Its actually good for locking your cheap bicycle outside your door or that sort of thing considering it has alarm for brute force and took an expert 2 min+ to pick
I hate alarms on locks and electric mopeds. They are always going off for no reason - constantly. Its not a deterrent as everyone just ignores them. Its a nuisance and annoyance just asking for a baseball bat.
Da Hai Zhu It’s funny because if someone is actually picking the lock no one will pay attention, they will assume the alarm is just going off for no good reason
I can agree with this. I had one on my motorcycle and if the wind blew I was having to turn off the alarm. It got so bad I took the battery out so there was no alarm to go off so you would have been clean and clear.
The lock would have been better if the key itself completed a circuit so the alarm would still go off without the key or at least a bit of metal connecting the contacts.
Chalky , That would have been extremely hard and expensive for manufacturing since it's all metal. Imagine individually insulating the pins from the core and connecting them to the electronic board through the rotating core... Impossible! Better off placing a switch behind the core to be pressed by the tip of the key while inserted all the way in. But it's still unnecessary complication of the design. It's good enough the way it is. No-one will attempt picking this lock when there are much easier ways to open it.
Or better yet, user a chip, since the inside is powered electronics, only the presence of the chip's RFID should disable the alarm, or even the release pin of the bolts. No need to mess with circuitry completion inside the key.
Unlike the rest of the vids, I'm with the lock on this one. The speaker comes underneath the shackle. When locked to something, it will be really tough to silence it without shaking it/triggering the alarm. Plus through out the video, LPL has his thumb going through the shackle space, something which he couldn't manage if it was locked in the first place. Surely he could pick it open from another angle, but that would increase chances of triggering the alarm. The video is already long enough and with the above conditions factored in, I would say this is a tough pick (Unless Bosnian Bill and he decided to make a special too for this!)
Obviously your use left it exposed to weather. Did you use it on a bicycle or motorcycle? In an ad for this lock, they showed it locked around some bike wheel spokes, crazy...can cut spokes with a small wire cutter.
There are a lot of good Chinese locks. For example my home in China use these two locks: imgur.com/a/kMQscND. Especially the right one in the image I haven't found anyone who can pick it yet (CEI 385T). It's just how much you want to spend (still very cheap compare with MulTLock).
