I was so upset the first time I saw this movie (yes, yes, I’ve seen it twice). Jade gave us Isoken, my favorite nollywood romcom of all time and my hopes were highhhh. I think if they’d focused on Shaffy and Wale Ojo’s love story, it could have saved the film? But it just felt rushed. Elo and Teniola’s characters nonsense plot was unnecessary. They are not friends please. Also RMD’s wide grin creeped me out in the first few scenes. When Waje started singing, I lost it. Like why? And how is everybody in this one church? I really did not like how Ebele Okaro’s character was written, every time I saw her I just 😣 and her husband? It felt disrespectful to old Nollywood to have them play those weak characters. The second time I watched this though was with family members who do not watch Nigerian movies at all (as a matter of principle 😭) and they liked it LOL! Like I gave this huge disclaimer before we started and they seemed to really enjoy themselves. It even got a few laughs especially from Eku Edewor’s character. I started to question my original judgement sha. Guess if you have really low expectations and like the comments you got said don’t take it too seriously, you might like it. Nollywood has not had a good romcom in yearsssss. And this one was not it.
