key changes in kpop songs

keep in mind that i am in no way an expert on music theory and am just someone who really loves kpop. i also tried to highlight some more underrated/less known songs and groups in this video rather than just focusing on the ones that everyone knows. trust me, i know that step by kara, ah-choo by lovelyz, deja vu by dreamcatcher and the chaser by infinite exist.

my favourite example of that last category would be chill kill by red velvet. there are actually a bunch of key changes in it, i believe, but for some reason the one in the chorus makes me emotional every time i listen to it.

there are actually TWO key changes that happen in MR MR by SNSD
the first one is on tiffany’s high note (start of last chorus)
and the second one is taeyeon’s high note (the one pointed out in this video)

Chill Kill - Red Velvet (the change from minor to major always gets me ughhhh)
One of these nights - Red Velvet (whoever had the idea to go DOWN in the chorus… a Grammy please)
Red Light - f(x) (the queens of multiple key changes, and the best bridge in kpop dare I say)
Flower Power - SNSD (Japanese releases my beloveds)
frozen - loona yyxy (SOOOO GOOD)

My favourite song that features transitions is A lie by B1A4. It switches between verse and chorus, but for the last climax of the song, it transitions again in a veru grand and orchestral way, it is one of the most beautiful moments in any song EVER
