  • Learn step-by-step how to pair gouldian finches. You can follow our two pairs as they bond, build nests, lay eggs, and become parents. Gouldian Finches are not always the most natural parents so we will need to watch them closely and possibly use Society Finches as foster parents. / birdsandbeyondchannelthe Gouldian finch, also referred to as the Lady Gouldian finch and the rainbow finch, is prized primarily for its gorgeous plumage. It occurs naturally in a variety of striking colors, and is generally differentiated in name by the color of the head. For example, the black-headed, the red-headed, and the yellow-headed Gouldian are some of the available types, though some of the other mutations are distinguished in name by body color. In the wild grasslands of Australia, where they originate, they do not vary as much in color as they do in captivity. There, most Gouldians have a black head, and only a small percentage have a red head. Approximately one percent of wild individuals have an orange head.

    Kindly tell us how to pair Blue Gouldian to normal

    • @BirdAndbeyond
      @BirdAndbeyond  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure thing! You will do the same things you would do with two greens, however, some do not feel that attraction to the blue so once you have a successful pairing, keep them a pair. Ideally, if you have a green male he will be ok with a blue female. If you have a blue male and green female, make sure she can't see other greens because birds are drawn to the biggest and most colorful males. The color variations of the green male are far more contrasting and easier for the female to see vs. a blue male. However, when faced with no other options, she will normally comply.

    should both society finches and Gouldian fiches lay eggs at the same time in order to foster the eggs? can you explain more?

    • @TaraBanks-sp4lo
      @TaraBanks-sp4lo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you start adding eggs or dummy eggs the society’s male or female will think they are there’s then once there’s around 6 they start incubating them. I’d avoid putting them in aviary’s they are notorious nest stealers they are that clucky!!

      DONT

    • @TheHorizon-wn9up
      @TheHorizon-wn9up ปีที่แล้ว

      Once U get blues you'll realise how WEAK and prone to disease they ARE even when one of their parents WAS a split. I had 2 blues pair up by accident when I was still new (had lost 3 of the blue males as I wasn't as educated then THATS how weak they are) and they had around 13 babies over the season. Out of the 13, around 5 managed to make it to leaving the nest. Once left the nest I had done much more research and didn't band them to make sure not to breed them and sold off the hen of the pair. Out of the 6, 2 couldnt fly, one had a longer wing, ALL had droopy wings and by the time it was time for their first malt I was down to 3 of their babies. Anyway winter hit and it took out another and then the other 2 i had to bring inside and they were very weak birds and the longest one lived 2 and a half years. Always breed to a split ALWAYS

    • @TheHorizon-wn9up
      @TheHorizon-wn9up ปีที่แล้ว

      Or ignore me and my advice and learn the hard way. God knows why this lady let 2 blues pair up.

    • @TaraBanks-sp4lo
      @TaraBanks-sp4lo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      DONT DO IT!!!!!! Do RESEARCH on why they ARE so weak now and that’s due to the 70’s so do research yourself I’m not google! The chicks will have droopy wings, genetic deformities, if they even make it out of the nest some won’t be able to fly and the ones that will will either not be interested in breeding and I guarantee will have a short life. This person should not be giving tips when they have 2 blues paired up 🤦‍♂️ breed BLUE to SPLIT blue (Carrie’s the gene but doesn’t display it)

    What kind of doves do you have?????

    • @gacha_noodle6978
      @gacha_noodle6978 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From the cooing I hear it's probably turtle doves. They're a little smaller then a budgie have long tails and come in multiple colors. Depending on color they cost anywhere from $40 to $100+.

    • @mj6962
      @mj6962 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gacha_ Noodle aren’t turtle doves the wild ones? The one in this video sounds exactly like my big white dove Hootie. He was all white but had pigeon like qualities. And you could see a tiny bit of a ring neck although it was still all white as well. He passed away back in January, and i miss him tremendously. Sometimes I think I can still hear him hooting. 🕊

    Do you sell Gouldians? Is so how much and do you ship? I've been looking for some for awhile but don't really want to spend over $100 on a single bird from a finch farm.

    I keep getting your videos when searching Gouldian Finches videos but I also watch for only 20 seconds because I can't hear you. You need to record voice over or maybe buy a mic that sits on your chest.

    What color chicks we ll get by paring red head purple breast green body male + black head purple breast green body female?

    • @TheHorizon-wn9up
      @TheHorizon-wn9up ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on if they are split.... If normal green Gouldians the baby's.. some will have red heads some will have black. Normal body colours just like their parents.
