I have a 1990 one since it was a year old, & it has never let me down. I change oil & filter regularly & a yearly service. A good alrounder I even tour with it riding 2up.

I bought mine in 2000 because I needed a reliable bike . Now, 24 years later it is the only bike I have that is drivable. There are many reasons for this.. this is a great bike for daily driving. It keeps you out of trouble because you’re not racing. If you rev it up it does keep up with smaller bikes. I wish I had gotten a bigger bike however . I added the gel seat which was available back then and a loud exhaust which I remove because I like the stock sound better .

I had this as daily commuter. It's a proper bike for longer hauls. Kind of missing low end torque. The GSX-R heritage thing. It is flubby on S turns, stock suspension is too soft for a heavy rider. Highways are great though. Very stable and comfortable. A bit hard to service I found out. Everything is tucked behind fairings. Including air filter which is buried deep. The oil filter has the exhaust downpipes straight in front of the filter which makes removal a pain. At least without a flexible tool. I had a simple oil filter puller which couldn't twist without downpipe removal. Pain. Oh and on mine the oil pressure chain cam tensioner went bad at only 18.000km which lies in the back centre of the engine so another teardown required. A manual one is a better and more permanent option.
In the end this made me switch to naked bikes just for the sake of maintaining the bike properly.
Also the engine on the 600 and 750 is the same. They use cilinder bushings with smaller pistons to go down to 600cc EU kW requirements made it this way.
Also the carbs. Oh man. They would freeze in cold weather making it run poor or on 3 cilinders. But when it got up to temp it would run smooth.
All in all. I'd get a bandit anyday of the week before ever picking up a F again.
    I now ride a 2019 SV650a daily.
My dad had the original F750 from 1991 switching over from R models. Because of the better positioning on the bike. That bike had way more power.
The exhaust is huge and needed to be swapped but I didn't want to mess with jets. It really chokes the bike output a lot. The cat eats HP.
So many small things about this bike. It is kind of you get what you pay for.

Reading this make me realise a lot of I leave my katana out in the cold for a long time it runs on 3 cylinders and warms up to 4 and I’ve been through carbs, also mines got decent miles now was wondering how bad was it to do a chain on yours did you split the cases or split the chain link ?

I am considering buying this as my first motorcycle but have had problems with comfort on other bikes I rode, namely the GS500 and MT07. I'm 1,80m (5'10") and 95kg (210lbs). How do you think the suspension would do with a rider my size and how comfortable, as in knee angle etc., is it?

i've owned a 1999 and now have a 2006 the 99 model is slimer then the 06 model the 2006 GSXF feel more comfortable and better at handling with a wider rear tyer and frame you should do a review with the after market racing can on compared to stock and handling or have 2 bikes one with stock and one with the racing can on.

Oh man I loved the engine in mine. It was heaps of fun!
Sadly I never got the riding position right. My legs would cramp and wrists would go numb after only 45 mins even with risers.
Ended up selling it for a dual sport. I dont miss the disomfort but sometimes on long stretches of straight road I do miss the almighty grunt of the 750.

I have had 2002 and 1991 models. There were years in between, having the newer model first. My intuition was and is that the older version was more aggressive and sporty, but even that really does not have the grunt of a modern, fuel injected models. If you need that, get something else. The acceleration between, say, 0 and 150 km/h is still not limited by the power but by rider's skills. At least the older version can be ridden aggressively, as long as you are not going to compete with a gixxer on the course, ridden by an expert. If exhaust noise doesn't please you, wear worse ear plugs!
Compared to the modern digital monstrosities, 750F is archaic. There are no bells, no whistles and not much other instruments, either. But in most cases, you don't reach your destination any later than anybody else. On a track, this Suzy is, I guess, more like a seal than a cheetah. Get something else there. I have ridden this thing over 200 km/h, illegally, on a country road (dear police officer, it was in 2002, it is late to punish me for that...). I would not call it agile at that speed. For stopping you need half a kilometre of decisive braking. Turning radius is like a high speed railway. My helmet was danging around my head, which was caused by bad aerodynamics of both, the helmet and the fairings. 170 - 180 km/h is nice and she behaves nicely, or at least, only a bit sluggishly. More ordinary highway speeds are perfectly alright. The only thing to modify is the windscreen height or shape so that the vortex don't rumble around your helmet.
So, the 750F is like a Finnish knife. Not really bad for anything but brilliant for nothing. Too cramped for hundreds of kilometres a day. To heavy for commuting. Too heavy for racing. Too light to be used as a tractor. She is like a bit plump girl next door. In your teenage, you don't see anything special in her. After getting a bit more mature, you note how nice and easy she is to be with.
Outlooks... the original tea pot is not precisely a miss highway. The latter version is like a slightly plump girl friend: looks friendly, does not turn heads of those passed by. Her face is a bit swollen, as if she had a hangover. But especially the black one, if clean and shiny, isn't ugly, not indeed. Some very thoroughly thought golden details could enhance her outlooks. The metallic dark red is good, too. However, when a professional designer has drawn something, enhancing it is quite hard for a layman. No stickers or stripes will make her a gixxer.
After all this preaching, should I buy one again, and paint it metallic pink? :D

Mal, mal y otra vez mal.
