As a niece of the Uncle Tony in this video I can also testify that every person needs an uncle Tony in their life he is the best!! Obvs Lloyd and Kayls are not bad too! 🤣
Had a bathroom the same size as yours. We had the bath where yours is currently, we put the shower where your toilet is, moved the toilet to where the sink is and had the sink where your radiator is. Flip the door so it opens the other way and you’re done. 😊
In Australia besides stand alone showers we also have showers in the bathtub. So if you did that you wouldn't lose space in the bathroom. You have a stand alone shower downstairs so you don't need a stand alone one upstairs. But by keeping the batb where it is and adding the shower to the wall you shower in the bath. Simples.
We just bought a house the same as yours and had the same problem with a door upstairs. We turned the door round so it opens onto the hallway as apposition to into the room and it’s perfect. Look forward to seeing your renovations. Happy to send you a video of the door situation x
My first thought about dropping the boiler downstairs was you need the gas flue onto an outside wall. I am not a gas engineer but there will be other rules around doing this, which dictate where it can go. Good luck moving it though, it doesn't really want to be in that wardrobe.
Is there anyway you could reconfigure the layout for the bedrooms so you could do an ensuite for the master bedroom? Just thinking if this is going to be your forever home it would be worth the effort and money.
Pocket doors are difficult if the wall is blockwork - you could just hang the existing door on the other side so it opens against the wall rather than into the room. You can create a pocket door by adding another false wall, but you will lose space either on the landing or in the bathroom.
I'd keep the shipping container if its in good condition, You could cut space in the side facing the house for windows and a door All it would need is installation and boarding out and a paint job outside.
I really wish I could however, I need a larger space for my work 😭 I even thought about buying an extra container and welding them together but it’s still wouldn’t be big enough 😔
Maybe a pocket door, if it has a decent lock. A barn door is cute, but not entirely practical in a bathroom location. An out-swing door might provide more of what you want, if an in-swing door doesn’t have enough space. You’re doing great on the reno, moving deliberately forward step by step!

@@lloydandkayls From personal experience - guests get twitchy with privacy concerns with bathroom barn doors. Figure out how you can lock it (if you hang it on the outside (landing) wall) to give them peace of mind.

Oooooh... now THAT'S not a bad idea at all!! Watch this space!

Good point! Didn’t even consider the loss of space. Barn door it is then! 😀

@lloydandkayls That's a shame but I look forward to seeing what you come up with 🙂
How about a folding door Lloyd

Thank you! Lots of options for that door. Other people are saying how difficult a pocket door is though. Hmm

Pocket door x
Barn door on the toilet and people will hear your farts. Maybe a smaller bath would fit in? Some of the new oval, taller but less long ones?
It’s a pocket door. I personally think a barn door looks so much nicer and it would be easier to achieve.
Ditto
That’s the phrase we were searching for! But yes, agreed. It’s gonna be a barn door if we change it!

Reverse the door and hinge it on the other side.
Not a bad idea!
Safety advice: Secure that pool and make it totally out of bounds with a 4 year old wandering about.
Absolutely. It's all secured, locked up with camera on it just for an extra layer of precaution.
