The seats are cheap in Gikomba bcz they make with substandard sponge. Good quality sponge is expensive. Plus the mixing of sponge and synthetic fibre makes a couch feel comfortable and hence the escalation of price of a good quality couch.
if you make these seats on your own they don't go past 30k and am being generous here....but if u wont buy them from the shop u better go for the carpenters in gikosh like she said and pay the extra 40k for good measure totaling 70k but I've been making them on my own cutting all unnecessary stop blocks

(Let's not even talk about the people who are in workshops taking orders, but are brokers who have never made a piece of furniture in their life). Secondly, we gate-keep knowledge. Many don't like to share when they get good artisans. So business people who sell ready-made furniture which customers can inspect before buying, therefore skipping fundi shenanigans altogether, will always have people to sell to.
