Harald thanks for the tour of Seoul. While serving in the U.S. Army I was stationed in Korea in 1970 and 1978. Seoul was such an interesting place then. It looks fabulous now. I found the Korean people to be super friendly and they will share with you food and drinks etc. even if they are dirt poor. Both tours I was in the countryside and it was very beautiful and calming. I still eat kimchi today and have a favorite Korean restaurant in Daleville, Alabama USA. Very authentic. More videos pleeeeaase!!!
Thank you for your service. Without heroes like you Korea would not have been where we are today. We never have and never will forget the hands that picked us up.

Kinda very traditional thing in KR. 30:10 kinda Expensive as it is on the street, but if it’s real fur it would be right price. 33:20 Chestnuts. famous ‘good old times’ snack of wintertime. 34:40 called ‘Han-gwa’ snack made up of rice and rice syrup, Has hundreds years of tradition. 37:15 you could use ‘An-nyeong’ either you say hello or good bye. Koreans often use ‘An-nyeong Haseyo’, honorific form towards elders.
This is why I love solo travel. Don't get me wrong companions are always fun to have, but the sheer exploration possibilities going solo and spending what you want is always fun. Great video Baldr, look forward to the rest of the trip
i recently solo traveled to Japan after some people last minute saying they weren't able to go and honestly i'm glad they didn't lol going around solo and making mistakes and having to figure things out by myself was such a unique experience and i plan on doing it again
This is one of my favorites from you harald, I was laughing throughout the whole video. I’m very impressed with Korea so far! Such a stunning hotel and room.
Harald, loved watching you explore the unknown in Seoul, what a beautiful hotel you stayed at. All the people seemed so happy and friendly to you. That leopard hat is fantastic looking, but the first 'fashion one' looked even better on you, especially with that very stylish outfit you were wearing, too, amazing look for you! Have really enjoyed your videos for quite a long time and this one stands out above many others, truly fun to watch you experience a new place with your innocent take on so many new things, just awesome, my friend! Enjoy the rest of your visit and market hunts in Korea. Stay Healthy, Happy and Safe! Thank You for sharing your adventure with us. Fantastic and fun to watch!!!
Harald, I can recommend going for a hike on one of the mountains surrounding Seoul. It's an amazing combination to be in a huge metropolis, but also being so close to nature. Truly stunning views. Try Achasan (아차산) or Gwanaksan (관악산).
I also recommend Jangsan (장산) in Busan, my favorite city in the world. Ideally you’d want to visit in a warmer season, and the same applies to Jeju. If you’re a fan of history, you should go to Jeonju, regardless of the season. Another historic city is Gyeongju, which is also cool, but if I had to pick just one historical city, I’d choose Jeonju.
What a wonderful Christmas present!!! Harold’s here to show us Korea!!! You look so nice in your turtleneck and coat!! What a beautiful Hotel! I love the lighting in the evening. Great to see you visiting Seoul. I've been there plenty of times and also used to live there. It is a great place, hope you will enjoy your stay Harald! :)
I was very surprised when I visited there as to how modern and high tech. I loved the street shopping and eating. Korea is an exceptional place to visit.
Another awesome video, thank you for taking us on your wonderful journey & showing us the lives of outside our world. Btw, Martinelli’s is an American sparkling apple cider.
Seoul is probably my favorite city I've ever travelled to. Enjoy! Go to Itaewon or Hongdae for younger, bars, food, nightlife activities. There are back allyways with hidden bars and food everywhere!
Great to see you in a new country. I was lucky enough to have a business trip to Samsung's huge complex there some years ago, such an impressive place, the most polite people I've ever met. Looking forward to the next video!
The adopted woman tracing back her roots. Love to see it. A lot of adoptees try to look past their past but it takes some brave souls to go back trying to find their identity.
Great to see you again Harald, I was hoping to see some videos from you before Christmas. My wife and I thank you very much for all the hard work you do helping kids and adults. We wish you the best in your travels, hope you have a great Christmas and a happy new year. My 68 year old wife said you look very nice wearing the Leopard hat. Take care Northman.
