Man Richard is a good operator. Its good to talented and skilled friends! The building is looking amazing Nathan and it was good to see Bruno out there helping out and treasure hunting a bit! I'm going to be down for a few weeks with some medical stuff I won't bore you with but watching as much as I can. All the best my friend.
One of the hardest working guys on TH-cam and another great video. Thanks. In this one, you said it might be too dark for us to see the unlit back of your new building. Nope, not with the new camera. Lighting as phenomenal.
Thanks for sharing with us Nathan, you have a lot going on and a plan to stay busy all next year too. Going to have lots of great videos coming . Stay safe , Fred.
You are really going to enjoy having a workshop to do all the maintenance and storage you need. It is so nice to have a place to do all those under one roof. Congratulations Nathan. Look forward to the rest of the activities to finish it up.
Watching your buddy there made me think…around here, we need to encourage a little of these gamer kids to get into excavator work. They already have that highly trained hand/eye coordination, I think the skills could transfer pretty good. Well, it’s a thought!
Good video Nathan. Your 'friend' Mr. Richard was a good choice of operator to work on dealing with the water run off around your new 'barn'. He made an excellent job of clearing & grading. The plans for the use of the building sound first class. I hope it all works out well for you. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
Nathan, where I live in South Texas, a yard of concrete is running between $120 and $158 a yard depending on the PSI of the concrete. We have numerous concrete companies which helps to keep the cost down.
Nathan that was an awesome video. That operator you hired really was good. He did an excellent job. I’m all excited to see the log cabin build. Take care and have a good one. 👍❤️
With the black roof it's going to be hot in there in the summer. I put a 4x4 fan with louvers in the gable end of my pole building. It really helped with summer cooling.
Richard sure has mad excavator skills, a joy to watch. Your excavator was right for the job, too. The new building looks great. Congratulations. Earlier you mentioned that the budget was stretched thin so you wouldn’t pour concrete for a shop floor, and here at the end you stated you had another expensive project, a log cabin. Which should we believe?
I paid $150/yd in Selmer Tennessee 4 months ago. In 1973 I paid $16/yd in Southern California. Union wages for a construction teamsters was $6.90/hr back then.
Great video Nathan, your buddy is a good operator, and you’ve provided him with a great machine to show off his skills. I love how your mind is always ticking over, and thinking ahead of what you want to accomplish. I can only imagine how much you have to spend to achieve your goals, so the saw milling is an integral part of your life, we all love the array of work you carry out on your farm, but we know you have to do the core part of your business, in the sawmill department. Leave yourself time for what makes your business grow. Just a bit of advice from a longtime admirer of your channel. 👍🏼👍🏼
I think a nice bowling alley would be nice too in that new building Nathan. A pretty maple alley milked by you and neighborhood competitions, tv show, championships , burger stand and she kes for bowling shoes. Just sayin. Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
@Nathan .... Price of concrete over the pond here in Wales varies weekly, so wouldn't like to say. That said @22:14 had to chuckle as I thought "Mama Cat" was lining up to take a dump in the fresh soil !!
Good work around the building. I saw the end wall still had a hole up top and wondered if you were thinking of putting in a window? That floor looks like battery acid damage. Glad you have the room you need for your your equipment and a nice place to do work. Log cabin sounds GREAT! Take care, jack
Nathan,it’s a quality building that will be used for a lot of things but you’ll be out of the elements year round and will last for years to come 👍✅😮😊❤
Nathan, I enjoy watching your videos even though I have no desire, or energy, to do all that you do. However, you ought to finish a few projects before you start on a log cabin. For example, the siding on the chicken house, the last door to your barn, and everything you need to do to get that new workshop usable. Just some unwanted but friendly advice. I do enjoy your camera angles and editing. I appreciate that it takes a lot of time to get the cameras set up and put these videos together. You keep making videos and I'll keep watching them. Just as long as you don't mind me chuckling when you announce a new project. Take care and I'm glad you didn't blow away from hurricane Helena.
Great video! Here's an idea for another T-shirt, put a graphic of a big rooster on the front with lettering "Nathan Locator" Reminding the viewing audience that Nathan is nearby.
It looks like you don't have any kudzu around your farm. You are very fortunate! And I bet that messed up area of concrete was caused by the corrosive effects of rabbit poo from the previous owner's multitude of bunnies.
Manage the log pile! If you are purchase logs FIRST IN FIRST OUT plan if demand is there. If you are getting Tree trimmer wood, I would put date and species on each log. The entire plan has to be determined by business demand for the product BUT I would consider having a way to keep tract of logs by date IN and species. With room I would separate logs by species so if something would go wrong someone else could step in and will have a way to understand cost V inventory of your supply of logs. I know value will change with age, condition, and market value.
Jacksonville, FL concrete is $100-150 per yard. Twenty years ago it was $68 a yard. Your machinery makes the job almost easy. Sure beats that manual shovel work.
