One of the coolest Ford's I've ever seen! Love the whole understated theme of the build.
Hi senatorlou II, Glad this one is a Winner for you :-) Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
The '67 is also my favorite of the three. I always loved those vertical headlamps that were so popular during that time period. Great sleeper!

I agree, we had a powder blue Custom 500 when I was little, a high-end one with nice hubcaps and 289 engine.
Jeff is an all-time class act. He never ceases to amaze by taking overlooked or unloved cars and turning them into something truly special.
Well said Demian Kolb :-)
Gorgeous Ford. My favorite body style of the full sized Fords. I love how basic the car is. Nice and clean.
Hi William Brown, Glad you like the looks / design of this one :-) Thank you for sharing, Lou
I love factory sleepers and always looked at the Biscayne as my favorite but it's a tie now! Thanks Lou, awesome, awesome car 👍
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you enjoy this "awesome" x 2 car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Soft-spoken Jeff Schwartz would be my first port of call if I was ever in the market for improving the chassis and drivetrain of an older American car. I suspect Jeff has only scratched the surface when discussing the work that went into preparing this beauty.
Yeah, he was pretty quiet about all that was done to the car. Since he is someone that works to improve handling of the older cars, the reason they start with the chassis, I would have liked to see the suspension upgrades that were done. I am sure there are some pretty impressive horsepower and torque numbers in there as well. That 427 ci engine, with a fuel injection setup looking like a dual 4-barrel carburetor, likely doesn't have the magic stop there.
Hi Andrew Graham, Here's a couple of Jeff builds for you to enjoy, Lou th-cam.com/video/hEk8qFLNJJs/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/Ho1uEifCVBg/w-d-xo.html

Nice guy, nice car. Wonder what compression it's running?. Love the 6 speed, the entire car well thought out. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up. I bought a 67 custom 2dr 289 three on the tree back in 1971, Still own it today. When I was in high school I put 4 barrel, dual exhaust and 4 speed. GREAT CAR !!!!
Hi Dale Ostrom, Glad you like this one, and you' have a great car too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
My absolute favourite Ford. I have a 67 Custom "big six" with three on the tree here in the UK and I adore it. Totally standard and matching numbers with build sheet and purchase invoice from new. Smooth as silk, it's like driving my sofa.

@@loucostabile Subbed and bell hit Lou. I'm looking forward to your videos. 👍
My dad bought a 65 Ford Custom with "Fords All New 150 HP 240 Big Six". This was the first year for the 240 and my dad had nothing but trouble with it. Main issue was with the head gasket. With such a long engine the head would twist apart from the block and oil would mix in with the coolant. However these "teething" problems were soon fixed and eventually the 240/300 Ford six became one of the best engines Ford ever made.
I was a cop in 1967 - I had a '67 Fod Custom with the 428, had it over 150 mph a couple of times. Fastest car I ever drove

Wheels? Can't see the wheels, useless hubcaps, hubcaps are the same as engine covers & bumper stickers throw away items
I had the pleasure of owning a 67 2 door that was canary yellow with a black top. It was sold in Sullivan county Ny. It had a 289 with a fmx transmission that I had rebuilt in Monticello,Ny. I obtained it with 33,000 miles on it in 1994, drove it only in summertime. When sold it had 98,000 miles on it. That was my car.

