The best enchantment has to be Mending, but you can't get it with the Enchantment table. You have great luck by getting Fortune III on your first try! I'd say that Fortune III is one of the best enchantments that you can get from the Enchantment table.
I can’t watch other survival series because Wattles does it best. I will happily sit through stuff I already know for the build and exploration videos haha
For people who are actually new to Minecraft watching Wattles as I started watching him, something he might’ve forgotten is when you combine enchantments in the anvil it’s always a good idea to swap places with the two things you’re combining because it might sometimes cost fewer XP
First: If you are trying for feather falling 4, it's best to have an enchanting table setup for level 22 enchantments. It only has a 2.7% chance of showing up as a level 30 enchantment. However, it has a 31.5% chance as a level 20 enchantment (meaning it could be in the second slot), and a 44.4% chance of showing up as a level 22 enchantment (which would be on the third slot, but with less bookshelves). So, having a level 22 setup will give you a high chance in 2 of the 3 possible slots at the same time. Next: Best enchantment is hands down "mending." It is the bandaid that is making the broken repair system of anvils be bearable (i could go on a rant about easy ways they could fix anvils, and get rid of the OP mending enchantment, but alas). Honorable mentions go to enchantments that change how you play like: silk touch; fortune; looting; respiration; and infinity.
This is partially true, but also misleading. It is true that Feather Falling IV has a higher chance of showing up as a level 20 or 22 enchantment than as a level 30 enchantment, but that does not mean that having a level 22 setup is the best way to get it. There are several factors that affect the probability of getting a specific enchantment, such as the type of item, the material of the item, the number of bookshelves, and the level of enchantment chosen by the player. The percentage that you shared is based on the average probability across all types of items that can be enchanted with Feather Falling IV, which is 2.7% at level 30, 31.5% at level 20, and 44.4% at level 22. However, these probabilities may vary depending on the type and material of the item that you want to enchant. For example, if you want to enchant a pair of diamond boots with Feather Falling IV, the probability of getting it at level 30 is actually 19%, which is much higher than the average probability of 2.7%. The probability of getting it at level 20 is 10.9%, and at level 22 is 15.5%. These probabilities are lower than the average probabilities of 31.5% and 44.4%, because diamond items have a higher enchantment weight than other materials, which means they have a higher chance of getting higher-level enchantments. Therefore, if you have a level 22 setup for diamond boots, you will have a lower chance of getting Feather Falling IV in two of the three possible slots than if you have a level 30 setup. On the other hand, if you want to enchant a book with Feather Falling IV, the probability of getting it at level 30 is actually 38%, which is higher than the average probability of 2.7%. The probability of getting it at level 20 is 24%, and at level 22 is 26%. These probabilities are lower than the average probabilities of 31.5% and 44.4%, because books have a lower enchantment weight than other items, which means they have a lower chance of getting higher-level enchantments. Therefore, if you have a level 22 setup for books, you will have a slightly lower chance of getting Feather Falling IV in two of the three possible slots than if you have a level 30 setup. To sum up, having a level 22 setup for Feather Falling IV is not necessarily the best way to get it, as it depends on the type and material of the item that you want to enchant. The best way to get it is to use an enchanted book with Feather Falling IV and an anvil to apply it to any pair of boots, or to trade with villagers, fish, or loot chests for it. If you want to use an enchanting table, you should check the probabilities for your specific item and material before choosing your enchantment level. I hope this helps!
It really depends on the item type though, what they shared was just the average enchantability percentage. If you want better odds, it’s still better to do level 30. But just make sure you’re using diamond items like you did, or a book! See my reply in this thread for a breakdown. :)
The best series of TH-cam is back and going stronger than ever 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻. Reminds me of guide season 2 after the caves and cliffs update, this Minecraft world you are playing is lovely.
Wattles you have to check out dark oak wood planks, cherry wood planks, and birch wood planks together. It looks like neopolatin ice cream. It's my new favorite.
