@@yaimavol The electoral count law of 1887 that was cited numerous times in the hearings. They ALL knew it was illegal. Even Eastman admitted it would lose even at the current right-wing Supreme Court, by 9 to 0. The fact that their plan failed does not exonerate them. If you try to rob a bank and fail, you're still arrested, tried and convicted. This is a case of attempted sedition. As a judge made clear, "it was a coup in search of a legal basis." There are many other charges with lots of supporting evidence: inciting a riot, reckless endangerment, stopping or attempting to stop a governmental procedure, inciting an attack on the Vice-President, conspiring to commit fraud on the American people with The Big Lie, conspiring to commit financial fraud on the American people by fundraising for a legal defense fund that didn't exist and the money was directed to places other than what was described, etc., etc. Those are just off the top of my mind. I'm sure a lawyer could provide a much more extensive list.

My favorite part of the hearing was Jacobs saying he explained why this was illegal to Eastman and Eastman basically saying that it didn't matter because he figured the court wouldn't get involved so they'd get away with it.
It feels a bit like even though Eastman was extremely wrong, he was right about one thing: so far they've gotten away with sedition.

I’ll admit that I only started watching Seth Meyers during the pandemic and it’s so well written, plus his delivery is so on point. Well done to all involved. Had a hard work week so far and Seth always makes things better. As a true jackal, I am looking forward to corrections tomorrow.
i feel like among the late night hosts that talk news and politics, seth is the only one who leans on it being informational over it being spun into a bit or punchline. however the fact he takes chances on silly reference jokes and callbacks that are inside jokes too repeat viewers pays off for a overall better talk show in my opinion. for instance,in his attic isolation era, i noticed the thorn birds novel one day...hmm.. ok...next time:"wait....where have i heard the thorn birds before....shrug....then later i notice several copies hidden and mingled in the background shot etc. suddenly i realized the show was intended to screw with me, and i appreciate it. well done seth, your show is the best amongst the competitors. keep it up

Lately I just feel lighter after I watched a CL segment and laughed a few times. Oh the Bees segment is simply phenomenal. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do.

I want more information on Clarence Thomas's involvement in this. I find it very difficult to believe his wife is working to overthrow democracy and he knows nothing about it. He at minimum had a duty to warn the public about the craziness of this scheme.

Perhaps government has always had a theatrically crafted aspect... but it hasn't always been evident to me. These hearings are so 'produced' - it's like listening to a true crime podcast. That's not a criticism - the hearings being able to hold the attention of the most people possible is to everyone's benefit.
