Dude, Earth X is one of my all-time favorites! Right up there with Marvels and Kingdom Come. Fun fact, Alex Ross had the idea for Earth X as a gag. KC had been a huge success and so fans were interested in the same treatment for the Marvel characters. One of the earliest characters created was the retired, out of shape Peter Parker. This info comes from an article in Wizard Magazine, however, I cannot recall if it was from a regular monthly issue or an Alex Ross special released in the late 90's or early 2000's. But yeah, originally Earth X started as a parody of Kingdom Come.

Its a very good story. Surpasses the title of comic book, in my opinion, and transcends to a deep melancholic tale of humanity and purpose, meanwhile connecting the stories of every hero in the marvel universe.

The truth is: it explains the MU better by retconning (just) a few minor things...which isn't a big deal because Marvel has been retconned to shit since this story came out, so its a bit ironic.

Good ol' days...Jim Krueger interacted with fans every day on (comi)xfan forums during that whole trilogy. He even wrote in some things for the fans due to their input...he followed my thoughts on who I figured 'The Adversary' always was.
Earth X is one of the stories that shaped the modern paradigm to comics as we know it now, taking it to more complicated, and deeper depths of lore and development. Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis and series like "Authority" inspired off of "Watchmen", this was marvel tapping into what DC already had, but segregated by Vertigo. Great series. Creatively and mentally provoking. I'd bet talents like Johnathan Hickman would cite this story as an influence.
I bought the entire Earth X series back in 05 and its what got me back into comics. SO glad you are covering it finally! The galactus reveal...yeah...its epic! Daredevil in this (debate is still going on if its Deadpool or not) is still one of my all time favorite characters.

Rob! Oh man! I'm so glad to see you covering Earth X. It's one of my favorite books. it took me forever to find Paradise X vol 1, so I could finish the series. So I'm eager to hear your thoughts on them all.
I actually loved this series, Earth X is the best while Paradise X became a bit too crazy to be honest, but overall it introduces so many cool concepts to the Marvel Universe, that it's actually sad it's not real. It's weird because many people hate it or think it's trash, but I enjoyed every second of it.
Thanks for the awesome memories! Earth X was one of those mind blowing stories that just totally trivialized all the marginal stories Marvel was putting out at the time. After Marvels, I was jonesing for another masterpiece. Awesome cover art! Machine Man X-51! And a plausible tie between Inhumans and the Big guy! I sorta got lost near the end of ParadiseX and couldn’t keep up... got married and had kids. Looking forward to seeing you take this through to the end of Universe X!
Earth-X is my favorite series, beating the Dark Knight Returns by a slim margin. Despite not being official canon, a lot of the ideas in it eventually entered 'actual' Marvel continuity.
Love your enthusiasm when discussing this story. One of my favorite Marvel stories, I like how at the beginning of each issue they give a brief history of the character and at the end a script or monologue. Also I think this may have been the first story to explain the nature of certain cosmic beings.When I first saw Alex Ross sketches of this I knew we were going to be in a great ride. I only wish Ross had actually done the interior artwork like he did with Kingdom Come.

When I pick up this graphic novel I was disappointed that Alex Ross didn't illustrate the whole book, but to the books' credit it was still a go read.