Fun enchanting fact An old hidden stat is that if you add more than 15 bookshelves it will only cost you 30 levels but you can continue “upgrade” the table to offer better enchantments with more bookshelves
Gah! You're so damn entertaining 😆 😆 just got back into minecraft after a few years break! Time to watch my favorite minecraft creator again! So glad you're still in the groove, my guy!
Incredible luck on that enchant! By far I reckon the best enchant is mending. I've been known to reset a librarian's offers dozens of of times to just to get it in a village before I set up a trading hall - I just lock him in his house. Even pre-zombify/curing it's worth the grind with the farmers to get the emeralds to get the mending book from a librarian.
Mending is definitely the best enchantment but if you put it on a bow instead of infinity you’re insane. Also, I actually learned something from this episode! I didn’t realize bookshelf’s on the corners counted. This is great
Y’all bows are just way too easy to repair and then replace when needed, especially if you have a villager trading hall, so it’s easier just to have one stack of arrows kept in the inventory and the bow. Or even if you don’t have arrows, just kill one skeleton and you’re good.
Since coming back to Minecraft after a while I did notice farming was SLOOOOW!!! And after your planting in rows tip I’m making 60 emeralds per harvest with quite a small farm and only 2 farmers early game! Plus adding tons of extras in the chest for later!
For the best enchantments I would have to break it into categories: overall: Mending (except on bows) General armor: Protection 4 Head: Respiration Feet: Feather Falling 4 General Tools: Unbreaking 3 Pickaxe and Axe: Efficiency 4 (table) or 5 (combined/librarian) Shovel: Silk Touch Sword: Tied between Looting 3 and Sharpness 5 (and Sweeping Edge 3 on Java) Bow: Infinity + Power 5 combination
Doing Wattles said at the end of the episode I gotta say the best enchantment to ever exist is the enchantment of the Subscribe button. When you click it your device get’s enchanted with all the latest Wattles content. Try it out!

All time best enchantment statistically and technically speaking would be mending, but excluding those in that category, fortune and sharpness are up there…
Fortune is a game changer, easily moving you from early to early-mid game and making resource collection way faster. That being said, Feather Falling is my fav cuz it saves me (until Elytra).
Silk Touch axes are better than Fortune III because with silk touch you can pick up campfires, bookshelves, beenests, and chiseled bookshelves without them breaking.
LOVE the use of Taylor Swifts song titles!! I had to give a thumbs up (which i do forever and always anyway) after you said Enchanted, Shake it off and lavender haze in the first 13 seconds😂 and then you also did happiness, Nothing new and Clean?? I didn’t know i could love your vids even more❤️✨✨
I always get infinity on my bow as early as possible! I love to snipe from on top of places and in caves I’m really good with it 😂 Mending is the best though because it’s so helpful for tools and armor
Mending for sure. But I also love silk touch, looting, respiration, feather falling. (And luck of the sea simply because fishing is one of my favorite things to do when I need a building/mining break)
You are lucky in this world! All I get from my enchanting table is unbreaking or trident and crossbow enchants. I ended up turning to villagers and about went insane. Lol Best enchant overall is mending (except the bow that has to be infinity). Consider putting a small dripstone set up with lava and cauldron to easily get rid of the excess. FFIV is always one I try to get early as well. Love the whole spawner set up! Great episode!
@@wattlesplays Awesome! Can’t wait to see it. I liked the wooden floor definitely better than the deepslate tiles since it really kind of blended in, in that environment. I can’t wait to see what you do next!

I never turn down Depth Strider III if it's the first time I'm getting it in the world. The only time it's a tough decision is when you have to pick between Strider, Fortune, or Respiration. And Ancient Cities are my go-to place for lots of books. Usually easier than searching all over the world for villages with Librarians. But I suppose dealing with the Warden is a whole other guide episode, lol.
