Potential answer (and I promise i'm not trying to troll or anything): I think it's similar to how people view Voldemort vs Umbridge in Harry Potter. Voldemort is CLEARLY the worse individual, he's a mass murderer, wants to rule the world, etc. However, if you ask most HP readers, they tell you they hate Umbridge more. I think it has a lot to do with expectation; people expect Voldemort to be evil so they don't question it, Umbridge however is a teacher and as such is expected to be relatively benign.
Lots of works of fiction have this trope, where there's a big, unknowable evil off in the distance but a more concrete villain (or even an adviser/friend turned villain) that the protagonist deals with more on their level. I think this is why it often seems that there is more vitriol in Clinton's direction; Trump is the big evil mass in the distance causing havoc to the world but Clinton is the one who was supposed to be on the side of good but (in many people's eyes) decided to stab the true hero in the back in her lust for power.
I'm not saying this interpretation is correct or even what my position on the matter is, but I do think that it's a valid reading of the events for folks of a particular political bent.

Honestly, this was a beautiful interview. It's one of the very few times I've seen her actually answer the questions, be completely comfortable and honest and not pander or sell, but make the point while still being funny. Trevor Noah is a great interviewer who asks great, nuanced questions and really helps the other person out with his body language. I have now followed and read him for a while now, and it was a great day for the world when whoever it was at Comedy Central or Jon Stewart's team who found this guy and picked this guy and said, he's going to do it. Wouldn't have been possible without Jon Stewart, but Trevor Noah is a gift unto the world. I sometimes just tune in to listen to that sexy voice. As a comedian, I have learnt much from watching him speak.

I have been a registered Republican since 1999 or 2000. I supported every Republican candidate ever since. From Bush to McCain to Romney, etc. The only time I voted against the Republican nominee is in 2016, where we somehow ended up with the most horribly unqualified and divisive candidate in my lifetime (so far).

That's a quote directly from Hillary's agreement with the DNC. It also allowed Hillary's campaign to decide how funds for the DNC would be used. This is all a violation of the DNC charter and it brings into question the results of the primary. The media wants you to focus on Donna Brazile but the proof is in the agreement. Wow, so for months Hillary denied having any knowledge of the piss dossier before it went public. Now she openly admits if for the first time, and Trevor Noah acts like everything is on the up and up.
For what it matters, you should know the Dossier was made public AFTER the election. And in this interview she didn't address if she knew it before or not. Your brain is distorted. Well aware of when it went public. But she went from saying she knew nothing for the past few months and then this is the first time she actually acknowledges a link between her campaign and the funding of it. Either she only found out recently, which would be awfully convenient and incompetent or she's known longer than she is putting on. Considering both Hillary's camp and the DNC combined put in $12 million, and it's the prized Russia/Trump collusion info, I find it hard to believe she found out after the Washington Post made it a big issue again. I'm inferring a bit into her comments, but she doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point.

The comments on this make me wonder if people watched this at all or if they just read the title, saw her face, and typed in their own knee-jerk opinions. Throughout the campaign, she promoted the most well-researched, comprehensive policies for the American people, and yet people focused on conspiracy theories, "Lock her up!" (based on ill- or non-documented "research"), and baseless emotions...rather than her own words. Which is what many are doing in the reaction to this video.
I say thanks to Secretary Clinton for the thoughtful answers and her years in public service. People might never care to understand how much she benefited the public, or how hard she worked to to better the lives of Americans, but she still continues to roll up her sleeves and fight for democracy regardless of what people think of her. That's a real public servant, in my opinion.
