+Kiefer Le Blanc Good question! In processing applications, we are often trying to find a pump that will allow pumping certain amount of fluid in a given time ( i.e. mass flow rate). In this example we determine the power requirements of a pump to meet that need (or mass flow rate). Knowing the power requirement, you can go to a vendor who sells pumps to buy one that meets your needs.
