Great tutorial video!!! Really easy to follow. So glad you went into the submodes. I don't ever recall any other reviewer going into these wonderful features. I do own this lil gem and am very pleased with it.
Thank you very much. Very instructive. You can mimic Spotlight mode by setting Spark at desired location and height, set up for Tracking but just don’t hit “go”. Press record and it will perform as Spotlight.
Nice review of some of the hidden features in gesture mode. A firmware update and a app updated arrived this week and added some new and improved features to the Spark.
Who here tried the Walkera Vitus, interesting drone. Hopefully there will be review on them soon since its still a new drone. It would be cool if you review it might be a great option.
I'm sure you can have like a spotlight feature by putting spark in the air and activating active track and record but don't press go on the highlighted subject ....I think .....hope this helps
As always: Great additional info, just received mine Saturday, hopefully the 3rd android tablet will be a winner. 1st short fight today on the remote. After lots of the $55 and under drones, trust comes slowly, as the price tag raises.
Not necessarily. I like the Spark for what it is. A quick launch vacation selfie drone. I really like the gesture control features to very quickly get it in the air, take a photo (or now video), land it on your hand, and then go on with your vacation.
Do you know if the software got updated fix the issues you noticed? Such as not selecting the active track in the same way as other drones and not having Spotlight mode?
Hi. Love all your videos. I Blokart which is a land sailer. I play around on the beaches and at times I go through water that's maybe 2 inches deep or a maximum depth of 6" (for a handful of seconds. I live in Australia now and the beach we use these on is very flat and tidal...do I have to have the tablet/phone onboard for active track/trace mode to follow me as such? I don't want to risk getting it wet
Hello QC101. I have one area of concern with the Spark. My phone does not support 5G Wi-Fi. Will it work with the OTC cable? I am torn between the Spark and the Hubsan 109S with its FPV screen on the controller. I can't upgrade the phone yet. I do have a Samsung Galaxy 5, but with a broken screen and am using a Samsung J3 right now, again, which does not have 5G... Thank you.
Good demo of the various modes. I'm not sure what kind of Android phone you have, but it seems to be a bit lacking in 'horsepower', as you were getting a lot of blurred and frozen frames. Sometimes that can happen if you have a lot of stuff running in the background. When I first got my Spark, I used my personal cell phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which has enough power, but I also made sure nothing else was running in the background. Since then, in order to have a slightly bigger screen, and also having a dedicated "device" on which I can turn off everything but DJI GO 4, I picked up a used (unlocked) Samsung Note 4. I really like the bigger screen and not having to go into the APP mgr. and turn stuff off. I use the Note 4 with the Spark RC, connected via an OTG cable, and that has worked out really well as far as solid video the device screen. I'll bet you're enjoying the cool 70's while in Pa (I'm not that far away, and that's the temp we have here). Enjoy your vacation ... get up to Lake Erie if you can to get some nice lake breezes. Cheers.
Didn't you bring your Nvidia Shield with you? That has a built in screen recorder, and probably has more horsepower than your phone .. just a thought. I don't often use a screen recorder (have no reason to really), but if I do, and I'm using the Nvidia, I use the built in one. On my cell phones, I use Mobizen. I do get an occasional freeze up on the cell phones, but not as bad as on yours. I think ALL my Android devices are running Android version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow .. had to downgrade the Nvidia which had updated to Nougat). Enjoy the cool weather!
That's what I'm using for my Spark. I bought a used Samsung Note 4 on eBay, its unlocked but has no SIM. I don't plan to use it for anything except for the Spark, and for that it works great. Good CPU/GPU lots of memory and a nice big 5.7 inch x 3.25 inch screen.
You can get a controller. Look for "Spark Fly More Combo" or just buy it separately. But it will move this selfie-drone into the semi-pro price range and I dont think it's worth it compared to a Mavic.

Yes that s right, me too
It's amazing how far these have advanced in just a few years.
The video quality is surprisingly good.

That’s an awesome size for a high quality drone. Also, KILLER shirt dude! I love it!
The Spark is a great little platform, I have been very happy with mine. Thanks for the detailed info! -Jamie

Thanks great video explaining trace mode
Very good job explaining. I didn't know how to switch from one to the other, not as easy as mav 2

Interesting review. Good explanations of the functions and their behaviours. Was that a bird or a big bug flying past at 4:26?
Would you recommend the Mavik over this, just for the simple fact the Mavik is bigger and probably more stable in winds?
Not necessarily. I like the Spark for what it is. A quick launch vacation selfie drone. I really like the gesture control features to very quickly get it in the air, take a photo (or now video), land it on your hand, and then go on with your vacation.
The Spark actually deals with wind better than the Magic.

Great detailed review! Crisp 1080p Tiedye, Cool!

Yeah, it's probably because I'm running a screen recorder app (Mobizen).

Can you use an Android phone or old iPhone without a SIM card / service as a dedicated device?
That's what I'm using for my Spark. I bought a used Samsung Note 4 on eBay, its unlocked but has no SIM. I don't plan to use it for anything except for the Spark, and for that it works great. Good CPU/GPU lots of memory and a nice big 5.7 inch x 3.25 inch screen.
1:38 to 1:40 he said a bad word and not saying Sorry I was laughing and almost died lol
the spark does not change altitude
while tracing me, I want him to trace me while snowboarding
can it track you from any distance or height? like lower and closer? like a camera crew following you around
also can you get a controller or is it only smartphone
You can get a controller. Look for "Spark Fly More Combo" or just buy it separately.
But it will move this selfie-drone into the semi-pro price range and I dont think it's worth it compared to a Mavic.
How long is flight time?
+Hot Wheels 956 it is about 16 minutes per battery. I have two batteries for my spark and get about 32 minutes.
great vid ,what is the range and flight time of the spark?
Range without a controller is like every other wifi drone, approx 100m - and with a controller 2 km+
iMeMySelf do us it come wit a controller?
The Fly-More package is 599 dollars including a controller.
Thanks for the in-depth tutorial! What software do you use for showing your phone screen on your video?
Mobizen free screen recorder goo.gl/Ny1KiY
Very Helpful !

Thanks cool video.
If you hold your arm at about a 45º angle it will begin recording a video and it will stop the video as well.
