    Thanks Jeff. I just got some wheels a few weeks ago & now I need to repaint them.

    Jacob. We'd probably steal wool the inside and see. A lot of times that will mostly come off. If it is badly rusted then use some 320 paper and Bumper Chrome paint on them. The back of the wheels are really hard to see on a magnum.

    Would it be easier to use painter's tape and then use an Xacto knife to trim out the black area? That white mask look like a lot of messing around.

      Not really. The cut to fits are a lot easier to deal with when you are doing four Magnums.

      @@AutoRestoMod I got 'styled steel wheels' on a 65 mustang i want to paint the metallic grey parts similar to these magnum wheels project of yours. It's not so different but I been looking everywhere for the stencil kit for that but no joy. Any ideas?

    Bravo; Rustoleum is the best wheel paint you can use; as long as you prime first;

    I am having an issue with the centre cap on my right rear Magnum 500 wheel. I noticed the fancy portion of the cap was gone after a short dive. Chrome part with horse. I got two replacement ones from a wheel refinisher. Put one on and went for a drive. I got back it was gone. What do you think happened? I am nervous to put the other cap on.

      It could be a couple of things: the caps could be faulty or damaged. It could be an out of balance wheel and the vibration caused it to come off. I have see folks use epoxy to glue the cap to the retainer spring clip.

      Use the same stencil kit, paint the wheels completely silver first, let them dry, scuff the black areas with a very mild abrasive (Scotch-brite) pad then blow them off with clean air and lay the stencil and paint.

      Nope a good car wax is your best bet and best done on the day you buy them.

    Please Clean before scotch :) else grease and grime will be "grinded" further in before paint .. Iron-X is great for removing the Brakedust build up .. spray let work for 4 mins clean with hose .. degreaser and THEN use the scotchbrite :)

    NEVER use steel wool, far too agressive. Blunt scourer wet with a detergent then use a premium metal polish to clean off rust and grease.

      That is a good solution LDN! We've used 0000 steel wool for years on chrome and never had an issue. But we will try your idea
