- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 9 ก.พ. 2025
- It took me about 6 days to install this 6" LIFT in my driveway because of my work schedule, I had to do it couple hours here and here to get it done, i should have taken 1-2 days off work but it is what it is lol ... also installed some sweet Tyger steps and a Softopper canopy, this thing looks beast now I love the look. Hope you guys enjoy this video, I included all the steps it took to Install the lift, so if you decide to do the lift yourself you will get an idea of the process, it's not hard just a lot of moving parts. I suggest following instructions on this one haha

FINALLY A TH-camR THAT DOES HIS OWN WORK.
A Dad teaching his son and getting work done. This world needs more dads like you because most of them buy the kid what they want and dont build their work ethic. In the real world, these kids are on their phones with out any idea what could come next. Me i am 13 but i started young practicing work ethic at a really young age because when reality hits, its a must have. You teach your son how to build this truck and he learns that he needs to pay attention because one day, he will need to teach his son the same thing. Not only did your son help you. But he earned work ethic. Most kids dont start at such a young age like yours. Props to you and great video😀👍
thanks brother, really appreciate it
Impressed with your calmness working not only on a car but with kids around. Kept cool the whole time. I drop the 10mm in the bay once or bust my knuckle trying to break an exhaust manifold bolt and I’m cussing up a storm ready to throw a chair through a wall😂
Haha do r worry I gave those moments when kids are not around
props for doing this at night with a head lamp. most people wont do it them self's with a garage.
Thx man, I actually like night working better, less eyes walking and driving around lol
This guy works really fast
The sidesteps were a great choice and that bedcover was a nice finishing touch.
thanks man, my fav look so far, and nobody has that look not that i have seen
Just got done putting the 4.5in on my sierra...used your video as homework and reference during my build. Thanks for the help!!!
Cleanest z71 I’ve seen. Love your style bro
Thank man
I watched start to finish the restore, paint, and lift install. I have to say my favorite part of the videos is when little man comes out to help pops with the hard labor. Good stuff bud. You've got way more than just 28k wrapped up in that truck. If it was mine i would never get rid of it and he'd drive it off to college one day.
Thank you really appreciate it :)) I have a price breakdown in the description of the full build
@@FixItNick oh no i know you got 28k bucks wrapped up in that. you also got time with jr invested as well.
Kids helping is awesome
That is one sharp looking truck man, and you teaching your boy to wrench is an icing on the cake.
Thanks bro, he's enjoying it
its so nice to see a child out there helping dad instead of his face stuck on a computer screen.
haha yes indeed, i keep him safe out there, but i let him play with things so his future is bright
I love the cover in the new tires and rims you put on there it makes the truck look so good
Thx bro, yea cover is convenient for my needs
That guy is gone looks awesome with those tires stuff on there
That’s awesome man .. in the driveway with a headlamp and kids everywhere lol and kept calm the whole build ! Love the wheel and tire combo !
Thx bro, need new shirt, keep calm and lift lol
Im actually rather glad you posted videos of this truck being built cause its my dream to have one of these ones
its a sweet truck, but get a 6.2 or a diesel if you can
FixItNick if it was up to me id get the 5.3 vortec
Most detailed install video I think I've ever watched. I can't imagine the time it took you to edit all of the footage. Keep it up 👍
Thanks man, yea it was some work. I was thinking to remake this video and cut it down to 10-12 min, I hope that’s possible to cram it in
Nah man leave it how it is. All the small details are what we need! The rear X Member cut was my problem area (instructions aren’t too detailed; Pro Como 6”)
Questions answered! Thank you sir!
Nice job Nick. Your little man will treasure these vids in 20 years... Looks like putting a lift on a Chevy is a lot more involved than an F-150.
Thx bro really appreciate it, remind me to never lift a Chevy again lol
Dude, it’s insane how you really do this all by yourself. Enjoy your videos man, keep up the awesome work & I would enjoy some more videos of you turning salvaged cars into beautys!!
thank you bro, appreciate it

Love the channel, have watched all your shed videos in lika 1 hour
thanks mate, i have a feeling i will have to do that shed series into one video after the shed is done
exactly what i was hoping for i just watched the build video never fails to impress me
ill be doing headliner install next, it finally got done, there will be something else ill be installing between headline and roof also...
Nice looking ride my man, I noticed the little boss man was checking in on you to make sure his truck is getting done to his satisfaction. 👍👍
haha yup, he loves that truck and loves me F350 project that i got, i think hes gonna love the F350 more cuz its gonna be a 4"straight pipe with a chip braaa!!
Definition of built not bought. Sweet build sir
Thanks bro
My ocd is going nuts over not having the Silverado badge on the driver door lol. But love the truck man. I wish I had the talent to rebuild a wrecked truck like you did
hahah trust me im crazy OCD, but couldnt decided if to badge both sides or debadge, i think ill debadge
FixItNick debadge would look real clean 👍🏻
Your son reminds me of myself at that age. Helping my dad replace brake pads and learning all the curse words ever made lol.
Ha ha no curse words here lol he’s an interesting kid lol
Great job on the video. I can’t imagine how much longer all the installs took in order to make such a detailed video.
Thx appreciate it!!
Great work man! I'm doing my '18 with a 6" BDS in my driveway next weekend and I hope it goes as smooth as yours did!!
Good luck bro wish you luck lol
Love the truck and once again great team work . See u have 3 team members now lol
thanks bro, yes both of them try to help here and there, the boy is more to it lol
I love the SoftTopper you put on it! It's very functional, and good looking depending on the truck, I think It completes the off-road style of this Z71!😁
Yea I love it too and let's truck stand out from all trucks
nice looking truck, just not crazy about the bed cover..
To each their own right? It's usability is why I got it, put down and up a lot for deliveries
I dont understand the usability is it just about having vertical space in the bed?
I think it juste look ugly on a nice truck like that
Deke1 same
Samuel Gregoire Same and after all it is a TRUCK ...
I think you deserve a lot of Subscribers to this channel

