James singing and playing a bazillion riffs and putting on a good show in front of thousands, is still a mind bending feat. He changes his voices to accent and emphasize certain words and there's a huge transformation on his vocals from 1983 to the present. Still is one of the greatest frontman of the modern times.
@@AaliyahCapili and yes, he has been trained by an opera singer around the 1990s Black album and still use that casette tape to warm up his voice. This led to a dramatic shift in his method of singing and projecting
In fact, if you listen to James from Metallica’s first two albums, then listen to stuff from late ‘90’s, you can tell the difference. This is mainly, in the beginning, James really don’t know how to “sing”, so he growls and uses his vocal cords a lot…To the point he blew out his vocal cords in 1992…Then in 1995, he blew out his cords for the second time. That’s when his doc told him if he blew it out again, he won’t even talk properly, much less sing! So he got a lot of classical training and he became more nasally to protect his cords.
This is the song I wish I had understood when I used to listen to it as a teen. But not only do the lyrics tell the story of the diabolical nature of drug addiction, but the music is a chronology of the craving, high and withdrawal of addiction. The anxiety and anticipation created by the starting intensity, followed by a soft soothing melodic euphoric guitar solo depicting the high, only to return to the intense desperation to "fix me". And the fact that this clear reality eludes so many who fall prey to the cycle of addiction, myself included, is heart wrenchingly mind boggling.
It is awesome that kids today are liking this song. I was playing this in my garage band with my friends when I was 16 years old and now I'm 45. Metallica is a great band because they are heavy as f but also very MUSICAL. Thanks for video. Cheers!
S&M (an abbreviation of Symphony and Metallica) is a live album by American heavy metal band Metallica, with the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Kamen. I figure your opera roots could go into overdrive with this one. And I do suggest the S&M version of One
James learned how to sing properly and safely after basically blowing his voice out in the 90’s. He had a better voice for the songs at the time, more powerful, but there was no way it was ever gonna last and when his voice went he knew he had to give up his old style and learn how to sing properly. He still throws some growl in here and there today and you get a feel of the old James now and then which is cool, but he’s saving his voice now lol
I'm glad he made that adjustment. Last time I saw them live was during the hard wired tour, at met life stadium, and they still are one of the tightest, and most impressive live acts there is
Great reaction! Because of my being Italian (and, like almost all Italians, I love opera) I raise my glass to your future as a singer and make a "brindisi" (quoting Verdi's "La traviata")! And don't stop listening to rock and metal! Greetings from Italy...🎩
You will love this.. this live/ music video is from the Metallica "movie" called "Through the Never". It's basically a 2 hour live Metallica concert that's a music video. This is just one small part from that movie. You said you like that it's a live performance with a music video at the same time, you'd love the movie, that's all it is
In rock, there's a world of singers. Any singer realizes that if they want to perform night after night, they have to take care of their voice. In rock and thrash, many singers are not gifted... but many times they can pour the feeling of the lyrics in an operatic way, not their voice sounding operatic, but them being able to portray and act the lyrics, the case of Metallica and Megadeth. But in metal and symphonic metal, you will find more trained singers. Examples: Roy Khan from Kamelot, and one of my favorites, Messiah Marcolin, you can listen to him in "Therion feat. Messiah Marcolin Kali Yuga I &II", the plus in Therion is hearing the sopranos in there. And Roy Khan in "Elizabeth I, II & III" by Kamelot.
You did great with this reaction. I have been a long time fan of Metallica. They got me through some dark days I find I still relish listening to their music it never gets old to me. My favorites are the ones they did with the San Francisco Symphony. I recommend you give one of the songs from that performance a try. It only adds to it having all those other instruments included. I love to sing their songs only wish I had some actually training in how to use my mouth, voice, breathing and the like.
@@AaliyahCapili You're very welcome. They did a lot of their biggest songs in that concert. One, battery, nothing else matters, of wolf and man,for whom the bell tolls, sad but true, enter sand man, wherever I may roam,no leaf clover, memory remains, fuel, bleeding me, etc. ^_^
From a 50 year old METALLICA Fan, who grew up with their music: Thank you for that reaction, it's always wonderful to see, how even young people like you get hooked by this amazing (and in my opinion BEST!) Metal-Band of all times. So, for the fact that you're an Opera Singer: Have you ever reacted to the Band NIGHTWISH from Finnland? I think it could be something for you, I'd suggest the song "Ghost Love Score"...perhaps you give it a try. Stay safe, healthy, and always as you are - best regards from Germany, bye. :)
I saw the Monster of Rock tour in 1988 and Van Hagar was the headline but I would guess well over 1/2 the 60k were there to see Metallica. When this song came on all you could see was 15 year old hair banging away in unison. It was amazing.
The song is about addiction, so the "master" is a drug, the word master fades to the transition because that is a metaphor for someone succumbing to their urge and the drug responding,. Then it changes back to the hard music which reflects coming down off a drug. It's pretty clever.
A couple of the best voices in heavy music imo are Till Lindemann of Ramstein and Glenn Danzig of Danzig. There's a cool live video of Ich Tu Dir Weh by Rammstein that would be good for reacting. There's no video but I recommend giving Tired Of Being Alive by Danzig a listen. Enjoyed your reaction.
James has lost the lion roar-like voice he once had in his younger years, which is completely understandable after 40 years. The studio version is much better than then live but back then they didn't produce any videos for their music-except maybe some live stuff. BUT huge kudos for picking Metallica's masterpiece song. Its the single most difficult song I ever learned on guitar.
Metallica, believe it or not was just starting, in 84 and wasnt well received , yet only by their fans , with no videos till early 90's, only bootlegs of performances and we the fans gave these great bands life, NOT the record labels, they were into image and hooks, but the real fans in demand wanted bands to be recognized , queensryche/megadeth/slayer/venom/Triumph/even Rush wasnt being played on MTV very rare.So may bands i left out, you would nt believe!!
Keep in mind, that this is from the movie "A Metalhead's Journey"(Or, something along those lines),as it was released in 2020, or 2021. So, they are doing this, when they are in their 60's! And, since you mentioned their on stage playing, I should mention, that they were 1 of the longest running live player's, back in the 80's and 90's, as they never stopped touring, for over a decade. If I remember correctly, they didn't stop touring, for something like, 12yrs. They were relentless to perfect their stage performance, instead of just laying around and going to the studio, once a while. The only time that they were not traveling, was for a few day's out of the year. And, I have seen them 4 time's, starting with their "And Justice For All..." tour, back in 91'. Now, if you really want an intense Metallica song? Then, I would suggest 1 of my favorite song's of all time, Metallica - One. The drum solo in the middle, towards the end, is epic!