Hey wattles, what is the name of the song that goes like a Hu a Hu a Hu a ha? In episode #10 you used it at 21:42, you didn’t use it this episode. That song is “magic”
The best enchant depends on what you use it for... I you do PvP you would want sharpness on your sword and protection on you armor... If your mining for ores, fortune would be the best... If your mining for blocks like deepslate, wood, stone, you would want efficiency
For the bow enchantments you as a Java player should get *infinity* because tipped arrows are so difficult to get on Java If there are any bedrock players like me reading this you can tip arrows by putting a potion (usually decay or instant damage II) in a cauldron and clicking that cauldron with arrows, if they haven’t patched it there is a bug where you can click with a full stack of arrows and it used 1 row but tipped *the whole stack!* But if that doesn’t work I would mainly use it for late game.

I feel like enchantments like respiration, depth strider, efficiency and feather falling are all enchantments I take for granted in my long term worlds, and once I'm in a new world, I realize how painstaking things can be without those enchantments. All those are important, but mending, looting, fortune, and protection are probably the most valuable to me.
Wait just a minute. I can't even believe this is happening. you mean to tell me I've been playing I don't know how many years and just this second found out I can just enchant a book? 😖
@@firefox71 there’s so many caveats in the game. It really takes dedication to learn it. True empathy. I used to watched streams to fall asleep then finally decided I’d try playing it and now I’m hooked. Only because I saw so many tips and follies have I gotten as good as I am.
I really like Mending, butFeather Falling IV has saved my life a number of times... so I have to go with FF4 as the best. And congrats on the good luck you had with that pickaxe! I need to find one more diamond to get my table built in this seed, it'd be cool if it gives the same 1st enchant.
wattles!! thank you so much for making this guide!! I'm holding out for a potions episode soon... I keep dying in the nether trying to get blaze rods :\
@24:25 he got silk touch. Why is he "so sad"? I assume it has something to do with the green stats (9 attack damage and 1 attack speed) but I have no idea what that's about. Does enchanting also apply random attributes?
Also I would like to add, not all enchantments are of highest probability at max enchanting table level. Wattles here got incredibly lucky with feather falling 4 as it is one of the rarest enchantments at level 30 being only a 2.7% chance. But if you lower the levels, feather falling probability maxes at level 22 being 44.4%. So if you are particularly having bad luck with an enchantment, check it out online, might have a higher chance at a lower level.
Getting one Mending I librarian villager is worth having 10 of any other villager, especially if you can get him down to one emerald trading through zombie curing or, on Bedrock, using a zombie spawner trading hall.
Anvils are worth their weight in diamonds in spawner rooms to combine dropped armor, weapons, and tools and roll them into tighter levels of matching enchantments. Add mending later and get free, fully repaired equipment instead of smelting everything down.
Feather Falling.. without this have a real think throughout your entire minecraft world or even career… this enchant has saved you more times than you care to notice 😂 it’s my first go to above everything!
Mending is the best overall enchantment though it doesn’t come from the table. For the ones that DO come from the table, I have 3 overall picks: Fortune III Unbreaking III Silk Touch This is because each of these are invaluable in their own way. Unbreaking becomes a lot less valuable if you already have mending, and in that case I’d swap it for Aqua Affinity since doing work underwater is a pain in the ass otherwise.
Another good way to get bookshelves would be a librarian. You should also put a creepy villager ( the guy that like the rotten flesh.. cant remember what theyre called) and turn that flesh into emeralds and xp. You can still get the librarian with bookshelf trade to keep up the book stock for rerolling enchants.
If you can get a good supply of arrows, such as a fletcher villager or a skeleton farm, then mending if better on a bow, just because it saves XP, and the bow will eventually become useless when fixing on an anvil becomes to expensive, so before getting infinity, maybe try and get a fletcher villager
Go fishing for a few hours with an unenchanted rod and catch some enchanted books. Disenchant the ones you don't want (enchantment + Curse of Vanishing) to get free XP.
Best universal enchant is definitely Mending! It goes on tools, armor, and even your shield if you use one! Combine it with a good XP farm and nothing breaks!
Is there a guide to how he built the xp farm inside his base? I just started playing Minecraft because my son wanted to play with me. And he loved this setup. Is there a walkthrough?
hey wattles i saw something that talked about how putting in a gold tool/armour piece in before the piece you actually want to enchant boosts the enchants, i tested it out a little in my world and it seems like it works but maybe you could mention it in the guide!