I’ve been to Korea before and loved it. I remember how freezing cold it was at this time of year. This series really brought about strong feelings of nostalgia from that time. 😊 I remember I got questioned a few times for snapping photos as I walked through the markets. By the way that fur hat made you look like Rod Stuart in the early 80’s🎉
So pleased to have come across your channel in the recommendations via TH-cam. Have a splendid travel in Korea and a wonderful Christmas. Looking forward to updates and if you happen to visit Daejeon, let me know.
Just a stellar guy all around. The world is better for you in it Haraldo of the desert, the lifeline of our enjoyment, the bringer of gifts, the drinker of Gongo, the failed hat wearer still treks on. The best uploads on youtube sirs. Cheers.
Best TH-camr hands down. He travels everywhere. A lot of other TH-camrs travel to the same places. This guy always does everything differently. My daughter wants to go to NK one day, we're in the U.S.
Glad your back Harold- we got a townhouse after a year half hour from Canberra finally got a home with so two cats settled really happy again unusual there must be hard to communicate understand but you mastered it great video long term subscriber Australia ❤
Really I really enjoyed this beautiful vidio again. Heard a lot about South Korea but never got to experience it the way you showed it. Greetings and Merry Christmas.
Harald, there's a traditional Korean restaurant that also provides a show in a small intimate setting. It's called "Sanchon", located at 14, Gwanhun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul South Korea. It's a really cool experience and something that would be good to show your viewers the Korean culture and traditions.
I've stayed in Seoul last year and I love the area around the Namdeamun Market! Very old school vibe compared to many other disticts in Seoul. The older Koreans are sometimes a little bit rough, but also funny and lovely- and they make the best stews!
Wow you look amazing!!! Enjoy your stay and enjoy every second of it, it's a beautiful country with amazing people and food culture! Hope u stop by Japan after your SK series! So glad to see u back!
Harald Happy New Year mate...hope you have a Healthy & Prosperous 2024...!! I get withdrawal's when you don't post new content for a while as I'm addicted to watching your Vlogs mate..!!😉....
I’m so happy to watch your videos! I first started watching your old videos recently and now im getting to watch your adventures in real time! I hope you have safe travels in SK :)
Harald!! If you'd like to visit trendy, youthful, and exciting areas in Korea, may I suggest: 1. Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam 2. Garosu-gil, Gangnam or 3. Hongdae, Seoul! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to your future vlogs, we missed you Haraldo😊😊
HONGDAE is a place where young generaton gathers there are many clubs and buskings. In the past i went club one time, the hongdae club was sausage party😂😂
All those three places you mentioned are for young people. I think Harold chose the Namdaemun area because it's not a trendy place, so, it's more fun to watch him interacting with old people. And the area around Seoul station is like a mecca for Korean homeless people. I hope he interviews some homeless people. There are some English speaking homeless people.
It was very sweet to see the dog outfit vendor appreciating you for buying something from her. I could tell she was struggling to sell her products. Good job harald!
Unexpected but exciting to see you in my country of residence! The filling of the first food you had (bungeobbang/붕어빵) you had was red bean paste. It's quite a popular flavour in Korea, there are a variety of pastries and even ice cream. I personally prefer custard filling bungeobbang. Also as you might have seen, Korean people don't like to haggle much. You can generally get the best prices at metro malls in my experience. Further, a few suggestions from someone who has lived in Korea for 4 years and travelled every province: - Majang Meat Market, Seoul: since you seem to not be a connoisseur of seafood, you should try Korea's biggest meat market mainly known for hanu beef (basically Korean wagyu), it also has a 80s/90s flair - Seodaemun Prison, Seoul: prison built under Japanese colonial regime to detain independence activist, later used to detain democracy fighters by Korean dictatorship, now it's a memorial hall/museum where you can learn about the more sinister side of 20st century Korean history - Andong City: small city in the mountains, you can learn how to distill soju there, also famous for jjimdak (braised chicken), they have a folk village too but I haven't visited so idk if it is overly touristic or authentic, they have a smaller old village too that was relocated due to a dam being built but nobody lives there as far as I know - Gyejoksan, Daejeon: literally barefoot mountain, red clay hiking trail that you are supposed to climb barefoot, appearantly good for health but might be too cold now; in Daejeon there is also a public hot spring in the middle of the city (Yusong Hot Springs Public Foot Bath) which would be great spot to relax and try chatting up the elderly. generally Daejeon is underrated in my opinion, but has a reputation as 'no fun city' among Koreans - depending on how long you stay you could also try going to some winter festival in some mountain town, I'd recommend Hwacheon. mainly people go for ice fishing, you can try barehands fishing there too or just ride a sleigh or something, if you go on the right day you can also see a lot of soldiers, since it is close to the DMZ and they get to do stuff for free so a lot come on their off day, plus you can find some Korean Army store there Anyways looking forward to more videos from Korea
As a normal resident of Seoul who's been asking him to check out the best city in the world, so glad to see this video. I hope he enjoys Korea. Korea is a bit plain and boring these days compared to a bit back, but it's such a great place to experience. Clean, fast, delicious. Enjoy it. Bit sterile that's all.