Excellent restoration. Like the fuel injection upgrade to the 427 and the Tremec 6 speed manual replacing 3 on the tree. Because the owner said he was hoping for 18 mpg on the open road, would recommend rear end at 3.23 max and nothing above it. Putting in a 3.07 or even 2.93 rear gears will really help mpg numbers. (It will also raise top speed not that that is really important.)
Hi John, Happy to read "Excellent restoration." :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
I'm a Mopar guy but I absolutely love this car. Always been a big fan of 60's full size sleepers like this and the solid lifter 409, L78 396, and L72 427 powered Chevy Biscayne's and Bel Air's. Never cared much for bright paint colors, stripes, spoilers, consoles , bucket seats, and fancy wheels and trim. Most of that stuff just adds weight to the car and draws unwanted attention. The only options that matter to me are the ones that actually make the car faster. This is exactly my style of muscle car
Hi Jeremy, High praise for this car :-) Lou
Used to take a 70 charger R/T 440 Magnum, just eat them ol ford up.
That was beautiful Lou , just a fabulous Ford!
Hi Sam, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
thanks lou, what a lovely restoration. Looks very original even the six speed manual shifter.what a cool car.keep them coming lou.
Hi Jason Meehan, "lovely restoration. Looks very original even the six speed manual" Well said. I'm having fun so I'll do my best to keep them coming when I see one I like :-) Regarding "thanks lou", you're welcome, Lou
Mr Costabile, keep the good stuff rolling. Thank you for the good coverage of the old cars, and the no-BS approach. It's nice to sit after work and watch one or two of these and enjoy them without all of the joking and nonsense of "the other guys" Lots of tid bits of info thrown in too. Thanks !!! Keep up the good work
Hi Digital Sharecropper, Glad to read your comment you're enjoying the Channel :-) You're welcome, and I'll do my best to keep up the good work, Lou
Gorgeous Ford...the cream of the crop and thank you Lou. :-)
Hi Ed B., "Cream of the crop". High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Oh the memories Lou. What a beautiful Car and a lot of work Jeff did here. He must be gleaming with pride. I use to love the '65 model the best out of the '60's models and not so much the '66 model and again over time the '66 really grew on me and the '67 became my least fav. But how can you not like this one. AWESOME! THANK YOU LOU
Hi Gene978, Good times, good time :-) Thank you for sharing. You're welcome, Lou
Nice, simple car with one of the best engines made by Ford. The owner knows which mods to do to improve the mileage without hurting the power, nice sleeper!, Thanks Lou!
Hi Pablo Cespedes, Glad you like this one :-) Me too. Thank you for sharing a comment. You're welcome, Lou
that sound is such a beautiful sound of the engine i could listen too it all day
:-)
I've always been a Ford Galaxie fan and that one's got my attention! What an awesome car!
Hi Diecast Channel Miniaturas de Veículos, Happy to read you enjoy this "awesome car!" :-) Lou
@diecastchannelminiaturasde2357, it's a Custom 500, NOT a Galaxie.
Love this car, my first new car and I bought it myself, was a 1968 Ford Falcon with a 289 three speed and it was loaded with options, an AM radio and a heater. I traded it in on a new 71 Cyclone, one of my neighbors ended up with it in 1980. It was still in good shape, I was debating buying it back when some idiot rear ended him and totaled it out. This Custom is just way cool, and the sound of the engine is incredible.
Hi roy gunter, Glad you "love this car" :-) Lou
Both pretty and powerful from a bygone memorable era. Stopped me in my tracks.

Gorgeous Ford. Tremendous Workmanship !
Hi Rudy, High praise :-) Lou
OH EM GEEE that is a gorgeous 'ole muscle car! I've always been a fan of Galaxie & Fairlane 500s, but never knew there was a Custom 500" until now.
Sweet video Mr Lou!
Hi Joel Williams, A olde and a goodie :-) Glad you like this one. Me too, Lou
The Custom 500 was Ford’s version of the Chevy Biscayne
Their base car was the Custom, then the Custom 500. The Custom didn't have side trim.
Just furthers my belief Ford absolutely builds a better car then General Motors or Mopar they never built a 67 Chevrolet or a 67 Plymouth as cool as this old blue Ford
I OWNED THIS CAR!!! AND DROVE FROM DC TO FAIRBANKS ALASKA WITH IT!
IN 1980
Hi Daniel, Happy to read you had this car for awhile :-) Lou
Gotta love those old cars. So damn big the car has 3 different sound zones.