Cedar ship lap on the gable ends would look cool with the Poplar and around the side garage door. Oh, and before I forget, I highly recommend you name your rooster Corn Pop.
Wow, that soil looks like what I got here in Johnston County, NC, hard as a brick. Every time I plant a new bush or tree, I have to replace the soil. I am building a pretty good-sized berm at the back of my property.
It’s about 250 a yard with fiber here in Florida, I live north of Ocala. So much construction going on here with folks flooding into the state, anything related to building is still high.
Great progress. Looking very tidy. When funds permit, adding a drain pipe system to take and roof drainage away would be a nice to have for sure. Do you have a need for grey water storage for the food plot? 👨🌾
I knew a guy that installed garage doors, called and he had a couple of used doors, I've always been a tightwad. Concrete in KY runs from 100 to 150 a yard. Watched you lose to many logs to rot, you should tag them when to saw them.
Hi Nathan! I enjoy your channel! Depending on strength of concrete, it goes for anywhere between $110 - $140 a cubic yard in Massachusetts (south, near Cape Cod).
Sense you mentioned that before you bought the place you are at now the former owner had rabbits in that space you are building the new work barn in. Most likely the concrete deterioration was caused by the waist from the rabbits. Their urine would have had salts and mild acid in it and if the concrete wasn't sealed properly and kept clean that would have caused the damage to the slab.
In Winchester, VA the going rate for concrete is $150 for 3500 Psi no fiber. 4000 Psi is about $15 more per yard. They did say a price increase is coming at the end of the month.
A lot of 'crete going to road and bridge construction (rt 81 bypass of Syracuse) in central NY. Last spring I heard something in the neighborhood of $300 yd for footing mix at the plant.
I’m thinking that with concrete so high it is time to start self mixing again. Mixer to front end loader to form. Huge savings now days. My dad and I mixed our own concrete in a gas engine mixer. Best wishes and blessings.
In August, I paid $165 a yard. I had six yards ordered. They did tac on an additional 75.00 because I didn't order a whole truckload. I guess it all depends where you live. I'm in the Boston area, and I have a concrete place literally 4 miles from my house (Aggregate Industries)
Get yourself a cement mixer, gravel-sand mix, some bags of cement and pour it in sections. You don't have any big areas. Just a guess a yard of concrete $50-$60 in materials. I have owned a mixer for years.
Mr Google says $120-150 within 20 miles of the plant. I'm in Pasco, WA. I think we paid $120 just after the COVID shutdown ended. As for your slab's spalled area, it looks like salt damage from NaCl deicing compounds. Too much water in the mix during the pour can also lead to this sort of surface weakness. Surface freezing after pouring is also a possibility.
SE NC concrete is going for an average of $175 materials and $125 labor to form, pour, and finish. I'm assuming your amout included both? So here, the high end is $350 and $275 on a good day? Building is looking great, Nathan. Plenty of room for activities! Stepbrothers.
That flaked up concrete can be caused by salt. We once had a concrete driveway and then we had an ice storm. My dad gets the idea to use rock salt to melt some of the ice so we can get out and into the driveway. The salting went on for a couple of days and when the thaw came, then spring, the concrete started flaking, not to mention the grass dying where the snowmelt and runoff went into the yard!! He didn't do that again!! But he didn't fix the driveway either, he just sold the house and we moved.
Depending on the strength of the concrete, a cubic meter of concrete in Denmark, with tax, is around 250 - 260$. One cubic yard is 0,79 cubic meter (m3), so 1 m3 is approximately 1,27 yards ... giving a yard price of around 206$. You can get it a lot more expensive, but for you purpose, I think this would do. Good luck 👍👍

Rihard did a great job with the tilt bucket . Nathan , you got right man in the excavator . that bank looks nice . Seeya

Richard has a nice touch on that excavator: nice and smooth.
You will fill the building quickly. Thank you for the video, it is a good bit of entertainment !
Absolutely! I have a building and I always recommend to my friends is to multiple it by two. Then add a zero!.
Take your time in the new shop. Nothing permanent until you've worked ther for a while. Plans can always change.
Your video title was right on the money. He has some serious operator skills.
Bill
I run equipment for 30 years and I can tell a good operator when I see 1 Richard is good ,Takes practice You practice and you get better!
180 per yard just poured 3.75 yards Monday . Also check out rock glue for cheap pads .
Just popped in to say hello to Bruno. Nathan you’re a great father.
Nice that your friend lent you a hand with the soil clean-up / excavation around the shop. He's darn good.
It looks like you got the base packed in real good. When Richard was doing his clean - up pass that clay on the bottom was solid.
Nathan that was an awesome video. That operator you hired really was good. He did an excellent job. I’m all excited to see the log cabin build. Take care and have a good one. 👍❤️
121-163 per yard depending on psi. Delivery fee is 120 per truck load
That's in Colorado springs, CO. Really enjoy watching your videos!
Autumn colors from the air, spectacular!🙏 Mom had a cat with the same markings as Cabbage, we called her Patches. 😻 cats rule.🙏
