since i saw the queen(1968) i really want to know what happen to Crystal LaBeija, when did she die, whatever happen to her, also why did Pepper change her 1st name from Emory?
Crystal LaBeija (RIP) died in 1982. I'm not sure as to what the cause of death was , at that time, while transitioning , Crystal just like myself and other of our trans women were taking hormones that were to strong for our bodies at that time (sometimes buying through the black market). Because of this, the hormones may have damaged her liver and other health problems that she had. Peppa "Lolita" LaBeija never changed her name to "Emory", she was born Herman Williams. Peppa was under the tutelage of Crystal, being Crystal's "daughter".
