Best way to remove the tie rod ends and ball joins is to put pressure and use impact. It doesn’t take too much pressure to stop them from spinning. For the ones that face upwards a jack works great, for downward facing I’ve been able to use a pry bar. Holding with torx is a recipe for disaster

Funny that you installed an MMX (MMR) crank hub on this car but said it was an evolve hub

It is just insane that BMW did not engineer a mechanical system such as a key way or spline to make sure the gear can't slip.

6.7 powerstroke has no key way either, which is unbelievably stupid for a diesel producing insane amount of torque to not have a keyed crank.

Other manufacturers use this design as well. Regardless, I believe this design is mostly an ease of assembly thing at the factory because there is no timing cover on these engine blocks. Since only the crank and cams need to be locked at TDC you're torqueing three bolts and engine timing is complete. That said BMW no longer uses this design on the B38/48/58 and S58 engines.

The drill bit they give you with the evolve kit is like cheese. Just be aware you need a 4mm solid carbide bit to actually drill the crank.

We actually gave similar feedback to the Evolve team at the time of filming this, and since then all of the bits have been swapped out to 4mm Jobber Carbide 2 Flute Drill Bit 👍
