Very nicely Done. Nice tempo, the acoustics are well suited for this piece. I like the build up at the end. This is a magnificent tone poem based on the simplest os themes. One would think no drama, but you see at the end when the bells of so many churches are pealing.... Incredible. Well Done, boy. Excellent.
Very excellent playing! It is so fun to see a young person enjoying playing this difficult instrument and with such accuracy. Hoping you can continue to work on the great skill and talent you have that many people will be able to enjoy your music in the years to come.
Andy very interesting performance. From the play back as l watched it seems there was a volume/ registry issue at hand. You have so much talent and l enjoy your other performances. May l suggest your studying Virgil Fox's interpretation of this piece. In doing so you will hear the power and dynamic tonations by which he showcases notes & measures. The surge he delivers within the work is most profound. There is a thrilling air of excitement a bizinga if you will. Of course Virgil played by heart ...no sheet music and without question this affords tremendous freedom for the fullest in artistic expression. So check it out ..... it's a neat/ fun work and you will gain more passion for it in time. Blessings to you. PS: which musical institution are you attending & learning from?
@Wick Elderkin - Virgil Fox would be the last person I would recommend him learning from - he murdered Bach and widor like Diane bish did- they had no idea of how to play french music and listening to their performances compared to like of Olivier latry and Daniel Roth just shows how badly they butchered french and German music - as for Virgil Fox - his performances were renowned for having multiple mistakes throughout, with ludicrous tempos and phrasing as well as registration- I wouldn’t put Fox or bish anywhere near the top 20 organists - Diane bish technically was more on point and had good technique but good technique doesn’t always equate to correct or good musicality- there’s a huge gulf between American organists compared to European and especially french/German organists who seem to understand the music on a different level - for example the bish/fox performances of widor 5th finale is absolutely terrible - rushed at a million miles an hour with mistakes aplenty - now listen to Roth/latry and I forget his name but a quick search of widor toccata and the one at the basilica with the organist in a white jacket are some of the greatest realisations of this work- Fox was about showmanship not about being technically sound and performing without a lot of mistakes to ignorant crowds - anyone whose worth their salt as an organist and musician can hear the glaring mistakes through many of his performances - I would suggest this young man goes to France to learn from the best there
That was so excellent Andy. I really enjoyed that. Thank you.
