I am interested in getting a CMA. I do have question on the work experience requirement. I have been a staff accountant for almost two years. I saw the handbook for job description that meets requirement but felt like It was kind of broad. Do I need to meet all the job description requirements or just some?

Hi Liam. It depends on your goals and the field you want to work in. The combination of CMA and EA is a good choice if you are working as a Tax Analyst. The CMA will provide you with knowledge in financial management and accounting, while the EA will give you expertise in tax matters. This combination will allow you to have a strong profile in both fields and expand your professional opportunities.

One of the requirements is to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. If you’re not sure about yours, contact the IMA directly and ask them to review your case. They have the ultimate say on this. Best of luck.
