Recorded live at London's Town and Country Club in March 1992 at the end of their Guaranteed Tour, Level 42 perform to a sell-out crowd.
Formed in 1979, the band gained fame for their high-calibre musicianship-in particular that of Mark King, whose percussive slap-bass guitar technique provided the driving groove of many of the band's hits. The band are also known for the combination of King's lead vocals and keyboard player Mike Lindup's falsetto backing vocals.
I'm a 11 y.o kid and I listen to Level 42
are you from england?
what is your fav song?
You are a good boy :D
You are a smart kid indeed, keep up the good job!
@@Noname-xi7xihim is a Micro Kid, literally :p
Do you have a higher artistical and musical taste
Saw them in Rome on this tour. Brilliant band and criminally underrated commercially.
Absolutely agree with … highly underrated
BEST BAND EVER along with RUSH... :)
UNDERRATED? Da fuck you talking about. OH WAIT. you just discovered them as of late. Because of the fact you didn't exist yet when that song came out. moron.
Mike Lindup's keyboard rig is just insane here ......the talent between him & Mark King is so immense......so underrated
Totally agree with you. I really would like to see specials sessions in TH-cam showing the lot of music advances that Level 42 created. My oldest daughter is 34 years old and the younger one is 4. They are 5, and when we spend some time toghether usually spend a lot of time listening and also playing good music. Level 42 an all its musicians are always present. Love them!!!
The drummer as well
I don't think they are underrated at ll. Musicians KNOW these guys are the REAL Fab 4.
@@michaelb.42112 Thing is though Mate- Mark like Louis J is never on any best bass player list- proper criminal. This Lot are actual underated.

How he plays that intricate bass line AND sing just amazes me.
Genius! It's impossible!
Talent+ hard bass practice= genius!!!
Level 42 reminds me of my life in my most favorite place on earth Capetown southafrica.
Saturday afternoon me and my daughters driving on the n1 from paarl to the waterfront down town.bills are paid and I have r5000 in my pocket .
I don't know what's going to happen but that money is as good as gone right there.its junk food and ice cream and all manner of nonsense.
And level 42 is playing on the boom box
Mike Lindup = legend 👍
I was at school with Mike Lindup. He's the real deal. A lovely person.
Sometimes I wish to be born in the UK during the 70's. To know I'm never gonna experience live songs like this masterpiece, it's pretty sad. But luckily there's TH-cam and other sources to find great music. Respect from -91 born man from Finland.
They still tour mate
Go check em out! They still sound as great as they did then. Im going to see them for the first time nov 2023 here in the netherlands.
Nice man, I use to travel to Suomi to visit a daughter and a son living there. Actually I have very good friends there, in Tampere, Hollola an Helsinski (hope spelling is ok..). I do really your tremendous country. Greetings from Chile!
Haha Carlos, I had my 21st birthday in Tampere!! Great summer of 95, heatwave and all ! 😊
One of the bands that Sir George Martin liked, that's saying a lot.
one of the few bands whose live versions are actually better than the studio recordings
xWeasley yea, the Wembley-version of Children Say is the best.
Yep. This is good but that was faultless.

