As a JVC Employee, working for over 33 years for this company, this gives me warm feelings, taking me back to the end of the eighties, beginning nineteenth, when we sold great audiosets. The SEA-M770 is a great equaliser and the AX-Z911 still one of our best amplifiers! Thanks for posting this!
Nice to hear that from someone from "inside" :-) This current set is my old one and no longer here. Z911 and some other elements ended up with my father and I have upgraded to 1010 series (XL-Z1011, AX-Z1010 and SX-911 speakers). Honestly I believe it would cost me more than £2000 to have a modern set that could produce similar sound.
I still got my J V C. And Sony rack systems. Crank them up the power is unbelievable

Awesome set up!!! Todays technology will never replace that unique ambience sound.
Now THIS is a PROPER stereo system! Tape Deck, Turntable, CD Player, speakers that dont need a freaking "subwoofer" to help with the bass, and no Bluetooth/MP3/DAB Rubbish in sight.
bluetooth is awesome nowadays, a $25 aliexpress bluetooth converter will outperform any CD player from the ninetees, and competes with DAC's from 2015 up to $300. Its very nice to play with the ease of use, play any song through a vintage system.

I’m 65 years old. And proud to say that I bought my first stereo at 22 years old, in New Jersey 1978. I bought a Technics turntable, a pair of Japanese JVC speakers a Rotel receiver and and Akai reel to reel tape player. All in all I spent close to 700.00$$. Just the cartridges for the turntable were 35.00 dollars. All the components were great. The hard part was to take my friends out of my apartment. Remember guys in those days I was making 2.25$$ per hour. I worked hard to get it but it was worth it beyond expectations. The old stuff is way better than all the expensive ones from today. Those damm JAPS knew their own way in electronics. Blessings to all of you.
I agree with you one way but disagree in another because there is some seriously good kit nowadays too which would blow the water out of alot of vintage hifi gear, but on the other hand, to me, there's nothing like the sound of good ol vinyl

There were just so many formats in the early 90s that you needed a unit for each one and then a main unit plus controllers and converters so you end up with the whole tower

I know it's all very glam, but I miss these days. It didn't just sound pretty cool, it all looked super cool - a kind of sci-fi vision of the future in your living room, yet it's just playing music.
Today, I own high end HiFi costing more than a new car, and it all sounds incredible. Its my dream audiophile system, but somewhere along the journey the excitement and mystery I felt in the 80's and 90's seems desensitized.
I'm also from a sound engineering background, and though not working commercially anymore, I do own my own studio that's a technical dream, yet compared to the commercial studios of the 80's & 90's the same thing has happened. High technology today is amazing, but it doesn't look or represent how we envisioned the future back in the day.
In terms of what we can do in recording and playback technology its now mind blowing. Unfortunately most don't get to hear what real high end sound recording is like. And owning the gear to realise what's possible is a huge investment.
Today, most will use convenient replay systems or stream from music servers into smart phones or Tablets. It sounds okay, but far from what's actually possible.

What a timeless system. I had pretty much the same component for component, except 1977 Phase Linear components. Turntable was a Phillips, Reel to reel was Teac and speakers were Bose 901s on the A channel, and 801s on the B channel, since they were driven at 4ohms. But beautiful man. I miss the sheer force and power of component systems. Yours is gorgeous.

Ahh man...so beautiful...takes me back to 1983 when my parents got our JVC System from Sears for Christmas...I was in 5th grade.... loved that thing....truly awesome technology....not like this stuff of today

Нет. Это когда простая связка 3-4 компонента, еще и звучать умеет. Настоящий Hi Fi, это АС (минимум 3 полосы), с чувствительностью от 91db. Усилитель А класса "либо пред+оконечник", где SNR от 100db. И источник, от -110db. Вот тебе Hi Fi высокого уровня. А вообще, Hi Fi это параметры ттх! Ты лишь озвучил факт, всего навсего. + Hi End никто не отменял. А враг Хорошего, это - Лучшее!
@ШАРИЙ СЕПАР Дык ведь так оно и есть, сам начинал с такой компоновки (за исключением того что в дремучих 90х источник была кассетная дека, затем 1й сидюк Marantz). JVC усь в видео, так себе. У меня помимо Sansui, Marantz, радуют 2шт KENWOOD KA 7011. Вот это усилки ).

This is very nice !!!! I have just acquired a JVC TD-V66 Cassette deck and it replaced my Onkyo deck immediately !!! I have also just got back the 1st CD player I ever owned as I gave it to my cousin years ago .... I am now re-united with my JVC XL-Z444 .... it plays just as good as the day I brought it home almost 25 years ago ...

I own a 1980's JVC cassette deck with their own noise reduction technology (better than Dolby). I just love it. JVC were pioneers in all tape formats.

The real stereos: big, heavy, long runs of cables in the back, expensive, loud as hell.
JVC-AX50 is the greatest amplifier with warm and clear sound with almost flat frequency response.
That is one awesome system there.

All the branded company like sony pioneer JVC Akai technic Panasonic mackintosh fishers marantaz .have stopped manufacturing the tower system . It's very costly for the common people can't afford to buy it but still now a days most of the bank they are providing emi for anything you purchase . Please try to start to manufacture as before there would be a millions of people awaiting to purchase this types of hi fi systems . Think about it

Akai went out of business in the mid 2000's. JVC merged with Kenwood, but both no longer manufactures audio components. You still Have Sony, Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer & Technics that still make receivers and speakers. But that's about it.

Не просто жаль, а практически утрата. Это выглядит не как аппаратура из прошлого, а как аппаратура из будущего. Я бы такой комплект новый купил бы сейчас не задумываясь. Но увы, их уже нету. А то что сейчас есть, то рядом не стоит.

Those are nice quality JVC modules. Love the amp lettering lite like in the background. The deck is on the LEFT, out of JVC "tradition" of putting the tape on the right. Nice sound !!!!!

I have a JVC 5.1 AVR , and it plays great, but I did buy an amp for it / Emotiva. I wish they would still make JVC products like in the 80, and 90's. I bought mine in 1993. Please come back JVC.

Lo que nunca supieron las demás marcas de equipos de excelencia a excepción de JVC , SANSUI , es que el secreto de su belleza estética era el uso de las luces de color ámbar o naranjas que combinadas especialmente con el color negro del equipo de música , les daba una atmósfera muy relajante , cautivadora e hipnótica , además de su excelente sonido , yo lo descubrí la primera vez que ví personalmente un equipo SANSUI , quedé encantado con esas luces y la limpieza del sonido

Моторизованные регуляторы громкости, реально повсеместно использовались в 90-х, любой уважающий себя музцентр их имел. Сейчас почему-то вышли из моды, но тоже кое-где встречаются, на некоторых японских усилителях видел. А мне больше всего оранжевый цвет символов на табло понравился, а то в основном делали какие-нибудь зеленые, скукотища, а тут необычно и, кстати, красиво получилось.
kosmosyche @ вышли потому что : во первых портили звук, во вторых - часто выходили из строя, в третьих- беспонтовая фича от которой быстро отказались по первым двум причинам.

У меня Ямаха пьяно крафт 2010, регулятор громкости моторизирован поскольку весь тракт аналоговый. Нет цифровых звеньев.
