Another thing is, for the modular castle, you can buy it set by set, buying one every month, and so it's not as big a hit on your wallet. But for the big castle set, you have to fork over the entire price in one purchase, and that might make you think.
There is no denying that the 2018 micro-scale is more accurate to the films than the 7 sets on the instruction combined. However, it is still impressive how combining 7 play-scaled Hogwarts sets would eventually make a Hogwarts layout that looks closer to Hogwarts in the films. As someone who isn’t the biggest fan of micro-scaled stuff, I rather stick to the play-scale sets. Not to mention that you get a bunch of minifigures to put around the areas of the castle. The D2C set does come with a bunch of micro-figures, but there isn’t as much interactivity as in the play-scaled sets combined. I understand that one set is more for display while the other set is more for play, but even those 7 play-scaled Hogwarts sets combined create a great display piece if you have the space to combine them as they look like in the instructions. It’s up to people whether they prefer one version or the other, but as someone who loves minifigures, I go for the play-scale combination of Hogwarts sets.
Play-scale all the way. I love the details which get lost in the micro scale set. Still waiting for my Battle of Hogwarts to arrive so I can combine. They ran out of stock here in Australia 🇦🇺. Loving the new colours for your logo too.
The 2 GWP sets shouldn’t be included in the modular set as they are too hard to come by for a normal price. They can be parted out from bricklink, but still. My vote goes for the modular as wel as that’s the one I own and love to bits lol!
BOTH! but if chosing I'd do the Playscale models. The figures give more options for poseability. You can add Hogsmeade and the Hogsmeade station along with Hagrid's hut & Shreiking Shack to expand it further than the Displayscale.
I prefer to display the modular room sets from the back as there’s so much more detail to see. I have them in a 4” deep glass wall cabinet and look great together as they fill the frame perfectly. The UCS style castle is still sealed in the box atm and will display it like yours in an acrylic case.
I do have both and if i had to choose I'd pick the playscale version. Yes it is a bit more expensive but if you are already going to drop that amount of money its not much different really. Also you can get most pf these sets on a good sale or in the aftermarket for a large discount so really they are the same price. The minifigures are well worth it.
Aesthetically there is no comparison. The play set is a mess whilst the micro scale is a thing of beauty. I think you need to take that into account in any comparison
Which LEGO Hogwarts Castle do you guys prefer?! Let me know!
i would personally spend $570 on the minifig scale version, and most of those duplicate minifigures can be made into custom characters.

Hey topic, you should switch the door and the clock from the battle and connect the viaduct to the hole on the bottom
I do gotta admit though, the way you set it up looks amazing. I followed every detail in the image like switching the side of some of the turrets

You used 10 sets and I know the example they give to build it has 7. What weee the additional sets?
I added rooms by buying multiple polypotion sets for cheap and converting into regular rooms integrating my own scenes into the display.
Can you do a video on how you put your playscale together? I love the way yoi did it 😀

The playset is my choice and lots of minifigures but no Hagrid, no McGonogal (?), no Umbrage (?), no Doby.
I’ve got both 😊
Same and 2018-2020 setup
im almost finished with the module series and just buy the 71043 version today. i had a hard time to choose :') so i gues i just get them both
I only combined 7 sets not 10 sets
It kinda looks better like that anyway
Compare to HP 2018 and HP 2001 aswell!
And the 2023 one!
IS THE CASTLE GONNA RETIRE!?
Plz give me back my 5 minutes
