The seasonal sword, Ill Omen, can also roll AO in the 3rd column and has some decent damage perks as well. The neat part is that the heavy attack on a caster frame sword is 10 hits so if you put it on a target that can take the hits, then it's a free orb for the cost of 3 ammo. I have been running this pretty much since I got it.

Not when used in a group setting, waveframes are bugged. Yeah the ammo economy is better still, but for herald and with the seasonal mod for sword ammo, it's just about DPS. @@arc2561

Important factor of attrition orbs this season is that argent blade eats your armor charge, one player on attrition orbs fixes this for you and keeps the 15% sword buff for the DPS phase.
Attrition Orbs is also just all around great on prismatic since off element siphons cost 3 to equip, so you can drop the need for a siphon matching your weapon for usually minimal loss, given its usually on the reload/utility slot of the weapon and you still get the damage option to pair with it.

No actually! Summum Bonum is the highest DPS sword in the game! According to Aegis's data Summum Bonum with Surrounded is the best, with Chaos Reshaped in close second, though I imagine since Whirlwind and Chaos are so similar, Whirlwind must be in 3rd place.
Another thing, if anyone is on a void subclass with the devour fragment, free healing. Good for the "all void" subclass runs against Herald if you don't have a warlock on your team.
Attrition Orbs is a slept on perk in general imo. In a lot of cases it can act as a sudo damage perk via surge mods but on top of that you get all the other benefits from mods and fragments. It's on a lot of my most used weapons. Multimach with AO + Kinetic Tremors, Parabellum with Heal clip + Attrition for just double heal survivability, Destabilizing + Attrition on The Title, Shoot to loot + Attrition orbs Breakneck. There's just so many amazing ways to use it that lets you play at the highest potential of your build pretty much the entire time and it doesn't require you to get kills to do it. Plus the damage you do to proc it doesn't have to be sustained on a single target, you could be shooting multiple enemies and each of those will count towards it's trigger. It's just too good of a perk for people to be auto dismantling it as often as it seems like when reading some comments and threads online lol.

I was gonna be angry, because well has been nerfed hard and there's legendary weapons with perks better than the super. But honestly, well has been so dominant that it's actually nice to move away from it. That said, I think we should massively buff Nova warp.
For herald, one support warlock with star eater SoF and legend of acrius or tractor and saint 14 shotty trench barrel is good for the damage resist and radiant, this can then cover healing (and radiant). Keep in mind only 1 person should run summun bonnum because waveframe sword drops off when used with other peeple. But there are other swords with this roll.
I think you forget Llama, that Echo of Starvation exists. That fragment instantly gives the user Devour and activates it, granting them 100 HP (200 with Feed The Void) on orb pickup, compared to the 70 HP Recuperation gives. This means Void Warlocks and Void Titans don't have to sacrifice a Surge mod for better survivability, and instead makes them use an S-tier fragment that they would already be using because it's just that good.
I havn't felt like base devour needed help in any end game content I have tried, including gms. I just run around with buried bloodline and already feel immortal.
Have a Parabellum with shoot to loot + attrition orbs and it’s fantastic at generating orbs for boss dps when you can’t run around to grab orbs in time to start dps. Also very good for near infinite survivability in a gm vs champs, with every orb generated healing you.
Been doing this with attrition orb guns, perfect 5th caster ergo, and the renewal/cyrt class item. Survival would be even stronger with this combo, very cool. Too bad wave frame swords take a 40% dip from fireteam scaling. Think more and more ppl will see the value of attrition orbs on weapons, very strong on a 900smg when you can get an orb fast
Caster frames are significantly better for this role, the heavy counts as multiple hits so you can spam even more orbs. Use chivalric fire with relentless for ammo economy, or ill omen with whirlwind for higher dps. You essentially make one orb every 1H2L combo, it's insane.

fun fact, Prismatic hunter actually does more damage with Silence & Squall + Star Eaters class item or boots for Herald of Finality with a sword vs golden gun. I think it has something to do with darkness debuffs + transcendence damage + some other factors, but I spent ~6 hours testing this on master salvations, and every time silence & squall + sword did more than goldy gun + sword
that's interesting - do you perhaps have some video footage on your channel that I can check out? There's light abilities doing more dmg to darkness debuffed targets but unsure how much that would affect it

Interesting idea here me and my team just like running the well over anything else simpler and no need to think well plus speaker turrets we pretty much never die. I might bring this one up and give it a try if someone has this sword with that perk cause I know I wouldn’t have that be my perk unless an adept I get happens to drop with it.
I use it on master and 90% of the time I get another brick and that's enough for the 2 phase. On normal if you need to save ammo, there's something going wrong with the rest of the teams damage.
Does anyone here use argent blade? Because that mod eats armor charges. Without a source of orbs you will lose all your armor charges before damage is over
Adept Weapons from Master Raids now drop with up to triple perks (especially in SE if you have a lot of patterns unlocked for the triumph that increases this)

Super cool but God I hate orbs of power, I wish Bungie would replace them or make a mod that lets them come to you passively. I wanna shoot my enemies 24/7, not have to worry about looking for an orb on the floor for a 5 second buff, time of which will be used up just trying to re position and worry about finding my next orb.
My adept summum bonum has everything I want bar chain reaction: attrition, tireless, relentless, whirlwind, chaos reshaped. The last Perk is one for all, but id like chain just for the fun of it. Weirdly all my adepts since I got all 6 patterns have been 5 or 4 perks instead of 6 but I was fairly often getting 6 before I finished the patterns. RON also at 6/6 but always got 6 perks out of the 20 plus i farmed a couple weeks ago and crota im at 5/6 and generally still had better luck than SE adepts for number of perks. Anyone else experiencing the same?

I have used The False Idols pale heart sword with Att orbs+B&S to easely solo dungeon bosses. It makes it so easy to stay alive in close quarters.
Vortex sword from onslaught also gets attrition orbs and whirlwind blade
