    I’m national guard, and I bought the Mystery Ranch Griz pack for my civilian job, but also to use it to hunt and for the military. The price range was around 600 and man it’s a dream. Y’all missed one thing, the one detail about the top flaps that come standard on all of them is you can take it off and that can turn into a mini backpack. So let’s say you ground your ruck in a PB or something. You can take it off and have mission essentials in there and take it with you to do what you’re going to do.

    I didn’t mind the Molle II until I saw a Marine buddy’s issue ILBE Arcteryx ruck. After trying it on and rucking in it, I hated that we were issued the Molle II. I ended up buying my own Marine ILBE ruck off eBay to use outside the Army. Way more comfortable and centers the load better than the Molle II. I think the ILBE even carry’s a bit more than the Molle II. Not to sound jealous or anything.

    do a "Spec ops test cheap vs expensive uniforms". Maybe rothco, vs crye, vs patagucci, vs arcteryx leaf. Run around and roll around in them
    Then do a spec ops test old vs new camos, maybe m81 woodland vs UCP vs multicam. Hide in the forest or something and one guy has to find the other

    I had a Hellcat; Medium Alice, MOLLE II harnes/waistbelt, MSS carrier, king cobra weave paracord drag handle, 3L hydration bladder holder, canteen/e-tool holder, USGI machete between the frame & ruck, Fastex buckle conversion and a few 30rd mag pouches...ALL in matching M81 Woodland Camo.
    But by the time I was done with that build, I realized I just could've gotten an unissued USMC ILBE for $75 (which is basically an Arc'Teryx Bora 80 on steroids). And I did exactly that. Traded off the Hellcat, kept my mods off of it and got the IBLE (that is, until the FILBE came out! LOL). Now, I got 2 FILBES, a MOLLE II and like 5 Mystery Ranch rigs + an Eberlestock.

Has so much room for clothes, items, and still have plenty of room to bring back items you may or may not buy while out on your vacation and it beats the hell out of a suitcase. Although you WILL get some weird looks or double takes at airports but 100% worth it.

  • @RavenRedwood
    @RavenRedwood 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Regarding modern rucksacks, it's important to remember that camouflage fabrics are very often in a lighter weight 500D cordura, whereas the solid colors are often in a heavier 1000 denier. You're trading concealment and a lighter base weight for durability.
    While I've beat the hell out of my 130L KarrimorSF ruck and the 500D held up decently, if I buy another one it will be a solid color in heavier canvas.
    You can always throw a camo cover or scrim on it if needed.

    Hey Dutch air assault here. We have WAT different backpack systems. And i noticed you said as you can see all the weight is ontop of my shoulders. Which is super weird to me. Here in the dutch military we get taught to loosen the shoulder straps and get the hip strap (kidney strap) a bit tighter so the weight sits on your hips not your shoulders. Resulting into greater distances with more comfort

    • @Blackbeard1323
      @Blackbeard1323 ปีที่แล้ว

      both are good choices when rucking big distances. Going back and forth with putting the weight on your shoulders and then switching it to your hips and vice versa.

    I’m a huge ruck guy. I actively ruck and carry buckets for exercise. There is something archaic about it, like this is what men do in the real world. Maybe it’s my infantry background. It also translates well to certain jobs (when I trained for fire fighting qualification I rucked 90 pounds on a stair-stepper every day) or for construction carrying heavy equipment.
    My favorite ruck, and this may be because I am a huge supporter of military made products, is the Go Ruck brand ruck sack. They are quality products and they sell accessories (flat weighted plates that insert into premade slots) that make them great for many purposes.
    I can exercise with it, then take the plate out and pack it to the brim with gear for a backpacking trip. Veteran owned and operated, super nice with cool variations, and finance option are available.

      @@Overlord99762 not even half as comfortable as my Kifaru with the Duplex frame. I have both, Kifaru carries weight more vertically and has a much better feeling shoulder strap and hip belt as you order them to your size

      @@Overlord99762 all for nothing it's cheaper than the Mystery Ranch, while still holding 100% made in USA status. It was pricey, but I'm not made of money myself. About 600 into my pack setup and I couldn't imagine any improvements I would want to make

    I rucked dozens and dozens of miles with the Alice for a train up. I beat that thing to hell and back. And it beat me back just as good. Standard straps and pad. Still have a scar on my lower back from a 5 mile run. I also did dozens and dozens of miles with a Mystery Ranch bag. The difference was night and day. With the Alice, that thing is attacking your shoulders non-stop. With the Myster Ranch, it feels like you're wearing nothing at all! I jest, but they are solid rucks and worth the money if you wanna do cool guy stuff.

    Eberlestock Battleship, same kinda design... its like getting spooned... both were based off the Marine ILBE made by a Canadian company.

  • @JakeReillyEDM
    @JakeReillyEDM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The company is called Mystery Ranch, because it's a mystery as to where you're going to find the money to buy one of their rucks. You get what you pay for, and they are the tip of the spear in terms of quality.
    Also, can we get a "Ruck Toss" competition? Just a bunch of old UCP MOLLE II packs with different weights in them being tossed as far as you can throw them.

    it would be nice to see an episode of different countries rucks. Traded cold weather boots for a polish ruck from deployment, its way better then the Molle ruck from CIF

    Question: Which one is the most practical, or what are your thoughts, for when wearing a plate carrier/Chest rig/load bearing equipment and gear belt?
    As you guys know, you don’t need a military ruck when you’re camping or hiking or anytime you’re anywhere where you don’t have to wear body armor or tactical gear etc.
    Hip belts and sternum straps are a cruel joke or just don’t work with chest rigs/plates/gear belts/LBE etc.
    Also, how’s the mystery ranch work wearing a helmets? is there enough clearance behind the head?
    Thanks
