Truth be told, HD Radio is not really dead. They are just on a plateau right now.
In fact, it is being built into the newest cars out there right now and other than that it is more about messaging and inspiring a transition period.
If and when people learn and get that AM and FM Radio is never going away that they are just going digital HD Radio will get back on a real rise again.
But for now it's sort of still on a plateau.
it is decently frustrating. only a few radios. and I tried to get it with my sdr but that is rocket surgery.

I can hear a big improvement in the quality of the high audio frequency when the radio station kicks into HD. I like the hybrid because I don't loose the stations like HDTV.
I think it would be better if I had a pocket HD radio, which I have not seen. Also, it would be better if I got HD AM radio stations.
FM and AM radio has been killed by the poor regulations, which has allowed big corporations to buy up all the US stations. This drove up the price to hundreds of millions per station, at one point. If you spend that much per station, you become bound to constantly running commercials and not playing any risky songs or stray away from popular talking points into real talk radio. As a result, broadcast radio is a wasteland and not a viable, free alternative to internet streams, music services, and podcasts.
It would be nice to just take to work some 2" *2" mp3, HD radio which would not be reliant on the internet, just a good battery, and enjoy good audio. This device should have awesome battery, compared to smart phone which runs a screen, 10 antennas, 87 background apps, etc. The problem is that the business calculus requires radio stations to constantly run ads and deprive listeners of real content which is not the lowest common denominator - - in other words a wasteland and not worth the effort of shopping for a good radio and antenna.

There are people who think that AM and FM Radio is going away over transitioning from analog to a digital format HD Radio when that is really clickbait talk and all that I wish is for people to give it a chance the same way that we did or had to with analog tv switching over to digital tv and ultimately getting ourselves more tv programming for free over the air because that is basically what is happening to AM and FM Radio.
And just like with digital television you still get those ads during the shows but you still get your shows for free over the air you are going to get those ads on HD Radio just like with analog AM and FM Radio but you also still get your music over the air for free with HD Radio just like with analog AM and FM only more of it because of those sub channels just like we get with digital television for free over the air.
I just wish that people would quit rushing to judgment and making clickbait statements and realize that there is also a growing new way to do old things but until people start to see and embrace that new way of doing old things or as long as there continues to be no mandate the plateau in the progress of HD Radio is unfortunately going to continue.
0:29 - 1:51 and 9:01 - 9:48 have a high-pitched buzz that you might not be aware of. If you record in that space in the future please be aware that it's happening.

Hdth has a 3.0 next gen tv recever for 89$ after the update it works good if you have a video capture card you can record incripted channels.
Like to see a video on next gen tv tuner from ADTH it only cost 89$.
ATSC & NTSC in Linux is a massive PItA. The 50hz rest of the world standard is where most Linux TV programs are targeted. We in NA are left in the dirt in Linux. I'm in America and am a Slackware & Ubuntu user and I experienced the same.
Mine works great you can use it when power goes out.
Works okay for an Android phone at best. CPU speed may be an issue for a television.
BTW, using Samsung tablet T290 model and using that device on this video, UHF CHANNEL 16 of ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. WIVB and WUTV are all black screen after scan any ATSC 3.0 channels, but ATSC 1.0 are all fine.

You can go to any RF channel, BUT you did not show that you could ADD that channel to your list.
If you can't, it is WORTHLESS if you have a rotor, correct?

I have contacted Kyle who develops the app. hopefully they will fix the screen tear problem. But not recommending it until that is fixed!
How come Wsyt Fox 68. I live here in Syracuse. Which is where the station is located And I can't get it on my antenna
I was able to pick it up in the summer. But not recently :( that channel will come in on a clear day in the spring but never consistently.

12 Reasons why OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail. Just say NO to (DRM). Tell your USA Government about the Hostile Takeover of (OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV) issues listed below.
DRM (Digital Rights Management) Encrypted TV Station's signals. Why?
Some 3.0 tuners at this time require you stay on the internet to decode DRM 3.0 TV Stations. Why?
3.0 Currently no 4K and you only get the Simulcasted main channel and no sub channels.
Channel Crawling = super slow channel changing (DRM 5 + seconds slow).
No sound because of Dolby AC4 audio codec does not have a legal open source license to decode legally on many devices.
Some 3.0 tuners have Out of sync audio to video problems.
Private Home Networked OTA antenna tuner boxes like (Tablo TV box) can not get official certified approval for DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV. Why?
You may need non OTA home pay internet for updates and to unlock DRM encrypted ATSC 3.0 tv channels.
Possible DRM restrictions on DRM ATSC 3.0 recordings and no viewing anywhere on any device with no sound.
Emergency alert messages can not be received if DRM is blocking them.
OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail because the FCC is not going to turn off ATSC 1.0 TV stations for many years if not enough people buy 3.0 TVs and 3.0 boxes.
No one has solve the problem of no government money for free DRM 3.0 TV tuner boxes because 1.0 TV turners and recorders will not work after that TV Station switches to 3.0 TV broadcasts.
(Range and signal error correction) OR (more sub channels and near 4k picture) trade off problem.
FCC is not forcing any 1.0 TV Stations to move over to 3.0 TV. So some TV stations will be on 1.0 and others will be on DRM 3.0.
The FCC is only allowing OTA Simulcasts of the ATSC 1.0 main channel at this time on DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV.
DRM ATSC 3.0 is a not finished product and is a work in progress mix of unproven ideas that has never gotten full FCC approval at this time.
Software updates for 3.0 tuner boxes may be needed for changes made to the unfinished and future added new official ATSC 3.0 standards modules.
Patent License problems. LG no longer sells TVs with ATSC 3.0 tuners.
Some 3.0 TV tuners companies may go out of business or stop updates leaving you with no DRM or software updates.
OTA ATSC 3.0 is better but is not perfect and still can be affected by weak tv signals: (distance, weather, planes, trees, buildings, trucks, poor antenna, etc).
FCC rules that 5 percent of old ATSC 1.0 coverage area does not need to be covered anymore = (SHORTER RANGE).
Viewing zone outside of your 15 minute city or town could be blocked.
Your TV viewing habits could be tracked by your serial number or IP address.
ATSC 3.0 is updatable until it is not updatable without new hardware tuners (ATSC 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0......).
Some of these 3.0 TV issues may be fixed over time.
This is only some of the mess with DRM ATSC 3.0 TV.
This is my opinion why DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail.
IMO. Stay on OTA 1.0 TV until DRM is removed from OTA ATSC 3.0 by law.
It is the people versus the hostile takeover by private DRM 3.0 TV stations for control over the USA public airwaves.

I got one of these and it's even worse that I thought it would be! It's mostly useless and can't play any Next Gen channels at all. When I tried using it on a Lenovo tablet the app wouldn't run or connect to the device and just said Connection Error. Couldn't even install the app on a Chromebook or my TV. On a PC running it in LDPlayer the app crashes right away and wouldn't even start! Finally got it to kind of work on a new Moto G 5G phone but it won't play any of the Next Gen channels, not even the unencrypted ones! While it does play normal channels OK I don't know how a company can sell such rubbish but the app seems to be half baked and most of the problem. I couldn't get the signal meter feature on the phone either. Also what is the Broadcast App supposed to do?
How to listen to radio on this.
I was not able to find software for that on a PC. It is possible but so fare there is no driver for windows or Linux. were you wondering about how to use this as a SDR?
Why does your title say "don't buy" when your video didn't show a television application? The mobile phone illustration isn't applicable for most users and would not indicate the best usage of the device. Maybe I'm missing something, respectfully.