You gotta listen to Ronnie James Dio. He is one of the healthiest and powerful vocalists you can hear from rock/metal. 1977 Mistreated in Munich is one of his best performances.
Since your reacting master of puppets by metallica try to react cemetery gates by pantera. This song is very unremarkable and best guitar solos and vocals is so goosebumps. 🙂☺😊
Many things can be said of Metallica, not all complimentary (no, I haven't completely forgiven Re-Load, lol), but their utter mastery of the art of songwriting cannot be denied! P.s. Aaliyah, if you want to get a look at how these high energy solos are played, the most well filmed are the videos for Awakening by Unleash the Archers and Time by Wintersun. I wish someone would take down this Master of Puppets video. It has nothing to do with the song and takes away from it. If the video is not marked "official," I would recommend listening to the album version (since that is what most fans would have heard and listened to over the years) or a good concert recording (not difficult with Metallica). Good reaction on your part though.
I’ve been a fan since 85 and must say great reaction. Their bass player from their 1st 3 albums Cliff Burton was classically trained musician. RIP Cliff had an affinity with Bach and taught Kirk the harmonies that make Metallica’s sound. Fade to Black live would be a great next song. Thank you for such a great job on your videos

Give themselves a moment to search for a video of you singing. It's up you you if you like it or not. (TH-cam friend). That's ok. But just. Give her a try. Give her 5 mins of your time so she can show you what she does.
This, this is not even close to what it should be. I've been Metallica fan since 1985-1986 and this is just bizzard. WTF is this?!. Look for Metallica seattle 1989 gig. that is the best one ever.
Metal music is broken up into hundreds of subhenres. And most Mets bands play cross genre. Metallica is Thrash Metal but by the 1990s they switched to playing Heavy Metal.
Bravo Aaliyah for reacting to heavy metal - so different from opera. Intriguing to somehow combine both styles in a single performance - artistic dissonance.
This is something that bands like Nightwish and Epica have been doing for decades in a genre they invented called "Symphonic Metal." I suggest you check them out. You might be surprised at how well the genres mesh.

Thanks for the heart reply! ☺️ The 'Official' version is Good. But, it has repetitive choruses. The version with the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra is much better. James uses some vocal techniques.
Love..!! check out "Queensryche - take hold of the flame live in tokyo 1984" being a Opera singer you might find this interesting, it's like Opera ROCK, "Geoff Tate" the lead singer has some insane pipes. amazing voice..!! hopefully you'll break it down even more if you do an reaction to it. Love your reaction with Metallica watch it twice =D
Thanks so much Mr. Seth, thanks for your recommendation too, i will check it out🌺have a nice day🤗
More Metallica 🔥🔥🤘🤘
I will definitely do🌺😍🌺
This came out in 1986
Thanks for sharing, much appreciated💕
Omg Aaliyah! This is so cool! Great job! We haven't spoken in ages, need to catch up some time in the future! ❤
You should check out some of Metallica's performances from their S&M2 concert!
Awwwww thanks so much Adi, we should definitely catch up soon. And i’ll look into those performances🌺
You gotta listen to Ronnie James Dio. He is one of the healthiest and powerful vocalists you can hear from rock/metal. 1977 Mistreated in Munich is one of his best performances.
Thanks so much Mr. Jack for sharing😍😍😍i will check it out too🌺
Aaliyah. Удачи тебе твой преданный фанат DIAS. made in. KZ.😂👍😘❤❤❤❤❤⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
Thanks soooo much Mr. Dias🌺🌸🌺have a wonderful day always😍
Since your reacting master of puppets by metallica try to react cemetery gates by pantera. This song is very unremarkable and best guitar solos and vocals is so goosebumps. 🙂☺😊
Thanks so much Mr. Jason for sharing, i will check it out too😍

