  • In this series of films, we show some of the physical processes at work in the atmosphere using an infrared camera.
You don’t need an expensive infrared camera to do the demonstrations we have shown in this series of films. Cheap, handheld infrared thermometers can be used to show the same effects. We’ve got other ideas on how these thermometers can be used at www.metlink.org/wp-content/up...
The Royal Meteorological Society supports Weather and Climate education in the UK. You can find a whole range of ideas for weather and climate related experiments on its schools’ website at www.metlink.org/experiments
Imperial College London is a world-class university with a mission to benefit society through excellence in science, engineering, medicine and business. The College is one of the world’s leading institutions researching climate change and the environment.

    Questions to test understanding:
The darker an object, the more/ less light is has absorbed and the more/ less light it has reflected.
Name three things that can be seen from space which have a high albedo.
How does the melting of polar ice increase the warming seen in the Arctic and Antarctic?
You can find out more about feedback processes in the atmosphere at www.metlink.org/resource/ipcc... and blogs.egu.eu/divisions/cr/201...
