Shanahan is so masterful at throwing the same looks but hitting different weapons. Really keeps the defense guessing.
That last TD with the "tunnel" screen, though, was a thing of beauty. That was Shanahan showing off and putting the final stamp on this beatdown of the Eagles.

The amount of misdirection within the offense along with the multiple playmakers they have really gives them endless amount of options.
      Thanks for watching

Great analysis! 49ers came out passing the ball as the Eagles came out in 5 man fronts to stop the run. 49ers went to their 4 x 1 game and the Eagles had no answers. Also one of the main reasons that tunnel screen popped was CMC influencing the one guy #53 just enough that he couldn't make a play on Deebo.

    • @TheCoachPlays
      @TheCoachPlays  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

No doubt on the tunnel screen. There are so many plays that are married to each other with the different motions that they do that defenses have to honor , and that’s where you get the big plays like the tunnel screen because defenders eyes have to check somewhere else for a split second and then it’s too late

The Eagles never have answers because like Todd Bowles, Nick Sirianni has a philosophy he never strays from (that I've seen(. He sends his team onto the field & "May the Best Roster Win!" He makes *no* in-game adjustments.
Ever. Haven't seen him make any in two years. His offensive _AND_ defensive coordinators were calling plays so bad everyone only wondered _when_ the collapse was coming not if. Sirianni just watched it all burn to the ground.
You have to understand: team owners do Not Know Football. They are *business* owners. If their coaches are inept, they won't know who isn't going to be a worse replacement. They would rather continue on with the mistake they made for fear of doing worse & exposing their ignorance. So ending up with a competent coach over a Staley or McDaniels is a crap shoot. Sirianni may have been good at calling offensive plays when he wasn't responsible for All Decisions but for the past two years he has acted as if he's terrified of trying anything new. & now Kellen Moore is his new OC.
The rest of the division would be laughing if any of them had competent rosters & coaches. None of them have both. Won't matter as the Rams & only NFCN teams will round out the wildcard spots.

He is so good. 49ers are my pick to win the SB, and have been all year. Love how he uses condensed, tight formations to bring the defense in and then manipulates with motion with his best players. A lot of coaches do things like this, but get predictable. He does a great job of allowing his QB to have the freedom to take different options within the scheme so that the defense can not get a read on what is coming based off formation, personnel, or pre-snap movement. It is interesting to see how many modern spread offenses are going away from spreading you out as far as they can back to condesing you down and marrying a lot of old school principles into modern scheme. Love it. Great breakdown.

I can’t stand those people. The dude was the last pick in the draft and he is steering the ship. He could crash and burn if he wasn’t good enough but that’s not the case. He has a great team around him, but that also includes himself

Purdy is so damned good! On the first TD to Aiyuk people have said that it wasn't a good pass but you can see that had he not led him as he did, #94 would've deflected the ball. Yes Aiyuk had to dive for it but he still caught it without outstretched arms. It pretty much hit him high on his chest as he was flying through the air. We've got our Franchise QB Faithful! I'm PSYCHED!

People honestly just look for ways to not give Purdy credit and I’m not sure why. It’s ok to have great playmakers around a QB, and for that QB to not just manage the game but to make the correct throws as well

Josh Sweat should have just gone straight up field and he would have been in Purdy's face when he turned around after the fake, but the D was on their heels after the first couple 9ers drives. Sure looks like Purdy is a keeper and the 9ers are going to the Super Bowl this year.

The dig on Shan is that he is suppose to be an Offense Wizard, he has had a top 3 D the last few years and hugely skilled players on Offense, and still hasnt been able to beat the league. This will go down as one of the biggest chokes in history. That and what the Patriots did to him in the 2nd half of the SB. Good Coordinator.

I don't even know what most plays are called but I'm very observant. I want you to look out for possibly the Weirdest Tendency of any coach I've ever seen & it's Shanahan's. Ready?
About 6 minutes into any second half of any game he has what I can only think is some sort of stress-reaction & starts calling a different game. A switch flips & he tenses up & he gets stuck in some weird rut. For most coaches this is triggered by the situation. McCarthy & McDermott's play-calling turns to sewage in important games, clutch situations. Shanahan seems to stiffen up at a specific time.
In '22 with Jimmy G. he seemed to simply shut down the offense. It was like he thought this was hockey & you couldn't play good defense while trying to score so he'd shut down the offense entirely. While he didn't do that once last season with Purdy, he _did do_ what he did in the S-B: inexplicably change all the play-calling & stick with it as he mentally couldn't switch back.
Look out for it _before_ telling me I'm wrong. Please.

Good question but no, that what they call a Tunnel Screen. Deebo catches the pass behind the line of scrimmage. The line is allowed to release down the field on any pass plays that are behind the line of scrimmage

Well you’re wrong. He was not the head coach when they went to the Super Bowl. That was Harbough.
And last year, they probably would have went if Purdy doesn’t get hurt. Everyone across the NFL thinks he is one of the best, and multiple teams are using his scheme that he has implemented. Just look at the Miami Dolphins, Rams, and Detroit Lions.