😍😍😍
Thanks so much mommy♥️
Many things can be said of Metallica, not all complimentary (no, I haven't completely forgiven Re-Load, lol), but their utter mastery of the art of songwriting cannot be denied!
P.s. Aaliyah, if you want to get a look at how these high energy solos are played, the most well filmed are the videos for Awakening by Unleash the Archers and Time by Wintersun. Both are staples of reaction channels, someone should have given you the links. If not, say gimme! 😁😁😘😘💖💖
Thanks so much Mr. Luis, nice to hear from you again🌺, may i have the links please. I will check it out too🙏thank you

Don't let your eyes drift only to the left hand, especially with Wintersun...
This has got to be a fan made video .bcuz Metallica 'd true live performances don't have footage of the outside or other stuff
Ohhh thanks so much for sharing Mr. Alan🤗
@@AaliyahCapili ur most welcomez
He is not as good as his prime he was a beast back then but he is fcking great considering the fact he sings this songs for 40 years. Listen this song from 89 Seattle concert you'll see the difference.
Oh thanks so much Mr. Jack for sharing, he is really so awesome♥️🌸♥️

The original versión is so Much better
Thanks for sharing💕
Hello there how you doing?
Great reaction to MetallicA 🤘 master of puppets live but you should reacted to the MetallicA 🤘 master of puppets live in Seattle 89

Can you react to Bring me the Horizon - Sleepwalking? :)
Their singer has a very unique voice
Thanks so much i will check it out🌺
@@AaliyahCapili very cool! 😃
Thanks so much for sharing your insights Mr. Sheldon, much appreciated💕I will definitely check out their other videos too😍
I’ve been a fan since 85 and must say great reaction. Their bass player from their 1st 3 albums Cliff Burton was classically trained musician. RIP Cliff had an affinity with Bach and taught Kirk the harmonies that make Metallica’s sound. Fade to Black live would be a great next song.
Thank you for such a great job on your videos
Awww thanks so much for your support and for sharing this about Mr Cliff🙏 I really learn a lot from all of you🌸I will definitely put Fade to Black Live on my list🌸thanks sooo much😍
@@AaliyahCapili When Metallica saw the group BabyMetal, the one I have been suggesting they said they were "astonished by their awesomeness" My suggestion is Headbanger-Legend of 1997.
I really hope from the bottom of my heart that. Every single one of these people that are reacting along with you while watching and hearing f. Metallica.
Give themselves a moment to search for a video of you singing.
It's up you you if you like it or not.
(TH-cam friend).
That's ok.
But just. Give her a try.
Give her 5 mins of your time so she can show you what she does.
Oh wowww thanks so much for your kind words and appreciation. From the bottom of my heart, i am truly so touched. Thank you 😍😍😍
If you review Metallica, audience will come.
Thanks so much, i will definitely do💕
Pancakes go 😂😂😂
🥰
Treat yourself to a 🎸 aaliyah and enjoy why not 👍
Thank you very much
This, this is not even close to what it should be. I've been Metallica fan since 1985-1986 and this is just bizzard. WTF is this?!. Look for Metallica seattle 1989 gig. that is the best one ever.
Thanks for your feedback and for sharing🌸
Metal music is broken up into hundreds of subhenres. And most Mets bands play cross genre.
Metallica is Thrash Metal but by the 1990s they switched to playing Heavy Metal.
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Gerard💕
Thanks so much Mr. Ron😍🌸😍
@@RandallMorris222 yes Nightwish and Epica, they are soooo awesome😍
Opera and metal go together like the separated brothers they are. Metal is the opera of the streets. Proof, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, Prometheus th-cam.com/video/EcEehsK1B7E/w-d-xo.html 🤘🤘😉😉
@@RandallMorris222 Thanks Randall. Checked them out, liked both and agree with you.
you mean your an eighteen year old training in opera. Not a trained eighteen year old. You still have a ways to go until your full potential is out
Thanks so much for your feedback, i truly need to learn a lot more, hopefully one day i can reach my full potential and my dreams too😍🙏😍i am presently studying opera studies but had classical voice lessons since i was young but i have soooo much more to learn, though i know learning is indeed a continuous process but i really hope that with hard work and perseverance i can hopefully achieve my dreams😍🙏😍
