2021 California MTB Series XCM #4 Big Bear | Open Men | Full Race

- This was the fourth XC Marathon (aka endurance) race of the California Mountain Bike Series. The first three races were at Vail Lake and the final two were at Big Bear Lake.
I was stoked to get a top 5 result. My training for the Swiss Epic was going well at that point. I was training for a multi-day race, so I would race tired on Sunday. But I was still pushing hard with everything I had left in the tank while learning how my body would react.

@@bengoyette I'm here in N. Idaho now and just getting snow. Did they change some of Skyline in the last couple years? I don't recognize the far west side and some around Pirates. Is that Plantation trail? Man I miss those trails.
I don't think the trail changed much in the last 5 years. They do change the layout of the course though. We get off Sky Line at Grand View, and that time we didn't do plantation.
Great job Ben! Just finished watching the race while working out. Nobody’s passing you in big bear! Really shows the level of your training. Really appreciate your efforts in putting up videos so I can work out in the winter and stay in reasonable shape. It really keeps me motivated!

Thanks! I don't know my exact FTP for 2021 as I was mainly focused on multi-day endurance that year and didn't test. But it's typically around 245W. I'm guessing it was lower as I wasn't training much at threshold. Just a LOT of Zone 2 & 3. I'm 41.
How do you like the prologo Chamaeleon grips ?
Those are the stock Scott grips with Prologo bar tape wrapped around. Very comfy