Lucky you, I would give anything to meet Mark Kings and the other boys.
But especially Mark King 🌟😘😘🎸🎤🌠
I agree with that
You are right ...never gets old
This song is 30+ years old. That says a lot.
I tuned in here because this song reminds me of my best friend that passed away about 14 years ago. This was his favorite Level 42 song. I wish I could relive the times we spent listening to this album. 👌🏽
Love this song and a brilliant album Running in the Family
i like the way King plays the intro of the song in the Jaco Pastorius style , then goes into his slap bass style . first time i ever heard hand slap or hand wacka bass style was by Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham back in the late 1960s
That intro is just gorgeous
Sonos the outro..
Gary Husband on drums!!!!....awesome
Gary is so good. Badass keyboards too.
Pffft! You should have seen the whole concert....Mark subtly jumped his ass more than 20 times for him overplaying. He didn't finish the whole tour....
@@itsjustme8947 Wow! Didn't know that! So who stepped in for Gary in that case? I noted he returned to the band for a bit. But they have an equally enthusiastic drummer now in Pete Ray Biggin.
@@derekporter7658 Neil Conti filled in for awhile until Pete came on board full time.
@@itsjustme8947 Cheers for the info! The band has certainly had a lot of changes since Phil and the late Rowland left in 87. I'd definitely put Gary and Pete right up there beside Copeland, Cann, Powell, Phil Gould, Phil Collins, Nigel Glockler, Burke and the late Neil Peart.
Was at this gig! Lining up outside hearing the soundcheck sent shivers...
Great musicianship on display right there.
I miss the classic lineup....Mark and Mike are still on top of their game right here.
Great performance -the whole band.
Love this song. Very good sound!!
Love this - The start is sublime
love this live performance of a timeless classic. the ending had me in tears. beautiful
This was always a brilliant but massively under rated band. I’d go see them anywhere!
Probably one of my favourites top hits of the band!!💖💥
That comment is exactly what I want to hear , as it means great music & the playing is being passed down from 1 generation to the next , as I never thought that I & all of us would see the day that the Music Industry was all but dead & flatlined at the end of the 90s & as when the year 2000 we saw a drastic loss in anyone willing to try & make it as a solo artist or in a band but I think there was more going on than just seeing less people playing as a lead singer & musician...
I honestly never thought I'd see this actually happen as we all thought Music & Music Industry would always be there for us & each new decade saw an innumerable amount of new acts joining in & trying to beat those for the Number 1 possition against those who'd been in the Music Scene your many years...
No disrespect meant towards covers bands , as it was always a good way to earn money , but trying to break into the Music Industry was were many wanted to do but because of all those innumerable amount of acts could see new acts having to do even more to try & be signed & many great musicians I knew dropped that way of trying to be successful & went to play in covers bands , as they knew they had a steady line up of Live Gigs being arranged & the extra money was better than no money at all...
Even though there were covers bands out when the Music Industry was still a huge money making machine that saw an almost endless supply of new acts that could see them do great within the Music Industry but not anymore & though I'll admit that there are some who would've out now that could see them being signed when the Music Scene was already overloaded with acts already...
But at least there were those willing to take many jobs on any given day to see them raise cash to fund their solo acts or bands & it could mean a long hard & difficult life to go on the road to promote themselves & become successful , but that's all gone now as well , & I never saw this the monumental drop in solo acts & bands coming , as we all thought the Music Industry would never die & that there was always going to be an endless supply of new acts but obviously something within the Music Industry must have been wrong or this wouldn't have happened...
Now we're spoon fed so called acts on car crash TV Shows that predominantly only wants to , if possible , make a single act make it in today's Music Scene...
Just to give you a taste of how bad it has become it only takes a solo act or band to reach a Number 1 Song by selling 10,000 copies were as it used to be millions that saw acts go to the top & reach a Number 1 Single...
At least I can leave on a positive since knowing this kid is now 13 years young & listens to Level 42 & having this passed down from generation to generation will hopefully see the music will always be with us...
.....
His fingerstyle playing is just as tasty.
I specifically checked out this video, to see the finger style bass playing.
Mark's bass sound was the best it ever sounded with these first-generation Alembic Mark King Signature basses. I still love the Cocobolo. I got to demo the 5-string version once. Major neck dive saved me from seriously considering the still-considerable "used" price. I've always wondered if the 4-string version had any neck dive at all. Never had a chance to try that one. Great video. Thanks for posting.
Caramba que baixo foda!! Que versão ao vivo fantástica, melhor que do estúdio!
This is one of my favorite songs . By Kevel 42. This tells a story of a CAUTIONARY TALE!!!!.
to see them play this live - in person - was a dream of mine. they never made it minnesota as far as I know. darn.
still love this album
GUARANTEED.Brilliant.
I'm revisiting this music because it reminds of how talented Mark and company was and how much I miss this music today. Is there anything like this today? Not really anything like it of it's time to be honest. Rare to have a Bass Player like Mark with thumb slapping chops as a lead man that can sing while laying down difficult bass-lines. I'm having TEARS of JOY. Peace
Agree so much. They're still touring. New tour in UK in October. They were and are the best still! How does Mark King do it?!!
Peace back to you wherever you are in the world!
These guyts are legends
What a bass !!!

This songs immediately puts me good jubilant mood instantly, I dunno why.
So guilty of not appreciating how damn amazing this band were back in the day. Wish I had seen them live, would have had plenty of chances back then.
Forever respect for the musicianship and pure talent ❤️ Thank you ❤️
Wow! Isn’t it amazing to see true musicianship in pop music! I remember this on VHS back in 93. Wonderful band! I have seen them nine times live. They always deliver quality. Nice one guys. M
I was there in that crowd somewhere! :)

Mark and Mike are both some of the best musicians of all time, I love them lots. ✌️☺️
My All time favourite Original Since being in my last year at Secondary 87/88 Ive always remembered this Song and the inspirational video of this song filmed in France/Paris both yourselves Mark King And Mike Lindup great and original soul/rock duo lead of this group ! Still going strong in 2019
I love this music and 42
I think it's just your music and that it is not accustomed to because of the craziness of today's metronics but you bring it back and you bring back the love and the swing of loving when you dance and so on and you'll bring back this music with this song and many other that's Joshua Phillips f i l i p s that's not spelled correctly so you don't have to get back to me
Simplemente brillante.

Cuando el bajo además es el vocal... eso tiene mérito musical añadido. Un bateria formidable, guitarra, teclado impecables... Super Level!!!

From the days when musicians could wear headbands unironically.

Unbelievable.
I guess they videotaped this song in a format for us people who had small, square screen tvs : - )
Mark King is a monster 😨😨😨
懐かしい🎵いいね👍
at the start of the song he bends down . Is he making an adjustment to whatever hardware below him to get the Jaco Pastorius effect ?
😍😍😍
Je t'aime mark king
