@Zandeel Remmington nah gen 4 is very divicive, people tend to view both gen 5 games favorably in comparison. Platinum imo is the best pokemon game, but looking back Diamond and Pearl was absolute garbage
edit: I should mention I think gen 4 pokemon designs are much stronger, I find most gen 5 mons extremely forgettable and I find most (but certainly not all) gen 4 designs to have much more personality and charm than gen 5
i *still* see people talk shit about gen 5 because “b-b-but trash pokemon” and most people say gen 4 is the best. luckily gen 5 is now considered pretty good, because back then it was literally so hated

Only complaint is giving the bug Pokemon lower scores, to me this was the Bug pokemon gen and completely changed the image of bug Pokemon being weak early game Pokemon.
Especially when you melt the Elite 4 with a Quiver Dancing Volcarona.
I dont remember bug pokemon sucking that much though, yeah Caterpie and Weedle and their second forum, sure, but they also evolved quickly and Butterfree and Beedrill had pretty good movesets at the time I think.
@@olliolivine9770 Butterfree and Beedrill have always been pretty bad on their own but bug types overall had a lot of issues. Biggest issue that plagued Bug Types was actually a lack of decent STAB moves, cause all of the bug type moves were pretty bad (except for Megahorn, which is why Heracross was so good).
In Gen 4 they released a lot of powerful bug moves but it took them until Gen 5 to really capitalise on that with a bunch of powerful bug Pokemon to use them.
@@Chimera-man-man Personally I hated bug types because most of their designs aren't particularly creative. I don't blame them of course, since having to create a pokemon while bound to a design by form and nature is difficult, it still makes all Bud pokemon look similar due to having to follow this structure. Galisopod and Genesect are probably the only bug types I can think of that actually look tough and unique. And Vespequeen is the only one that utilizes gender effectively in its evolutionary line (by that I meant its overall design and lore relevance to its own species, rather than creating a different appearance simply because of its gender).
The bug Pokémon in gen 5 were killer, all cool and different designs, pretty good in battle and made me come to love Bug types. So much so that the Bug type is my favourite and I adore using gen 5 Bugs on my team.
Unova is the KING of bug types. Giving Scolipede a B tier is robbing it of its glory, it’s a beautiful design with such a gallant aura. It stands tall and proud, and is beautiful in so many ways. Same with Gavantula.
My opinion of Vullaby went up a lot when I realized that it's not sitting in an egg shell but instead in a human-like skull. The legs come out of the eye holes and the "heart" is actually the nose hole

The Gen V Pokémon games are my favorites, but surprisingly, I don’t think I count a lot of Unova Pokémon as my favorites. I guess the older ones are more nostalgic for me? Tepig is definitely my favorite starter Pokémon though! Emboar’s beard is sick!

Haxorus was my favourite pokemon to play with, it's such a cool absolute menace of a pokemon, plus, it's attacks were really really strong.

Gen 5 was great overall, apart from the fact that there are many Pokemons who evolve VERY late. Sure in this game it was no problem since Audino genocide was a thing but trying to carry my Mienfoo all the way to 50 in X/Y was TORTURE.

Scolipede will forever be a personal favourite of mine. I love the design and she was on my final team and was with me through the elite 4 and the Champion in Pokemon X. Loved her so much.
I feel like the Gothitelle line was suppose to be a subspecies of the Gardevoir line and I'm sad regional variants wouldn't be a thing for 6 more years.
In retrospect, Gen 5 was probably the best time to introduce regional variants since a good number of them kinda were. Oh well, doesn't matter, still love this region.
I swear if Bisharp is less than an A, imma... respect your opinion as it's all subjective.

I'm sure everyone has heard it a thousand times, but Cobalion, Virizion, Terrakion, and Keldeo are based on the main characters of The Three Musketeers. Cobalion is Athos, the cool, calm, and collected leader of the group. Virizion is Aramis, the romantic, poetic, and somewhat feminine one. Terrakion is Porthos, the large, brawny, and bombastic one. And Keldeo is d'Artagnan, the young newcomer who isn't ever actually a musketeer at all. Knowing that, their designs click a lot more, and after you read the book you really start to see the characters in the Pokémon. I personally think they nailed it with those designs.

Bit of trivia: they designed Samurott before the other two, so just by making oshawott amazing it was inevitable for it to be disappointing

My little brother actually really likes Cryogonal and I don’t know why. I need to ask him some time, I think it could just be the idea of a snowflake being massive and badass haha. Plus I think it has a cool ability, can’t remember though.
I loved the Pokemon videos too! It’s fun to hear different takes on the designs, and your gen 4 takes are valid and I had fun thinking about them since my takes on gen 4 are very positive, you helped me analyze them a bit more and help me find either that I over-rated them or that I under-loved them!

Cryogonal used to be my favorite Pokémon, IDK why, but I haven’t been using it for a while. If I get a shiny one in the Crown Tundra and Hyper Train it then I might start liking it again.
I honestly like it. The fact that it reminds me of Glalie is actually a positive for me. It's got that imposing vibe to it and I always loves these sleek shapes kind of designs.

@@elderalencar4832 I agree, gen 5 fans are SO ANNOYING I even started to hate those games. I was one of the few people who loved Unova back in 2011, when the whole internet was talking shit about gen 5, and I hate how much hypocrities are now the fans, claiming they always loved it and so on.
I actually enjoy Gen 6 and Gen 7. I do not like Sword and Shield, but XY were great, even if lacking, and I think the Alola games are funny and well made.
