When I was younger in secondary school, they taught us how to rewire a plug and put in a new fuse so it is something that we learn about when it comes to how plugs work.

Interesting, we never did that here when I was in school, but it's becoming a thing now... I had Woodshop, so we'd make birdhouses, gumball machines, key holders, etc. Also Home and Careers in 5th grade, in that class we got to learn how to make delicious meals. Each pair of students had a full kitchen to cook in, it was super fun 😌

A Panto or Pantomime is a comedy/farce stage presentation based on stories ie: Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Puss in Boots, Cinderella etc. There is the hero usually known as the Principal Boy played by a girl, the Wicked Stepmother played by a man in comedy drag with excessive makeup. There are songs dancing and a lot of audiences participation. The It's Behind You line is a main member of the cast looking for someone or something which is directly behind them and them asking the audience, mainly the children Can you see it? With the It's behind you reply followed by exaggerated sweeps and the hidden person moving to conceal their whereabouts, kids continue to shout advice. They are silly but great fun and believe it or not both British Australian and American stars regularly perform in these Christmas shows enabling price hikes. But its only once a year and there are several shows on TH-cam. 🇬🇧

George Takei, some decades ago, was in Britain for an SF convention, and got to see a panto performance.
He had a word with his agent, and most years after that he played a character in a British panto around Christmas time, and very popular he was.
Then he moved on to be Governor of California.

squash is huge, or cordial it sometimes called, its a cheap way of having a fruit based drink, with plenty of water, you make it, as watery or concentrated as you want, its used alot for children, in there feeder bottles or trainer cups, Or for making home made ice lollies, its comes in many flavours, orange, lime, blackcurrant, mixed fruits, and to many to mention. back in the day of soda stream, we used to use squash instead of the expensive syrups, alot are sugar free also

Squash is 'concentrated fruit juice and available throughout the UK in a range of flavours. Dependent upon the 'concentration', your pour a small amount into a glass and top-up with water. Much healthier than fizzy drinks (sodas in America). Never been to a household with kids who don't have squash in the cupboard. But even as adults, the majority will have a bottle or two in stock...😋😊

Evan I believe has lived in the UK for 11 years and I understand is now a British Citizen.
We have heat pads that plug in or ones heated in a microwave.
The voltage over here in the UK(and I think Europe as a whole) is much higher than in the US and generally speaking you wont find sockets in the bathroom. A light switch may be outside the bathroom or a pull chord inside.
Pantomimes are something you might want to look into as it's not always easy to explain and perhaps react to one after that. Although may be nearer to Christmas or after when they tend to be on.

My daughter and I both have electric heat pads, (I use mine for arthritic pains) but we also have a hot water bottle, which my daughter asked if she borrow when she went to visit *her twin brother* and his partner the other day (I guess as *Julian* being a man and so obviously less likely to be suffering from tummy cramps, hasnt got a heat pad ...so Tegan borrowed my hot water bottle to take with her to use at Julian and Tom's flat).

American toilets = way less water efficient it seems. Hot water bottles are also used for heating beds in the Winter in the UK. Don't use them for too long. A relative of mine had one on her lower back for period pains and it burst giving her 3rd degree burns. I didn't know this when I offered her one when she visited. That Ribena has been made too strong. The less strong the less sugary and then there's the no added sugar version, using added chemicals instead. Blackcurrants are known for being full of vitamin C. We do have grape cordials but they taste very sweet.

There's no need to stand on a plug because the socket has a switch on it so it can be turned off to stop the trickle electric going through into each appliance. So the plug can stay in the socket.

Blackcurrant is much more tasty than grape. I visited the US throughout the 90s, and lived there much of the 2000s. I've had grape flavour "jelly", soda, candy and chewing gum. Grape isn't unpleasant, but it's a bit '2 dimensional'. Blackcurrant, is more interesting. Blackcurrant preserve is delicious on toast, crumpets or 'English muffins'. Blackcurrants are great in cakes. Ribena blackcurrant squash was a common childhood drink. It's lovely in winter, mixed with warm or hot water, and in summer maybe with sparkling water. Mixing different flavours of squash to get an ideal drink was a childhood game among my friends.
We have adult 'cordials', non-alcoholic and less sugary squash. You might enjoy ginger and lemongrass with sparkling water.
*_Lots_* of fruit flavoured British candy (aka "sweets") have a blackcurrant flavour among the mix. UK/European candy don't have the range of US additives. So if you get some, they should be OK for you and your child (we tend to ban additives until they are proven safe, while US allows additives until they are proven to be definitely, unequivocally, undoubtedly, categorically unsafe).
    Best Wishes. ☮

Pantomimes are plays in a theatre, but instead of something you just go to watch, you are kind of expected to join in with it as well, and children are actively encouraged to join in, the lead Male character is nearly always played by a woman and lead female character is nearly always played by a man, the Panto is often based on a children's fairy tales, like Cinderella or Aladdin. And there is generally a Fairy Godmother who narrates the panto as its performed to keep the audience up to date with the plot and keep things moving.
The audience participation part is all about shouting at the stage, booing when the bad guy comes on, cheering when the good guy wins, shouting "He's/It's behind you" when someone on the stage is looking for something..
