    The lock would have been better if the key itself completed a circuit so the alarm would still go off without the key or at least a bit of metal connecting the contacts.

    • @111chicane
      @111chicane 6 ปีที่แล้ว +229

      Chalky , That would have been extremely hard and expensive for manufacturing since it's all metal. Imagine individually insulating the pins from the core and connecting them to the electronic board through the rotating core... Impossible! Better off placing a switch behind the core to be pressed by the tip of the key while inserted all the way in. But it's still unnecessary complication of the design. It's good enough the way it is. No-one will attempt picking this lock when there are much easier ways to open it.

    • @bird718

    Unlike the rest of the vids, I'm with the lock on this one.
    The speaker comes underneath the shackle. When locked to something, it will be really tough to silence it without shaking it/triggering the alarm.
    Plus through out the video, LPL has his thumb going through the shackle space, something which he couldn't manage if it was locked in the first place. Surely he could pick it open from another angle, but that would increase chances of triggering the alarm.
    The video is already long enough and with the above conditions factored in, I would say this is a tough pick (Unless Bosnian Bill and he decided to make a special too for this!)

    I think it's a nice touch to get the sound alarm, because it could be very helpful if you are close to the padlock, but not in direct sight. Downside is that it can give you a false sense of security, such that if you don't hear the alarm you'd think everything is fine and dandy, while in the mean time one is loose, so is two and there is a click out of three..

    New idea for lockpickers, rig up a machine to jostle the lock at a set time and throw away the key so you have to pick the lock to silence the alarm. Alarm (c)lock!

      well cutting may be a problem, especially because when the lock falls off with the alarm setting part of the shackle still inside will certainly set off that alarm, but you can hammer off the body from the shackle without too much problem as another video shows.

    I think an important thing to note is that a lot of these different kinds of locks that can be bypassed can have a place. This lock could be used in a location that you may not have your eye on at all times but you will come close to often enough.

    My dad has one of these on his shed, so far it has stopped three would be burglaries. People who tend to try and break into garden sheds and such aren't usually sophisticated when it comes to the breaking in part. This, is a fantastic idea for a lock for something such as a garden shed. Obviously with it being Chinese the quality isn't going to be top notch but for the £5 it cost my dad is has saved him that 1000 fold.

    2 things
    1. Try picking it whilst it's hanging from a gate or in my case a tow point on my 4x4 2ft arms reach away so if it gets knicked in the night they wake all my neighbours up
    2. Just pours a little boiling salt water with a bit of sand in it into the speaker hole, no noise at all ceases things

    I picked one of these up at a car boot sale today because it looked interesting and I figured I'd forward it to LPL if he hadn't already negotiated one. Well, imagine my surprise when I found this video. The battery is replaced by removing the shackle and there is a posi-screw at the bottom of each shackle well. Unscrew those and the bottom pops off revealing 6xLR44 cells.