Awesome I found it. I have a 67 Custom as well
Hi Carl, Happy to read this car you have a cool car too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile While only a 289 auto I want mine to have the same stance as yours. I love the tire wheel combo and wish mine was a 3 on the tree but it is clean, rust free from the south and 68K original. Mine is Dark Moss green.
Great car, nice powerful sound! I like the teal.
Lots of good detail included. Thanks for another interesting story!
Hi WickedFireFly13, Glad you like the teal. I think the teal color adds a nice sporty touch. Thank you for sharing, Lou
427 with a 6 speed manual. Man the Schwartz is with this one alright....
Nice engine trans combo.
My dad bought a new fastback 67 back in the day. I always thought this one-year only body style was very futuristic (for Ford) and great competition for the contemporary GM products of the day.
I finally got to drive one and It drives much nicer than other fords of just 2 or 3 years earlier.
Hi ScottDLR, Thank you for sharing details on your Dad's and your drive and adding to the story, Lou
LOVE this car...
Hi Mike Hawk, High praise, nice! Hope you see many other cars on the Channel you'll enjoy too, Lou
Very nice build. Looks and sounds great! I didn't know about the Custom version of these cars before now. Thanks for the post on this fast ford.
Hi Gene Still, Glad you enjoy the build :-) Would you like to hear it run? Enjoy! Lou th-cam.com/video/_wR-WTO2lrU/w-d-xo.html
i love those bad v8 sounds !!! that 427 is pure muscle .
Hi Bluehopi Bridge, I agree, when the car is started, the sound makes you smile :-) Lou
I like the way this car looks! Sweet looking ride! Great channel Lou ! Keep up the good work!

Awesome Awesome car... wow... that would be my dream ride there.
Glad this one gets the Awesome x 2 Martin Screeton :-) Lou
GREAT CAR I USED HAVE A 68 GALAXIE FASTBACK WITH A 390 AND A T/P C6 RAN LIKE A TOP
Hi James, Happy to read you have a cool car too :-) Lou
Fantastic car and my favorite kind of muscle car; understated and clean with
Hi bigkahuna1950, Well said. Lou
Interesting colour. My neighbour had a new 65 Squire wagon and it would appear to be green with a touch of blue on a cloudy day but when the Sun was strong it looked blue with some green . The colour was Twilight Turquoise and it had the matching Turquoise interior.
That 67 looks like the factory Dark Moss green , but the sunlight on a angle shows that blue hue.
HI Gary Wood, Thank you for viewing and sharing details on the color and your neighbours wagon. Lou
this was one of the cheapest full sized fords in 67.Very rare to see one fixed up.Beautiful car

My first car was a red 67 LTD. Black cloth interior with chrome everywhere, guages, black vinyl top, inside back window impossible to clean cause of the fast back, 390 with 4 barrel and dual exhaust, Cragar rims.

My father always drove Ford Galaxie's during the 60's , he owned a 67 500 four door hard top automatic fully loaded in the color of burgundy probably a 390 four barrel, he would put one hundred thousand miles on them as a traveling sales rep and then trade them in .

Hello Lou/Jeff: What rear differential is in this magnificent piece? Ratio? Any suspension mods?
It's a stock 9-inch Ford housing with a new third member, posi, 31 spline axles. 4.10 gear.
Suspension is mostly stock but has upgraded rear control arms/panhard by PMT Fabrication, as well as upgraded front & rear sway bars/bushings.

@@loucostabile Hello Jeff/Hello Lou: Yes, thanks so much. It was a '67 Custom that was more loyal to me than all the women I have ever known COMBINED. It had a 240 "big block" six cylinder and a C4. Four doors, pale blue, drove it at least 110K miles (in Upstate New York and Michigan), got me thru my undergrad, and my Grad Degrees (latter at Cornell). ALWAYS STARTED. When all the rich kids' BMW's would not start in sub-zero weather, I was nice enough to give them a jump! 1967 full-size, one of the best all-around cars Ford ever made... I still dream about that my '67.
@@SchwartzPerformance Nice car and magnificent work! Are the front wheels Wheel Vintiques 15x8 with 245/60/15 tires? What backspacing? Do they rub?