One of the first times I've watched Harald it really feels like "stranger in a strange land" vibes. I think the hotel is in an unfortunate part of town, but there's plenty more to Seoul and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series
Harald ,you are in an ideal christmas paradise ,there is no such a place in Europe. Enjoy your stay in Seoul and if you find right korean girl ,each year you can have merry Christmas and happy new year too.
Good to see our Hero take in some of the finer things the world has on offer. Well deserved! And Happy Festivus for the Rest of Us! The reindeer costume would be too big for my dog, Loonie. But she'd curl up and sleep in that hat. LOL! (I may be mistaken, but I think the gentleman said it was Mink. Definitely not Leopard. No worries there my friend. )
My Sister is in Seoul now, she teaches English. This is the closest I'm going to get to seeing first hand where she lives 😊. My Mum is visiting in February, so I might show her this video. Stay safe Haraldo. All the best for Christmas 🎄 to you and yours
Life got busy for me & Harold’s channel kinda if slipped away for awhile. I forgot how much I enjoyed your commentary and creative subtitles 😂. Your content always entertains and fascinates me. Lastly: the black hat/cap you purchased first looked fantastic. I’m a woman, & although I couldn’t tell how warm it was for you, it thought it was lovely. It looked like it suited the weather while also being fashionable. Very Handsome. 🙏🏻💕
Hongdae: This energetic district near Hongik University is a hub for art, music, and nightlife. Live music spills from cafes and clubs, street performers entertain crowds, and trendy shops line the narrow streets. It's a dynamic atmosphere that buzzes with youthful energy. Gangnam: Known for its upscale boutiques and flashy nightlife, Gangnam also has pockets of cool cafes and restaurants popular with young adults. Apgujeong-dong, with its trendy Garosu-gil street, is a popular hangout for trendsetters. Itaewon: This international district is known for its diverse restaurants and bars, attracting both locals and expats. Itaewon's multicultural atmosphere and late-night energy make it a favorite for those seeking a lively scene. Hapjeong: This up-and-coming district boasts a mix of independent shops, cafes, and art galleries, attracting a creative crowd. Its laid-back vibes and unique offerings make it a popular spot for young people looking for something different. Sinchon: Home to Yonsei University, Sinchon has a youthful vibe with plenty of affordable eats and student-friendly cafes. It's a great place to experience the energy of university life and grab a quick bite. regards, baldrio the great.
I really liked this video Harald! You show how warm Koreans are :) If you wanted to show every aspect of Korea u must need several episodes. And yes the hat is probably real. in Korea we don't have many fake product like Thailand etc.
whooo thank you mr harald foe a new video.and please dont keep us waiting this long for new videos from the greathest vloger ever.and thank you fore taking us to korea
Harald if you want to do a street food episode you could go to Gwangjang Market and if you want to see the younger generation of Korea you have to go to Hongdae. If you want to do some trekking you should go to Bukhansan.
I love how he get the same excitement (at least on camera) while entering fancy hotel room in Korea and Maasai boma shared with baby goats. This is how life should be!
What you should do mate is find a little bar/shop with a load of old people drinking homemade makgeolli (korean rice wine) out of bowls. Would be some top quality content from the gongo lord. My last video we found one in a local market and was a right old school dive.

