About the Talk:
Ayurveda is a 3000 years old natural holistic system of Indian medicine. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). It is based on the idea that disease is due to an imbalance of the three doshas - Vaat, Pitta and Kapha.
Ayurveda treatment starts with an internal purification process, followed by a special diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation. Vaidya Dr. Harikumar of Vaidyarama (Coimbatore) talks about the basic theory of Ayurvedic treatment. Vaidyagrama is a ayurvedic Eco friendly village with learned doctors and therapists.

About the speaker:
Dr Harikumar hails from a Namboodiri family in Kerala, and has a rich family tradition of vaidyas, scholars and astrologers in his lineage. After getting trained in Panchakarma treatments, with Shri. Vadakkepaatt Ashtamoorthy Namboodiri for 8 years, he pursued Ayurveda eye care and paediatric care also. He has been practising Ayurveda traditionally for 30 years now, and is part of Vaidyagrama’s healing team since 2012.
