De Ligt is also an intelligent boy, he went to the same (pre-university) school in Amsterdam as Bergkamp. De Ligt also speaks fluent German and Italian. And of course he learned English, French and Latin at school.

De Ligt can defend forward like he did at Ajax. That's what Maguire was not able to do. That's why De Ligt and Martinez is a perfect duo. Everyone at Ajax knows.

He also knows our managers philosophy and style of play, meaning he can slot straight in hitting the ground running.
Mathjis De Ligt is undoubtably a United player. The leadership, the personality and the willingness to get stuck in is so important. De Ligt and Martinez is on paper a really interesting pairing. Not to mention we've got the potential to sign Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte. This feels like its performance focused instead of a brand signing.
His tackle against Angel Correa while playing for Juventus in the Champions League is the best example of the defender he can be. Absolutely fearless and relentless.
Those injuries did not start untill he got played out of position. That's important information that get's left out when his so called injury liability is brought up. He did not have these injuries at Ajax where he played in his natural position.

From everything I’m hearing about what was going on at the club, with players basically telling Ten Hag that they will train how they want and play how they want, I’m excited to see what happens this season when he’s got proper backing. I reckon this Sancho situation is all smoke and mirrors also, it shows strategy and intelligence on United’s behalf. I hope Sancho is sold, and sold for a decent fee, it would really represent a huge shift at the club.
United need to sign a sweeper who has pace to compliment de light. Both he and martinez are front foot defenders so united will need someone to cover for them when they leave their position. Diamonde is a good option.
I'd sign him as a fresh defender that doesn't have the "losers syndrome" of previous players in the last 10 seasons. Then to have a winning mentality, we need goals aplenty...and that's why it's imperative to sign Ivan Toney who will complement Zirkzee and Højlund.
NGL , I think de Ligt is a very good player, however, he did not even start in our national team! I wonder if you guys look at him in an overhyped way.
As much as I'm a fan of De Ligt, I don't like the injury proneness of his last season. It's a lot of transfer budget to be allocated on a player with injury issues. Why else would Bayern sell a talented young defender.

It would all depend on injuries. If he came and was always available, his talent and ability will shine. If he misses lots of games like Varane, Bailly and Martinez, it will be a failure.

I heard that our top physios left the club. That's a good sign. INEOS can get some great physios and I hope that it would go well for De Ligt and us.
