    I first heard that song when I was pealing potatoes and washing up in a hotel in France. Used to sing it to keep myself sane. Now to find out it was written in a kitchen by a guy doing the same job .... amazing.

    First heard this in Crete after a 2 week holiday there, me and my girlfriend had a night flight home booked and were waiting for the coach to the airport. It was about 3am in a small bar and we were struggling to keep awake, the DJ put the extended album track of this song on and everyone, including us, were up dancing. How can you not? Such a sad story though, never knew the origins of the track, if it's true then Fleetwood is quite some A -hole.

    • @tetrahedron1000
      @tetrahedron1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @carolinewoodward1016 Clifford may not have had enough money left to promote Danny's solo albums. I also think that the dull, unattractive cover on "Second Chapter" wouldn't have helped sales. If it had a more attractive cover, with a picture of Danny and his full name in big letters, then it might have sold more copies. However, that is only my idea.

    • @tetrahedron1000
      @tetrahedron1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @carolinewoodward1016 "Second Chapter" may have had a nice cover from an artistic point of view but it wouldn't have attracted attention if someone was looking through record covers in a shop, particularly as it only has his surname on the cover and even that is hard to make out, being dark red and brown on darkish blue. Anyone with bad eyesight probably wouldn't have been able to read it.

    Mick Fleetwood has some nasty skeletons in his closet, just ask Lindsey Buckingham. But by far the douchiest thing he ever did happened when the band was at an impasse with their then guitarist Bob Welch.
    i2.wp.com/www.thetrickismusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/fleetwood-mac-heroes-back-small.jpg?resize=300%2C278
    Fleetwood Mac in the early seventies, from left to right: Bob Welch, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood (with the hat) and Christine McVie, although largely forgotten, the Bob Welch line up of the band actually recorded FIVE albums.
    Fleetwood Mac manager Clifford Davis and Fleetwood had an argument over a booked and already paid for tour of the USA, because of the trouble the band had with Bob Welch they were in no shape to play the tour and Davis remarked "We are going to play that tour even if I have to assemble a band myself and have them perform as 'Fleetwood Mac'" at which Fleetwood suddenly got a twinkle in his eye and said "That is not a bad idea." and so the both of them assembled a new band and had them rehearse for the tour.
    Enter THIS man.
    img.discogs.com/vEMfBfPkkQjZEIgFEfhFaos9Jnw=/600x939/smart/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/A-218598-1439228968-5766.jpeg.jpg
    Elmer Gantry, real name Dave Terry, first popped up on the London blues scene where he made name as a hot-shot singer and guitarist, which is where he was spotted by Davis and Fleetwood, who approached him to join Fleetwood Mac. The fact that he's a virtual body double of Bob Welch also came in handy.
    So what do you do when somebody like Fleetwood is asking you to be in his band?
    - The same you'd do when somebody pushes you a check of a million dollars in your hands: accept it!
    Gantry agreed to do it and the first rehearsals for a tour were booked and Gantry arrived to find Fleetwood there but no John McVie or Christine Perfect, only others from the London scene. Fleetwood explained that this was going to be a complete reforming of the band, only Fleetwood himself and the name would remain. Fleetwood Mac manager Clifford Davis was also there and confirmed the story. Thinking nothing of it Gantry and the others began rehearsing, after all there was a tour of America booked and they were contractually obliged to play the tour, so it didn't matter who was in the band.
    But what Davis and Gantry didn't know was that Fleetwood had a plan, he would allow Davis to start this tour but as soon as he did, he would sue him for fraud, since this was not the real band performing. The whole scheme was to get Davis in court, win over the rights of the name of the band and basically rob Davis of all the clothes on his back.
    The tour started and Fleetwood was a no show and Davis and Gantry were going nuts, what to do? They finally went onstage and played the show and promptly were sued by Fleetwood. After returning to London Gantry found out that in his absence Fleetwood had been soiling his name, Gantry was now the fraud, nobody wanted to work with him.

      The band, Stretch, who recorded "Why Did You Do It" was formed AFTER the shit Mick Fleetwood puled on these two guys. Mick's always been a shady asshole and this story just adds another piece of evidence to that whole life story. What happened to them could have just as easily happened to Stevie and Lindsey if not for the fact that Mick hired them with full intention of fucking Stevie even though she was with Lindsey. Just like he fucked Christine at the same time even though John McVee was supposed to be his best friend. The album Rumors was all about Mick fucking other men's partners and ruining the relationships.
