Absolutely!!!! I’ve been decluttering the last few weeks, little at a time.. then I found my self on Amazon looking at bibles! When I hit me what I was doing I immediately closed out! Thank you so much for reminding us!
You are speaking to me for sure. I make promises that I am not in a place to keep. I must pray for help to stop needless spending. I must ask God to forgive me and to help me do better. I pray for a better 2025 for all of us. Thanks for this series. I can't wait for what you do next on your channels. Thank you, and thank God.
Great topic Char. And one not discussed in the online Bible study and collecting community. It’s almost scoffed about as many share and joke about their obsession. I too struggle in this area and have justified and moralized and rationalized my “collecting” (hoarding) as a greater good. But it’s not, it’s just idolizing the paper rather than the message. Love your channel and content. Keep up the great work.
I have noticed this, too, when it comes to the average online Bible community represented on Facebook and TH-cam (and probably other platforms). I have even recently watched a video by a TH-camr aggressively defending a very large collection as "good" and implying that it showed devotion to God's word (as well as the "better" purchase), especially if the Bibles were of the premium sort. It's sad because many of us fall into the obsessive "collecting," for whatever reason, and for me, it has started to become problematic. I found that it caused more confusion. (My problem is a translation issue. I compared translations so much that I because to doubt any Bible's accuracy.) I, also, fell into the trap that maybe I needed to have a premium Bible that I cannot even afford or justify saving for. This topic is so very important. I have only seen one other Christian TH-camr (in my limited feed, of course) tackle this topic. Thank God they have!
Ouch!(in a good way). Great post. There’s nothing like conviction from the Holy Spirit to keep us on target. The world certainly doesn’t want us to be content…..just the opposite. It’s not that we in the Body of Christ don’t recognize the problem, we just usually don’t want to put in the(sometime hard) work with the Holy Spirit to deal with it. Have a blessed and peace-filled Christmas✨🎄!
Keep being strong, Cher! Most of the TH-camrs on here treat the Bible as an ornament. And when I say most, we're talking about 98% of them! Keep speaking the truth about this.
Exactly. We got caught in the flesh. All thise beautiful Bibles with aesthetic covers and the inside drawings distract us from God's word. its too muh about aesthetics.
You inspired me to give away five of my unused bibles to my church to give as gifts. Thanks for your posts.
