I grew up in Keller and we used to go here. (I think it was only $9 all you can play when I was a kid, lol, but those sorts of things have to change). I'm glad to see it's still open- the layout of everything looks exactly the same as it did like 12-14 years ago. One day when we were little my brother and I stood in front of Battletoads for what must have been nearly all day and played it all the way through- abusing the infinite lives on account of the all-you-can-play, of course.
Wow, I didn't know it has been there that long! I was there again a couple of months ago. I talked to Terry for a little while. He's clearly been in the business a while and loves it. The unlimited play model is the best in my opinion. You can to try more games and can easily play through a whole game without running out of money.
My brother had a birthday party at this place in the mid 00s, and I'm glad to see it's still around. I haven't been there in a good long while unfortunately.
It's worth a visit if you're in the area. I've been back a few times. They've changed up the game selection each time. Its nice they don't let it get old by rotating the the selection.
I just visited Galloping Ghost in the Chicago area for my birthday. It's probably the largest arcade in the world as far as the number of games available to play. It's really impressive, but it's really tight in there, so it's kinda hard to walk around if there are a lot of people there. So definitely don't go on a Friday while kids are on Christmas break from school like I did. They're open till 2 AM, so like 10 PM is probably a better time to go. They also were pretty good at the upkeep on their games. Out of 700+ games, probably about 10 weren't working that I noticed. I highly recommend that place if you're ever in the area. A lot of the games are 2 to a cabinet with a button to switch boards, but that's to be expected with that many games. They also add a new game every Monday and stream the unveiling live on Twitch. The owner is a pretty cool guy. Also, as someone already mentioned, the four Free Play arcade locations in Texas are probably your best bet. I've not been there yet, but from their TH-cam videos, it looks like they don't only maintain the working status of their machines, they get them to mint condition. I'll definitely be taking a visit there at some point. I'd recommend you check out their channel to see why everyone is mentioning them on here. They look pretty legitimate. Free Play arcade Texas.
Oh man, Galloping Ghost is on the top of my list! I may be going this year with another TH-camr. Thanks for the tips, I will definitely visit on a weekday or late at night. I've been to Free Play in Richardson and Arlington so far. Those are amazing places too! I'm planning to visit the new downtown Fort Worth location this week. I'd love to record a video there too so I may wait until I can go when school is back in. The DFW area has way too many arcades, we could use one of them down here!
Damn killer, that place is awesome!!! I wish i lived near there id be there just about every day lol. Everything looks amazing and well taking care of. I miss the 90s. Such good arcade games and good times! I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
There's a great arcade called Electric Starship Arcade that's in Watauga, TX which is like 10-15 minutes away from Tornado Terry's. They have a bunch of rare, classic arcade games as well as some newer ones. They also have a large assortment of delicious hotdogs!
You want to know something really funny. I've been there want to know why? LOL, two years ago Terry had two Killer Instinct machines there. One was for sale. That's where I got my Original Killer Instinct 1 arcade from was from Terry. He was the original owner of both the two cabs in 1994 so yeah there's where my KI arcade came from hahaha.
That's pretty cool. I went there two years ago and talked to him about his KI cabinets and he told me he had another one for sale. It's probably really rare to find a KI cabinet that is being sold by the original owner now days.
What an awesome place.Wish one in that great shape was closer to me.I mean this is my entire childhood and all in great shape which is rare.Like you said most jusy aren't kept up
I really wish there was something like this near me too. I really think we will see more of these popping up though. It's becoming quite popular to have these all you can play style places with classic games. The generation that really enjoyed arcades are now in their 20's/30's/40's and even 50's. They can supplement their cost of operating by selling alcohol too. I can tell you the Dallas/Fort Worth area has 4-5 of these kinds of places...sadly, I have none haha.
I lived on Keller hicks road when I was kid and a friend of mine lived next door to it and I used to go in there when it was like 4 dollars to enter. Cool vid!
@@KillerArcadeGames I hope so too. I just saw they sell arcade parts online too so I might have to support them a little that way. They've made it through some other tough moments so I'd bet on them!
@ianthornton, Tornado Terry’s announces they’d be reopening June 10th. Also, check out my TH-cam channel, the NES Chronicles. Here is an episode where I went to Tornado Terry’s. m.th-cam.com/video/uT9VRcjv_wo/w-d-xo.html
I have been watching your videos lately, didn't realize you were in Texas. I love Free Play in Arlington. They have an original Robotron there that is amazing.
The Dallas/Fort Worth area has some great arcades. I'm jealous! Cidercade opening in Austin recently which has been nice, its only an hour drive for me. Free Play is awesome, I think I've been to all of the locations. I just visited Tornado Terry's again a week or so ago. Thanks for checking out the channel! Once all this virus stuff is finally "over" I plan to do some meet ups at Texas arcades for anyone in the area.
@@KillerArcadeGames I have heard about Cidercade, I hear it's quite nice. I live in Hill County, so everything is a drive for me. There is a new place in Waco called Putters I have yet to visit.
Sweet video! There is also a place in the Dallas area called Free Play that's a what I call a buffet style all you can play for I believe around the same price. Game on my brotha!
I've been two the Richardson and Arlington Free Play so far. They are great! I'm possibly going to the new Free Play in downtown Fort Worth soon. I'd like to do a similar video of that place. Dallas/Fort Worth has too many arcades! We don't have hardly in San Antonio. There's a few barcades that seem to only have maybe 10 games. My wife loved going to Free Play so much she emailed the owner asking if they'd be interested in a franchise location here haha. I don't know where we'd get the money to open an arcade though.
Killer Instinct is my favorite arcade game. Mortal Kombat was what drew me into arcades but seeing Killer Instinct for the first time made me say "I will own this one day." It technically never happened but at least I got the Arcade1Up version!
Thanks Adam! I was worried people wouldn't like this style of video. I will certainly try to visit more arcades. I'd prefer to do it when they're mostly empty so I don't have to feel weird recording people or kids playing haha.
I have! I've been to all of their locations. I'd love to do a video of them but I don't live in Dallas/FW so I have to drive about 4 hours to get there lol. I'd rather not record a place with tons of people in it who probably wouldn't want to be in my videos lol. Great places though!
@@KillerArcadeGames I completely understand. I myself live about 2 hours away. I have met Terry, he is an amazing person and he has worked on a few of my arcades. He has also sold me a few arcades in the past. I’m glad you made this video and that your supporting Terry Tornado. We need to keep these arcade owners in business. It brings a lot of joy seeing these 30 to 40 year old machines still being played.
I love light gun games so much. My plan was to build my own cabinet but I may wait a little longer to wait for the better light gun technology that's supposed to be coming soon.
I haven't yet. I was going to go last week but I ended up going to the Richardson location and then went to the Bishop Cidarcade. I'm hoping to contact the owner/manager and see if they'd be okay with me coming in when they're closed or right before they open to get some video of these places. The owner of Free Play seems to really be passionate about arcade games so he may be cool with it!
@@KillerArcadeGames That's awesome man! Yeah, that would be nice if you could shoot a video in there. It would help out there business so I don't see why. Good luck man! Hope to catch a video of them on here!

🤔ARCADE 92 in Mckinney,Texas is better. I always get so excited when I hear that in an arcade. It's such an iconic soundtrack you can hear it from across the room.
