    Pretty good review in general, got the engine issues right pretty much. However, I don't agree on two things: The airbags don't leak. I've never ever ever heard of anyone who had to replace a strut on their car - unless they damaged it offroad or something. Compressors can go, but that's about it. The air suspension on the Cayenne is super reliable compared to almost any other brand. Secondly, while rust issues are not bad - there are some. One common place is the seams on the rear doors.

    I have bought a base model 2009 cayenne brand new and don't have any problem during the 11 years that I have owned it. The only compliant I have is the maintenance cost is very high in terms of expensive parts and labor cost at a porsche dealership. The routine 20K, 40K, 60K checkups can cost a bundle. A lot of autoshops do not want to service Porsche. Unless you can find a reliable and reasonable autoshop or comfortable enough to do your own work, it is a very expensive car to own as a used car.

    FIRST off i wanna say great video but to all listen up.
    i puposely bought a 2005 cayenne S with 157k on the clock cuz thats what i was lookin for.
    i would never buy a low mile one of these. if u get one with high miles you can rest to sure that all the recalls have been done and it has a lot of new parts on it,
    or trust me it never would have made it to that 156k mark without some trouble. second i ran the vin number the dealer confirmed!! all of what a thought, all recalls had been done. the thing runs great!..... now it has 211k on it and i can still whole shot AMGs. look for the ones with high miles.... if u buy one with low miles betcha nothin was done 39k, i wouldnt touch it. also run a good full synthetic like LIQUI MOLLY 5w30 plus a engine treatment cylinder filler by liqui molly as well just poor it in the oil smoooth as glass now had it up to 151 mph didnt miss a beat..oh lol k&N filters and went from bosh to NGK plats the engine said ahhhhh thats better now i can breathe.

    I’ve done over 300,000 miles in various cayennes. My favourite is the gts...but the one I now drive is the 3.6 v6. It’s a great compromise and I’ve done many 2000 mile trips from Turkey to London. There’s just less to go wrong and you get ok mpg. Strengthen the prop shaft, they will go after 100,000 miles if used like a Porsche. Watch the boot struts. If you turn the heat up to max the lcd display fades!!

    • @mattmatt9971
      @mattmatt9971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow. impressive. well done man. I am currently considering a 100k km mileage 955 V6 3.2 Cayanne S. Any suggestion on what should i look out man?

    • @garsimmulholland4984
      @garsimmulholland4984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Check boot struts hold the boot, if not £200 job.
      Check prop shaft has been changed, £800 job WHEN it fails.
      Front windows may need the mechanism replaced, check both windows, if they grind its £80 each.
      Engine is pretty strong just use the best fuel and oil, I know plenty of huge milers..
      Gear boxes are good.
      Air conditioning can fail in some vents, diy job £20 any vent that fails.
      Check carpets aren’t damp = it means drains haven’t been unblocked, electrics will go with this.
      Door corners rust because people hit them. No rust anywhere else.

      The 955 Cayenne came first in 2002 shortly followed my the VW Touareg in 2003 and AUDI Q7 in 2006 so the Porsche Cayenne is the OG here and the VAGs borrowed the basic shell and some of the drivetrain but the V8 engines in the Porsche are unique to that model only. VW & AUDI used their own 4.2 FSI V8 engines although majority of the VAGs came with the Oil burners 2.5 five pot and the 3.0 V6.

    Overheating was not the issue with the V8's.

    Hi bro
    I planned to buy a cayenne 1st model, which one is the best model? (Less problems)
    3.2? 3.6? 4.5? 4.8?

    • @differentcarreview-dcr
      @differentcarreview-dcr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi
      the 3.2 is the most reliable engine you can choose, its not very powerful but its very simple and with regular oil changes it can last 400 000 km, but check for a short rattle noise at cold start which will indicate worn timing chain mechanism
      the timing chain system can be worn after 200 000 km, but it can last much longer than this too, however this depends on oil changes and also on luck, on the other side it can be worn in other engines too after this mileage point so its something you have to keep money for anyway
      then preferably buy a 2006 model since before this year there are more often cases or worn front differential, some bearing in it can get worn and cause a humming/growling noise from front of the car, so definitely check for these strange noises
      then check the propshaft for play, the center bearing support can be worn
      and occasional electronic gremlins can pop up
      but overall the body, the suspension, gearbox and the whole drivetrain is very well made, and for the price they are selling these cars you get a lot of car for the money, but its definitely good to know a good independent mechanic if you cant fix the car yourself

    Is the only issue coolant with the V8 engines .
    Maybe nobody has thought of upgradeing the coolant lines in a proper way besides the factory.
    There must be a bwtter way of doing this.
    If the engine does not cool down enough.obviously you will hear pinning noises comeing from engine its normal.
    As the chevrolet cruze also have this issues.
    Becouse there engines are based on heat .it creates heat and is prone to blow oil coolers.but the only fix is a external oil cooler.which means 2 oil coolers on 1 enfine.
    So im thinking maybe the factory just slapped the engine together in a cheap way for porsche and never thought of a upgrade on the coolant side of things as the 2004 V8 suffers with bad coolant leaks.
    It can be manufactured or done properly as people whi have modified these vehicles for better HP must have come up with a ever lasting solution.

      the later year - the better: which means that this engine was made until 2006 I think, so finding a 2006 model would be ideal
