    Those are all beautiful pots, but that big Tularosa jar is just next-level.

    I’m so happy to hear that your projects can take a month.
    My early exploits into ancient pottery have always felt painfully halting and slow, in the garage waiting for something to dry “just a bit longer” before the next step.
    Keep up the great work. Thanks!

      So many of the steps depend on a certain stage of dryness so it can really drag on, especially if you are having to go to work during that time too. Thanks

    FABULOUS recap of your work this year. Loved seeing all the challenges again. Do you get to see any of the finished pieces that are made by other potters who are taking part in your ancient pottery challenge?

    I love your channel. I'm going to go out and see if I can find any kind of clay on my hikes. I live in Montana, and I know there's bentonite around, but I'm not sure of any other types

    Ive been having this problem with my pottery, when i fire it it fires fine but its kind brittle? It rubs off and leaves powder on my thumb when i rub it with my thumb, any way to fix it? Im up in washington so most of the clay here is glacial clay

    In central Oklahoma I can hit clay at about 2 feet down. Can I use this for pottery?

    • @AncientPottery

    Hey i have a question the clay you made would it be just like the real clay?

    • @AncientPottery
      @AncientPottery  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is real clay. Real clay is mined from the earth just like I dig my clay.

    How many hours for firing?

    • @AncientPottery
      @AncientPottery  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The surface firings happen in less than an hour. The smothered pit firings take several hours waiting for the pits to cool

    Oops. Ocotillo spines or saguaro 🌵 ribs lashed together. This method was used in their settlements for directing wind to create breezes.

    Sir, did you ever correct the problems with using a BBQ as a kiln????
    I have the answer, more oxygen more heat, as you stated,
    Here is a adjustable ,cheap way to produce oxygen on demand for said kiln, .....
    $ store batteries manganese dioxide, mixed with hydrogen peroxide, OXYGEN for pennies from dollar tree ... I also use clay planter pots stacked because this method melts the BBQ LMAO.... But you need a second BBQ to preheat pieces, because this method raises temps so fast with oxygen and charcoal.... For other's, I know you know all that ... Sir.

      PS the pot don't last more than1-3 firings at most
