    Those look like very nice tanks, but in all fairness there is no need to stack 55g drums. One can construct a rack to hold them on their side and they sell valves that screw into the 2" npt outlets. Put a second valve at the top for a vent. I have a rack I got from a factory auction that holds 9 drums this way. Works Great.

    As a suggestion: Have you ever thought of (as an option) of having a "water level indication tube" to indicate the water level inside the Storage Tank. The problem with those type of Water Storage Tanks is that its difficult to see in low light levels how much water is in tank. I thought that I might throw out that suggestion.

      Also the valve system that is on the large tank should be on all smaller models.

    Good info, price checking these containers for water storage and this is a fair market price. At the end of the day how much is your life worth? You can't survive without water. This is a much more professional video than others I've come across. I will keep you guys at the top of my list when I put my order in.

    It just blows my mind at the cost for these barrels. I understand the importance of it but $600 for a barrel imo is insane.

    To fill the tank from a water spigot wouldn't you need 5 million pounds of force? The pressure of the water coming back out would be vastly greater than what is going in. What am I missing here? I'm no science major. Just seems like common sense it would not work. But the expert dude on this video says it works. Someone explain this to me plz.

  • @Trevoc2

    The premise that people use 50 gallons of water per person per day is incorrect when it applies to an emergency situation where water is static and not constantly running. Its our habit to be wasteful and let water run when washing ourselves or dishes etc. We wont be doing that in a crisis situation, and thus, not need 50 gallons per person per day. This figure is more like 3 gal's per day per person normally and less under special conditions like very cold weather.

    Ok, so lets go to ANY facility that handles or stores these barrels full of there intended product. Now where are those barrels kept? Because it sure as hell isnt on the floor.

  • @SureWaterTanks

    If you factor in re-hydrating freeze dried foods, the neighbors that don't have any water at all, and that you'd like to wash your hands and brush your teeth once in a while, then 3 gallons isn't too far off the mark.

    these are cool, but I don't know where I could possibly put one. can't put it in the garage where it gets 40 below zero, no basement, the bedrooms and the closets are already overcrowded, and I don't think it would make a very good TV stand. guess I'll have to stick with 5-gallon jugs in the crawl space.

    I am curious do you add anything to the water? I wanted a 55 gallon just to be safe and we usually add 3 drops of bleach per 2 liter of water to keep it good for 2+ years. Can you do the same inside of a 55 gallon barrel without causing problems?

    Can a sure water tank be plumbed into the main supply water line for residential homes in such a way that the water is circulated constantly? Once filled the normal draw on the water supply passes through the tank and into the house, thus keeping the tank water fresh and providing an emergency supply should something happen to the source (for whatever reason the source water is cut off)?

    • @tompeebles6273
      @tompeebles6273 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I looked into this awhile back, I was told that these tanks were not designed to be under pressure (35psi I think ) and therefore could not be plumbed in without the thing leaking. That was only 1 companies opinion. I didnt look into it further.

    • @randomicon918
      @randomicon918 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They aren’t made to be plumbed but when I considered getting one a few years ago, I read that someone put in a float valve like a toilet, which fills it up when the water level drops down. Doesn’t give solid PSI to run through a house, though.

    when starting preps water is the first prep then food then shelter then protection then stock piling seem like a cheap start for a good prep if people dont like the 600.00 barrel they proable would think am nuts for spending plus 1200 on my simple pump but i will always have water one way or the other do you have the very first prep you should have done in securing a good water source people i dont like the idea of my preps being out in the open my self i like preping but i dont want it to be noticed i like the idea of concealment so if i went the tank rout i would put it in the ground just like i would do a rain water catch system i guess it is all in what you want

    what happenes if you don't rotate the water out regularly? Can't yo just boil it?

  • @HughTexJudd
    @HughTexJudd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    although I agree with the idea of being prepared for a natural disaster, this is advising tremendous waste of water (back in 2009). if you plan on storing this much water you're better off plumbing it so that you are drawing water from these storage containers during your normal daily use. Its a little more money, but you're not number hundreds, or thousands of gallons of stored unused water that was saved for the slight chance that you might be struck by disaster that took out domestic water services.

    • @Kitchdmn3
      @Kitchdmn3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tex Judd when you rotate every 6 mo to a year you could use the “old” water to wash cars, water garden, other outside chores etc, so it’s not wasted.

    • @randomicon918
      @randomicon918 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These can’t be pressurized. My old neighbor has one and every year or two, they water their garden with it every day for the summer and top it off after watering. It rotates out the old water just fine.

    Duckyistrippin.... Why such aggressive hostility about a water tank? Makes me question your mental/emotional stability. HDPE doesn't leech BPA, and THAT was the major issue with plastic/water storage i believe, and nobody will mount direct onto concrete anyways... so let's all just chill out, if you dont like the water tank, don't buy it. but I think it's fine.

  • @SureWaterTanks
    @SureWaterTanks 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You continue to bring up scenarios without factual relevance. Which "facilities" are you referring to? Give me their names and I will call and ask why they don't put the barrels on cement. I met with a company last month that makes & sells 50,000 barrels a year. They agree that there is nothing to worry about. Listen Ducky, you have the internet. Go find the facts and share them. If you can't, then stop spreading factless rumors. Time to face the music, leeching from concrete doesn't occur!

    I’m not quite sure how to respond to such vulgar and unprofessional language. I assume that you’re a chemical engineer and can enlighten us as to how lye migrates through cross-linked polyethylene on a molecular level. There is no scientific data or rational for what you are claiming. I am happy to change my opinion but I’d like to see the data first. All you can find is a bunch of people on various blogs who don’t know any better claiming something that they heard from someone else.
