If I was including PAL games that definitely would have been on the list! This list only included North American games, thanks for checking out the video, PS, I love your content!!
Great video! Glad to see the Master System getting a lot of love still. When I grew up in the 80's and 90's most of my friends had 8bit Nes or 16bit consoles. I came from working class and we barely could go on vacations, so I didn't have a console until a day when the 3 year older mean kid on the block offered me to buy his old Master System (gen 1) console with two controllers and no games (except the built in ones) for what is now 10 dollars. As this System was already out of fashion in Sweden, 2nd hand stores were selling the games for around 5 dollars each with boxes and often with manuals. I proudly began collecting some 40 games the following years and I still have everyone of them. The first game that I bought was Ys the vanished omens. My favorites to this day would be Psycho Fox, Alien 3 (the graphics and feel of that one is incredible for being 8bit) and World Soccer (I played the penalty shootouts so much). I actually enjoyed Alex Kidd in high tech world as well, and of course Golden Axe and Kung Fu kid. Seeing this made me want to connect my console again.
Limiting yourself to just north American titles is a huge handicap for this system since a larger library exists in europe. When buying these games online it is no great leap to get imports. Potential for a second parter to this vid.
Master System is a very underrated system. I remember a friend of mine had it when it was new and I'd play it at his place all the time. Though I mostly remember playing a LOT of Double Dragon as that version was 2 player. Of these I only own Ghouls and Ghosts. I suck at that game because it's so hard but I have a soft spot for it and just love the overall aesthetics of it. You didn't see very many (if any at all) horror themed games in the 80s and that one was the best. I have the Master System version, the Genesis version, the Sega Saturn version (that's the one to get as it has the arcade version of it. No conversation.), the Atari ST version and the ZX Spectrum version of the game. The holy grail is the Turbo SuperGrafx version but I'm not holding my breath on that one. There are a few other versions for computers of the 80s but I got the ones I have, including the Master System one, years ago when they were under $10 and people were practically giving them away. I miss those days.
That’s awesome, I’m a huge horror fan so I can appreciate your soft spot for it haha! I didn’t play too much of ghouls and ghosts but I did play a TON of Super Ghouls N Ghosts on the SNES 🔥🔥
Really surprised that Sonic 1 is so expensive in the USA. In Europe it's one of the most common cartridges (game was a really big deal and a massive seller in Europe). Cart only is about five to seven quid in the UK. Master System is region free so surely someone in the US can import a complete game from Europe way cheaper? This game is not rare at all.
Better to buy the UK version of sonic as it's cheap as chips and while your at it, add in sonic 2 and sonic chaos - all great games for the master system and we'll worth importing. The Sega Master system was our 'NES' over here and both consoles were sold for many years as budget systems alongside their 16bit counterparts!
@@moonshinegaming Thank-you for the reply! In the UK during the 80's we gamed on the commodore 64 and Zx Spectrum computers and then along came sega with its master system which was very popular and a step up, when you look back at sales figures the Nes was not far behind in numbers but most of these sales are from when it was sold for less than half the price of the snes through the 90's - during the actual 8bit era the Nes was just too expensive and not well distributed. I've actually only just been discovering the Nes in the last 2 years having never ever played one and ive been gaming since the 80's! Just found your channel and just subscribed👍
@@moonshinegaming yes for example sonic or Spiderman are sold for 15 dollars more or less. Anyway it's interesting to see the price of American's copy, where the master system was sold in few units.
Yes , i am from Belgium and here are games like home alone , championship hockey and some more very rare and amazingly expensif. I got some ultra rares in my collection. One day i wil complete my collection sinds i need like 4 or so to complete the full set.
I was waiting for this one in the series. I genuinely loved my Master System. I was always ranting about the superior versions of Double Dragon and Rampage. It was fun to see some rarities I didn't even know about.
I believe there are two versions of Sonic the Hedgehog. The first more valuable version is simply just as it is in North America. Game, manual, case. The second version has a seperate UPC barcode sticker on TOP of the printed insert barcode. This was due to very low number of NTSC copies available since Sega was worried it wouldn't sell well because the Genesis version was already out. Instead of a second run. They took overstock EU copies and added the NTSC barcode overtop. Nice work by the way, just subbed. You look like a fellow I had a good chat with a few years back at an expo at the Toronto Convention Center.

I have been obsessed with finding ALF. Thanks to your video I am now .. feeling OK if I don't find it :) Had no idea about the lack of sound effects. I went to another video and watched a long play of it. It was just the midi music (or chip tunes). Very strange like somebody dropped the ball and they pushed the game out anyway. I guess the only reason you use a sausage for the weapon is they were gearing this for kids and not so much teens or older? I dunno . . it says a lot that no other game manufacturer put the game on their console I guess :) Though, I do love ALF! :) You can watch the Saturday morning series on Amazon Prime now, there were 2 of them.
First I would never pay those prices not worth it. Second I was able to play Phantasy Star and Miracle Warriors on my Sega Genesis using the Base converter. The games were rented never finished any but I had a lot of fun!
why is Sonic so expensive?
