This past solar eclipse weekend event was straight line winds up to 20mph on one of the days...thank goodness it stopped on the day of the solar eclipse... No joke, I was chasing my plush chickens more than my real life chickens...😂😂
@@R1NYK0 I had the same experience last weekend! It was so windy and cold and eventually my tent flew away and broke😭I ended up just packing up my stuff and leaving.
Wow! I can’t believe you stayed for the whole event! This just goes to show why you should never pack up early…you could be missing out on sales! Congratulations!!!
Wow! That was a crazy market experience coming from somebody who is worried that they aren't going to have enough time to crochet stuff for a market that is in exactly a month 😅Also, a tip for new crocheters who want to sell their crochet, to price your plushies I would recommend charging for $10-15 an hour (I charge $10 per hour) depending on where you live, and if needed charge for the materials that go into your plushies. For example, if I were to make a bee (About 3 1/2 inches long by 3 inches tall/wide), it takes me about an hour including adding the wings and glueing the safety eyes on. Since it takes me a bit more stuffing than most plushies because it's wide, even though it takes me a little less than an hour to make, I charge $10 because of the material costs. I hope this pricing guide is helpful for somebody out there!
I have my first market soon but I live in an area where I would never sell anything if I charged enough so I'm gonna have to price based on feelings of how much I could get for my items
How fabulous, lukcy you stuck it out! I can't believe you filled up those bags with gravel with your bare hands and your lovely red nails!!!! I hope the nails survived.
I have made that bronto pattern for at least a year now, they've always sold really well for me in person. Mine never line up! The head is always facing one way or the other. I take out 2 rounds in the neck and that helped a bit. I consider you a much more talented crocheter than myself and it makes me feel better that you struggled because I thought it was just me, I haven't really seen anyone else have my same complaint. Congratulations on your market and I love your content!!!
10:40 girl you just needed some good ziplocks or a trash bag double knotted in those weight bags. Gravel totally works but ive also just bought 4-8 gallons of water and tied them down. I do appreciate the rock love 😂
Wow! Kutoz to you for being able to sell your dragons at $55!! I wanted to price mine around there but I just felt like I was underselling myself. I recommend selling them a bit higher to get what it’s really worth. I sell mine for $75 and so far all of them have sold. Although, I have seen people selling them for as high as $165!! Don’t undersell yourself!!
Next time you get a sunburn use pure aloe and/or 100% lavender essential oil. It smells like the dickens for a while but it helps heal burns quickly. Also once you get home take whole milk and even though it sounds gross, apply it several times to your face with a washcloth. It helps to cool the skin and draws out the heat. 😁
Ok, so experience here with walls in wind. I told them in half and have them cover the bottom half of the sidewalls but the wind doesn't catch them like sails on sailboats, but still helps block some of the wind.
just in case you have not thought about it yet, you could always use filled water bottles in the weight bags :). I love all the display racks/items that you use to set up. do you have a list of those? also loved the purple handbag, do you have a video for that?
The water bottles are a GREAT idea thank you! I do not have a list currently, but a lot of them can be found on my Amazon storefront (link in the description of the video), except the crates which I got from Joanns ☺️ the purple handbag was a tutorial I found on TH-cam! I’m not sure which one though😂
Everytime I get a bad burn, I own a aloe plant and if you have one you can just break off a small piece. All natural and I guarantee no breakout. I really hope this helps you.
I sell in northern Michigan just above the bridge. I sell weekly and I have yet to set up with less than 15 mph winds. I have the double sandbags. Because I'm 70 and can't carry the bags full, I fill ziploc freezer bags with sand so I can put them in after they are in place. I can stake where we set up, so I also stake. Just to be sure. I also use to do a weekly market just south of the bridge. It goes to the end of October. I've been there when it was snowing sideways literally. But I still sold $400-600 so it was worth it. I sold my fused glass ornaments then. I'm just getting started with crocheting. I plan to do both. But I have a long way to go with my crocheting. 😁
This is so encouraging! I have a flower farm, so mainly sell flowers but have recently started adding crochet because I enjoy doing it! Do you make your felt eyes? They are adorable!
I am wondering, what do you use to print your signs? On your tables, not the banner. Though, I wouldn't mind finding out who made that, too 😊 thank you! Congratulations on such an awesome show!!!!
Hi Karis! Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering what your go to brand/type of yarn is for your plushies? Hi Karis! Got a question. When you are crocheting the horns onto the cows, how do you do it?? (Like, do you chain 3 and slst down or what?) I am curios because I DO NOT like sewing the horns onto those cows!
@@Sierra4 haha yes!! I chain 4 I believe and slip stitch back into where I attached the yar and it makes a little horn. Then I tie the ends together and hide the yarn! I do it to avoid sewing on horns to make it faster to complete!☺️
I have a question. On your cows what size hook did you use? She used a 5mm but yours looked a tad larger 🤔 They look fantastic by the way! ❤ Congrats on a great day 😊
So crazy this was literally my last market. My tent blew over and knocked everything off my table. P.S. I also filled my weight bags with rocks from my yard and it’s been ten months I never put them back 😂

Hello! You can weigh the project after you’re done to get an exact estimate of how much yarn and materials you used if you wanted them do a little bit of math, but I usually just estimate. I figure out how many plushies I can make with the yarn and then figure out the cost that way, but most of the time the yarn isn’t the big thing to account for, it’s the time lol hope this helps!
So say you pay 10.00 on yarn and you figure you can make 3 animals at 3.33 per animals then do you say two times the labor at 6.66 plus the material so about 10.00 per animal. Just not sure I understand.
@@debrawilson2893 for labor I try to make around $15 an hour, not so much two times the cost of the materials cause some things take a really long time
@@melissastewart5838 it does cover the materials and time! They cost about $10 to make, and about 3 hours to crochet. Right now I try to charge about $15/hr for my time, and hope to increase that a little bit in the future. But here, no one batted an eye at $55, so I think that $60 or $65 would be acceptable too☺️