So I hopped back on In a long wile, Did they change something to the creepers? They explode through a single slap gap now, but I did notice you can collect xp through glass.
The best enchantment has to be Mending, but you can't get it with the Enchantment table. You have great luck by getting Fortune III on your first try! I'd say that Fortune III is one of the best enchantments that you can get from the Enchantment table.

wattles!! thank you so much for making this guide!! I'm holding out for a potions episode soon... I keep dying in the nether trying to get blaze rods :\
soon for sure!!
"enchanted" "shake it off" "lavender haze" ah wattles as a swiftie never ruins my day 🥹
Is it true that level 30 is the same as level 28?
Great video! It helped me understand some things & it was fun to watch. Thank you!
Getting one Mending I librarian villager is worth having 10 of any other villager, especially if you can get him down to one emerald trading through zombie curing or, on Bedrock, using a zombie spawner trading hall.
Wattles : it’s enchanting table with an -ing…
Also wattles a few seconds later at 1:57
The best enchantment is Unbreaking 3. It goes on everything.
Also, bookshelves can be found in abundance in stronghold libraries.
Mending obviously, if it didn’t exist then it would be Unbreaking 3
Honestly, waterbreathing is my favorite enchantment because drowning is the most annoying and exploring the ocean is fun
Love this place too!
Thanks for the tips btw
Anvils are worth their weight in diamonds in spawner rooms to combine dropped armor, weapons, and tools and roll them into tighter levels of matching enchantments. Add mending later and get free, fully repaired equipment instead of smelting everything down.
Mending is by far the best enchantment in the game. it can be put on almost any tool/armor piece and basically makes durability nonexistent.
Feather Falling.. without this have a real think throughout your entire minecraft world or even career… this enchant has saved you more times than you care to notice 😂 it’s my first go to above everything!
Mending is the best overall enchantment though it doesn’t come from the table.
For the ones that DO come from the table, I have 3 overall picks:
Fortune III
Unbreaking III
Silk Touch
This is because each of these are invaluable in their own way. Unbreaking becomes a lot less valuable if you already have mending, and in that case I’d swap it for Aqua Affinity since doing work underwater is a pain in the ass otherwise.
Hey wattles did you know that striders wear netherite boots and that’s why they can walk on lava.
are you going to have a multiplayer series at some point in your channel?
Getting a mutually exclusive enchantment guaranteed and then 2-3 more max lvl enchantments is the best feeling
Oh and best enchant is curse of binding. Throw that on a carves pumpkin and make some dispenser traps on a server.
I don't understand your curse of binding comment. Will you please explain?
If you can get a good supply of arrows, such as a fletcher villager or a skeleton farm, then mending if better on a bow, just because it saves XP, and the bow will eventually become useless when fixing on an anvil becomes to expensive, so before getting infinity, maybe try and get a fletcher villager
am I the only one the noticed all the taylor swift song names at the beginning?
Go fishing for a few hours with an unenchanted rod and catch some enchanted books. Disenchant the ones you don't want (enchantment + Curse of Vanishing) to get free XP.
Best universal enchant is definitely Mending! It goes on tools, armor, and even your shield if you use one! Combine it with a good XP farm and nothing breaks!
Is there a guide to how he built the xp farm inside his base? I just started playing Minecraft because my son wanted to play with me. And he loved this setup. Is there a walkthrough?
You can add chiseled bookshelves near the setup to store enchanted books, and esthetics
hey wattles i saw something that talked about how putting in a gold tool/armour piece in before the piece you actually want to enchant boosts the enchants, i tested it out a little in my world and it seems like it works but maybe you could mention it in the guide!
BEST ENCHANT IS BANE OF ARTHROPODS ITS OP
So I hopped back on In a long wile, Did they change something to the creepers? They explode through a single slap gap now, but I did notice you can collect xp through glass.
Wattles u slept on a blue bed in the village in the last episode 😭😭
