win it the second year in a row and then win her match at Mania, taking the belt off the same person she couldn't beat the year prior. Sounds like a good outline of a story that would probably be ruined in the execution.

Cargil vs Shafir was so bad because a really problematic TH-camr got called out by everyone in AEW for talking down to the women in the company, and instead of wrestling a good match to prove him wrong, Nyla Rose came out and did her own live commentary on the match and talked about eating chips.
AEW marks are the worst wrestling fans.
There seems to be a mixup lads, somehow Vince vs Pat match ended up on the worst match list, the Stunner makes it the best match imo😂😂
Just wanna add... Y'all must of had your TV turned down, because I was there at All Out for the ladder match and the MJF devil thing was loud and definitely went different than it appeared on TV

It seems that there is an odd one out in all of these matches, cough cough Ronda Rousey.
I don’t think Vince will return personally. SRS was asked if he could see Vince return & he gave several reasons why it likely won’t happen & I do think those factors will prevent his return to power.
1 The Alligators still against him. Someone in the company is leaking this to the Wall Street journal.
2 Those on the board can block him from voting. Reportedly the board were looking to remove him from his role that’s why he retired.
3 No one wants him back not just fans but talent higher ups & shareholders.
4 Even with majority voting power if he did try to get in it could lead to lawsuits from shareholders that would severely damage WWE image & cost then millions.
5 Networks & sponsors reportedly don’t want him back & WWE would lose millions to billions if he tried to return as they would pull out.
Honestly Luke I don’t think Vince will return for those reasons it would damage the brand if he did. He may want to come back but I don’t see him coming back in a power role maybe a cameo down the line or a hall of fame induction. That’s about it

The men's Rumble deserved to win, and I'm going to predict that the Royal Rumble wins worst PPV/PLE. When the rumors about Brock and Ronda winning started I figured there was no way Vince could resist having the two most famous MMA fighters win. It was actually a smart call, I applaud him for making it, but unfortunately that killed my interest in the event entirely and I didn't watch. I did giggle at being proven right.

Casino ladder match: good match…bad ending
Terrible, terrible ladder match. Staggered entrances for a ladder match is dumb as hell. And there was no memorable spot. The obvious MJF ending was purely awful.
So based on the math. Worst wrestler of the year was Ronda.

I remember I was streaming the royal rumble to my friends, and I fell asleep during the mens royal rumble, I didn't think it was possible to fall asleep during a royal rumble but it was just that boring

Eddie Kingston Vs Jericho Barbed wire everywhere match was when the car hit the wall moment for me with AEW and took a while to get over it
But boy howdy that men's rumble was awful and sad
When you start a rumble with AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura and no one cares cause you know they ain't winning or even close to winning
As well as the biggest pops of the night was for two non wrestlers says alot about the state of the roster on his they were used then booking wise
Yeah, Vince vs Pat was a bad match but the fact is it was an impromptu match per se, as we thought despite those reports there was no way it was going to happen but it did. Itt only lasted a couple of minutes thus didn't bother me that much.
The Men's Rumble on the other hand was quite bad and just absolutely forgettable. It didn't help matters that Lesnar was the champion earlier that night and lost only for him to do the Reigns 2017/Becky 2019 (she replaced Lana but same thing nonetheless) spot and enter despite being in a title match earlier. I watched the match knowing he won it already and it was an hour of my time I won't get back.
I watched this video and then the great matches second because I prefer to have bad news first then good news because the good news second makes the bad news seem less worse.
I can think of two but I think most people probably haven't seen them so they're probably aren't going to make the majority of people's list but Michael Nakazawa vs some jobber on AEW Dark and Sarray vs Lash Legend on NXT Lvl Up
I think the Royal Rumble was what made me drop wwe for good. After RR Luke said "people say it's the last time but then they watch again". Well, not me, not Mania, no SummerSlam, not Survivor Series not nothing. And i'm happy that you now share that it was deeply hurtful for the roaster.
Ronda would be good if she talks without a script. Just let her talk shit to the fans either with her own words or a script that mimics how she actually feels. A pg13 ronda would be good i feel

Why not, AEW and other promotions would have better action or creative matches. WWE likes to hype matches then if it's disappointing, the pain is more compared to other smaller brands.
Ronda has never been great, but at least she has a presence, the moves, some charisma. But my god she is SO BAD on the mic, and she has decided to stop caring, the results are quite terrible. She is half of the worst matches this year. I mean, she said herself she doesn't want to be here. Well, that's obvious.
Might I add, given that the Royal Rumble is as fun as it is... with them no longer being in arenas, the overall look of the event is not what it used to be.

Hard to believe the Tyrus title win did not make it to top ten as that was garbage. Tyrus as champ is garbage his matches are barely good enough for midcard as is. Then you have allegations against him and how bad of a person he is. Corgan lost his mind there to think this was a good idea and was where the company needed to go. Tyrus is trash and at best should be a mid to low tier mid carder but he should never hold the big one. For gods sakes in WWE his act was more memorable for the Funkadactyls than anything he did. He should go back to being a bodyguard.

Not having it regarding the AEW ladder match, sorry but this argument is dumb AF. Sometimes (for narrative purposes) you need to have a flat, deflating "ending". See Empire Strikes Back or Infinity War for reference. The bad guy won. He gamed the system & he won. Are you expecting to be hyped at that ? You are LITERALLY supposed to hate the end of that match.
Anything involving Orange Cassidy aka Pockets is the worst match of any given year.

I actually really enjoyed that botch. Kofi has been taking the piss with his increasingly ridiculous Rumble spots. The handstand and pogostick chair ones in particular.
It was great to see his "bending of the rules" finally backfire on him, it added some much needed realism to his character, and it made him seem fallible for a change.
It also means when he does a successful one next year it will mean more.