I WANT THIS CAR ASAP
You'll have to give Jeff a call (his details are in the text of this video). Hope it works out for you, Lou
I've owned a lot of Mustangs ,and big Ford's ,Boss 302's ,a 1969 Mach 1 with a 390 ,and Four speed 88 GT5.0,,,98 GT 5.0 V8 , 2002 GT5.0,2006 GT 5.0,and a 2013 GT with a 5.0. I really miss that car ,because In my opinion, the 2013 ,and 2014 GT's were the most definitive mustangs of the past 60's style ,however I have never owned a 427 side oiler ,in any way shape or form .Wow what a powerful engine, anyway ,that's my story ,,Lou,,,,,Great show . Keep it rolling........
Okay but nothing to write home about… enjoy you trip.
Hi Jim, Clearly this one is not for you :-( Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
Custom500 was the trimmed out custom; some chrome trim added and the 500 badge. A step below the Galaxie500. But I liked the Custom500 actually more than the Galaxie just for the simpler look and if hopped up it was a cooler look than the fancier Galaxie500, Galaxie XL or the LTD. just my opinion. Cheers🍻
Hi Trip Reviews, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Cheers, Lou
That motor sound makes me moist
Nice :-)
Great idea going with fuel injection and the modern transmission. I hope you get better MPG than with carburetors. The 427 wasn't known for its fuel economy.
Hi murray1575, Happy to read you enjoy the details of this build :-) Lou
I WISHD ID HAD 2 CUSTOM FORDS
Two is better than one :-)
very cool car
Hi Martin Schaffmeir, Glad you like this one :-) Hope you see more cars on the Channel you'll think are very cool, Lou
We had a ‘67 Custom 500, but it did not look as unremarkable and bare bones as this one. It was sky blue and had nice hubcaps. And a nice round dome light instead of corner back seat lights. Ford’s would take on those rectangular dome lights from about 1969 to 1979 unless you paid for those fancy map lights you could turn on without the car running.
Hi Jon Stewart, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Lou
These are real cars not those computerized radio junk we're forced to have these days. For myself, I love these cars and they're much better rides than the new standard computer junk of today-they beat the hell out of you.
HI Craig Pennington, Glad you love this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Wow, so now what's it do in the quarter mile? This is a hot rod not a mellow cruiser lawn chair car
Hi Ken, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
@@loucostabile That means you're another "Lawn Chair guy at car shows that have 500hp that are too scared to run it at the drag strip lol. You guy's are funny with loads of money to waist, you can't unload gobs of hoursepower on the street or risk killing someone or yourself and/or get a reckless driving ticket and very big fine and maybe lose your license for six months. Like eating only one chip as us REAL hot rodders say to Lawn Chair car show guys that just talk 🦜 Oh my 66 Galaxie XL ran a best of 13.79 @ 98 mph with bad traction, I ran on test and tune once a year for fun. With slicks I'm sure I'd be deep in the 13s maybe high 12s. To some guy's today that may not seem real fast but I didn't build a race car I built a hot rod Galaxie, best of both worlds, you can't drive a race car
This is just my type of muscle car Lou. Just a total sleeper. Looks like a plain Jane straight 6 grandma car besides those tiny 427 fender badges. But once you open the hood it's anything but grandma's car. I wonder how many Ford Custom and Custom 500s escaped the factory with the dual quad R-Code 427. Can't be very many at all
Hi Jeremy Thompson, Simple and powerful :-) Lou
Absolutely Lou. Those Ford R-Code 427 cars were basically race cars with a license plate. This gentleman's 427 engine is much more refined with the fuel injection setup though. Love this car. This is one of my favorite cars I've seen on your channel so far. I'm a huge fan of sleeper cars just like this
