  • In this video I'll show you how to hike to the summit of Mt. Fuji in one day. You'll see the views from the mountain, the tail, all of the different summits on Mt. Fuji and the crater.
    Below is a link on how to get to the 5th station to do the hike.

    Brings back memories. We did this same trail in August last year. Doing it again next year! Just got to remember to bring more change for bathrooms!

    Wow thanks for the video. We will be visiting in July and this video helps! A quick question, where did you stay a night before? And what hotel?

      Glad it was helpful! I stayed at the Kawaguchiko Hotel, in the city of Kawaguchiko. You can take a taxi cab from there all the way up to the 5th station. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Thanks for the video, very helpful. Planning to do this later this week. A few questions:
    When did you do the hike? Looks pretty recent, what was temperature like on the mountain with it being so hot/humid everywhere else right now?
    What did your total time back down to the 5th station end up being?
    How did you travel to/from Fuji?
    Thanks!!

      I did the hike August 5th on a Monday. if was hot and humid but there was a nice cool breeze that would blow in and keep it a little cooler the highter you go. Total hike time was 8 hours, it took me 5 hours to get up and 3 hours to come down. Here is a link on different ways you can get to the 5th station, I took a tazi cab because I wanted an early start. www.japan-guide.com/e/e6922.html#:~:text=Another%20option%20is%20to%20take,fee%20for%20the%20toll%20road).

      @@NeverLostRoamer just wanted to come back and say thanks again for your video. We did the hike last week, up and down in a day 🎉
      Just for anyone else watching this video to prep like I did… we did the 6:45 bus from Shinjuku, got there about 9:15 to start the hike. We were ~6 hours to the top and 3 down, for a total of just over 9 hours. We barely made the last 6:40 bus coming off the mountain to Kawaguchiko, then took different trains to get back to Tokyo around 10.
      We had great weather, low crowds and no personal altitude issues. We hike regularly, but nothing crazy. The trail was definitely hard, especially the way down, but it was an amazing experience, great views, and awesome challenge to have completed.
      Thanks again for the video to help plan ahead 👍🏻

    Great video! I'll be in Japan in July. Do you think it's a good time to do the hike?

    • @NeverLostRoamer
      @NeverLostRoamer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      July is an excellent time to do the hike. I did my hike in August, As always with hikes try to start as early as you can So you are not rushing if you plan on doing it in 1 day. Thank you for watching and commenting

    Im going to japan in July with a friend. We have planned to go up and down in a single day. I personally dont hike much and definitely not mountains. Do you think it is possible to reach top the top and go down. And do you think it is a smart idea?

    • @NeverLostRoamer
      @NeverLostRoamer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mount Fuji is an altitude hike since you do not have much mountain experience hiking I do not recommend it, with altitude hikes you don't want to play around with trying to hike to the top because altitude sickness is no joke it affects some people more seriously than others plus your friend may be mad at you if you have to quit during the hike and go back sick it might ruin his chance of making it to the top and affect your friendship. Thank you for watching and commenting have a great trip

    Would you recommend me to hike it? Im going solo to japan for vacation but I will only spend 4 nights in tokyo because im going to visit another city, do you spend a a whole day or more in the hike? Not sure if its worthy to my short stay? Did you hire a guide?

    • @NeverLostRoamer
      @NeverLostRoamer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I pretty much took a whole day to hike it when you consider I started at about 6am and finished about 2pm, I don't know your hiking level but I was going pretty hard at it with little breaks to make it to the top, then I took my time taking pictures seeing the top a lot more of the top than most people do. Most people do this hike in 2 days, they start later in the day and then sleep in one of the huts at the top so they can wake up before sunrise to see the sun come up. You don't need a guide to hike it because you can just follow the people going up so there is no way for you to get lost. In my first visit to Japan I didn't have enough time to hike it so in my second visit that's why I made a point to do it, so you might want to skip it for now if this is your first visit to Japan. I hope that answers your questions.

      @@NeverLostRoamer I'm going in October so it would be off season according to my search so I might need a guide, I have hiked mountains higher than this one like the Iztaccihuatl here in my country, thanks for your response! I will have to really think it through because I love hiking haha and I might not have another opportunity to visit Japan in my lifetime

      stay safe and good luck.
      mt fuji is my first and last mountain. i have a heart condition and my knees have a long term injury. its a bucket list item.
      but i did a bullet climb at night in july 2019. i didnt reach the peak because it was under maintenance (the path had a rock slide). so i turned back down the yoshida trail between 8th and 8.5th station. it was raining heavily the whole night so i had a touch of hypothermia (cant feel my face or toes)
      this year im going back (mid july).
      ascending gotemba trail, descending from 6th station to visit Hoiezan,
      going back up to 8th station, resting at the hut until after midnight,
      continuing up to the summit for sunrise and descending the Subashiri trail.
      the idea is subashiri top segment is shared with Yoshida, so doing this will allow me to do all 3 paths.
      normally, people would do Subashiri for the ascend and descend Gotemba
      but due to the restrictions implemented this year, i fear the subashiri route might be congested or cut off.
      Most popular to least popular trails yoshida > Fujinomiya/Subashiri > Gotemba.
      i am choosing to ascend just after Marine Day (holiday in japan)
      and i wanted to get 360 videos/photos of the ascent route for gotemba (google street view only has the descent route)

      The best thing I would recommend is to take a taxi if they don't have a bus going there, they always have taxis that can take you where you want to go
