what distance do you use for the ground piles in a straight line and working up to raised on one side for a 15hh horse? do you change the distance as you raise them? Thanks

Hi Rachel, Thankyou for your question.
Keep the poles the same for both the ground & raised!
Start by troting through on the ground, when horse is confident and can coordinate through those, then raise. The distance I walked them out at In the video should work for your horse. But do play if needed as you ideally want your horse to push equally behind.
Our horses range from 13hh to 16+ & we just tweak slightly as needed.
Let us know if you need anymore information.

Great explanation. One th8ng I am not too keen about is how tight you hold the rope short and not giving him a chance to actually lower and stretch his neck.
Forcing him to go straight is counter productive?

Thank you for your comment you are absolutely correct in what you are saying.
Posture is the most important aspect, or the exercise has no benefit. The problem was it was his 1st time, and I was trying to show you what can happen, whilst explaining why he was finding it difficult, whilst also trying not fall over the poles myself. 😆
      Thank you for watching

How far apart are the poles to start!

@@SusanLoring-k9k The distance will vary between horses.
The Rule is to encourage symmetry behind
So only 1 hind leg pushes between poles if horse can take extra half step then the poles too far apart
      Hope this helps