Wow what a clean country, no litter graffiti , no crackheads. 😊
I lived in Korea for a year and it was very organized and always felt safe.
Korea has a lot of litter but it gets picked up pretty quickly
Some teenagers spray painted the palace walls last weekend... It is rare to see in Korea though
Looks boring as well
That's because, unlike the west, South-Korea is an ethnostate, which results in a safer, cleaner and better organised society.

- depending on how long you stay you could also try going to some winter festival in some mountain town, I'd recommend Hwacheon. mainly people go for ice fishing, you can try barehands fishing there too or just ride a sleigh or something, if you go on the right day you can also see a lot of soldiers, since it is close to the DMZ and they get to do stuff for free so a lot come on their off day, plus you can find some Korean Army store there
Anyways looking forward to more videos from Korea
Thank you for the translation and insights!!!! I was so curious at many of the interactions and foods!
Thanks. Great info 🙏
So was the hat actually fur?
@@hello40169 yes
One of the first times I've watched Harald it really feels like "stranger in a strange land" vibes. I think the hotel is in an unfortunate part of town, but there's plenty more to Seoul and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series
Hotel is beautiful! People seem to be really nice 😊 Love the dog suit ❤ Birthday is just around the corner 🎉
So excited for new videos of your adventures in Korea!
Harald ,you are in an ideal christmas paradise ,there is no such a place in Europe. Enjoy your stay in Seoul and if you find right korean girl ,each year you can have merry Christmas and happy new year too.
Seoul is an amazing city full of good people. You just need to get away from the neighborhood you are staying and get over to more lively areas.
i really like your video man. its amazing how you help local street businesses.
Merry Christmas Harald, wishing you a great 2024 🎉🍻
Loved this video, hope we get a little history lesson if your are in Korea for a while
Hongdae: This energetic district near Hongik University is a hub for art, music, and nightlife.
Would love to visit South Korea! The ppl seem very friendly and welcoming!!
Missed these vlogs Harald, ps my doggy would love that santa outfit 😂🤣
As a Korean living overseas, this video made me miss home so much. Thank you for visiting Korea! Hope you had a great time.
I would kill to go on a holiday with you :) You're the most chillest and not-cringy Norwegian out here!
I really liked this video Harald! You show how warm Koreans are :) If you wanted to show every aspect of Korea u must need several episodes. And yes the hat is probably real. in Korea we don't have many fake product like Thailand etc.
That leopard skin hat was definitely from china 😂
Wow 🤩 very interesting… I have never been to Korea. 🇰🇷 Looking forward to the next episode. 😍👌
I'm new to your channel, and the "hold on is this filming" gets me every video 😂😂😂. Enjoy watching you, especially the Nepal series
Splendid Harald !! Just the kind of content needed for the season.
OG fan from Scranton, USA.
Hi brother you made a nice vlog I’m your regular viewer I’m from NEPAL🇳🇵 but I’m living now South Korea 🇰🇷 good luck 👍
Looks like a nice cold fun experience. Thanks for dragging us along with you!
but looks really difficult to survive just knowing English. Literally no one understands or speaks English from this video i reckon.
Of all the foreigners who have traveled to Korea so far, you are the funniest and coolest. Have a great trip.
incredible video, really make me feel like im there. absolutely love these styles of videos

A new adventure begins! Nice to see you back traveling. 좋은 여행 🙂
34:46 hahahaha, her reaction when you tried to dip that rice cake 😂😂😂
Harald if you want to do a street food episode you could go to Gwangjang Market and if you want to see the younger generation of Korea you have to go to Hongdae. If you want to do some trekking you should go to Bukhansan.
I love how he get the same excitement (at least on camera) while entering fancy hotel room in Korea and Maasai boma shared with baby goats. This is how life should be!
Christmas ✝️✨🙏🏻🎁 in South Korea what else do you need more🎉 Happy Christmas in Advance Herald ❤️✨
What you should do mate is find a little bar/shop with a load of old people drinking homemade makgeolli (korean rice wine) out of bowls. Would be some top quality content from the gongo lord.
My last video we found one in a local market and was a right old school dive.
The leopard print hat is epic!
It's a treat to watch you and the adventure 😊