That bed cover looks sick!! I love it
Thx bro
Just found your channel now. Videos are very impressive and a very unique style with the time lapse only. You should maybe consider doing some commentary at some points. I was able to follow along with everything you were doing but your videos could be very resourceful to the newbie who might not understand at all points. Which considering you do all of this in your driveway... at night... with a headlamp... Shows all the guys afraid to do this stuff that its very much achievable with moderate hand tools and some persistence. Keep pumping out videos and I will continue to be a fan.
P.S. As a 19 year old who has been working in the shop with my dad since I was the age of your son. I feel for those parts of the videos A LOT. But when he gets older and IF he seems to lose interest in wrenching, don't force it on him. If he is this interested in it now I would guarantee he will come back. I left the shop for a few years when i was younger and I know my dad took it pretty hard. But I'm back in there now and I know my dad really enjoys the time we spend in there. Even though we never talk about it. Cuz you know dads and sons... We don't talk about that stuff. You have gained a subscriber sir. Keep up the good work!
thanks bro, really appreciate it, Actually what i did is i had a part 1, 2, 3, 4 etc for the build, then i had a 6 days series of the lift build and tried explaining things there etc, this video was just all of it together into one video. This way if someone doesnt want to watch different part videos they can just watch one video, or if they want to watch part 1 part 2 etc then can do that as well.
FixItNick Makes total sense. I just hadn’t seen the other videos yet. Carry on
Thx bro, enjoy :)
This is one of the best videos
been watching ur 7.3 videos alot u must live down south cause ur trucks r so clean
Thanks man, down south where? I’m in north CA
The only thing I saw you read the instructions on... was the bed cover.... lol Great job!
haha, dont worry there was a lot of lift instructions reading lol
Amazing man great work good looking truck and you did it all in your driveway unreal 🤜👌
Thank you
This kid will be like his dad great mechanic
I hope we build awesome things soon
Talk about going all out, nice build👍🏻
Thx bud
Thank you for allowing us to see your wealth.
Torey Young you’re gonna be a crybaby, because this guy worked harder than you? 😂😂
Great vid. That’s a lot of work. I think I would have sat on a pillow.
Last I'm doing Silverado 1500 4x4 lift ewww
Love the videos bro i have not got a clue about that pickup truck you are working on but the Transit van we do have in the UK . keep up the brilliant work you do
Thank you sir, they are all basically the same lol
Good job man that was an educating and interesting video!
Thank you, appreciate it
Thanks for the video. Way cool to watch! Must be nice working on new stuff, i live in the rust belt and only have 13+ year old vehicles.. That said, i was expecting you to cut off the rear U bolts lol!
lol I feel blessed feel bad for you guys I would so hate it
Just subscribed when I saw the restoration😊
thanks bro
You're pretty much welcome pal😊 Keep it up!
Watched the other vid of you repairing really enjoyed the vids
Thx I appreciate it
She came out awesome brother! Now just need some linex or carpet in the bed 👌 great job!!
Thanks
I love the whole truck. Only a couple trucks would look good with that bed and yours is one of them! But if it was up to me I might personally also put something on the front of the truck like some small bullbars or something like that. But it looks good without them!
thanks bro, i was thinking to do something custom, i still might not sure, but also wanted to cut a whole in the bumper for an LED bar to install flush with the bumper, will see
FixItNick that would look sick. Scratch my idea and do that. It would look great on your truck.
i love your videos man 👏🏾
Thank you appreciate it
no problem 😁
I hate changing my trucks oil without a lift, and you put a lift kit on in your driveway lol 🤯👍
haha i hate changing oil also
Your channel should be called car doctor you are clavier keep it up 👍
Thx lol,
Good job man 👏🏻👏🏻, nice rims and tires 😍
Thank you, love them on black truck, if truck was silver I would get black wheels
man.... you need a shop buddy and some wheel spacers for the rear of that chevy lol nice videos Nick
Thank you appreciate it, wish I can afford shop lol, spacers did :) th-cam.com/video/z3hbKfgT7MM/w-d-xo.html
What a skills you have, wish had same skills you had cuz I would turn my broken car into new. I have feeling that your little child would be machanic because I see how he fixing the truck with you🤙🤙.
Thx bro, anyone can have any skills they wish
That's an awesome truck! My dad and I are getting ready to build a 1966 jeep wagoneer, with the original blue paint. It's I think almost done with paint. We have a Silverado engine to put in it its gonna be awesome
Would be sweet

all i have to say is NICE TRUCK!!!!!
Thx bro

Greetings from mexico😊
Thx bro
I think the bed cover is sweet.
hermosa camioneta y todo las modificaciones que le hace, lo felicito muy bueno
What?
@@FixItNick he said beautiful truck and all the modifications that are left he also said congrats
Thx for translate
Idea very nice and beautiful..!
thanks bro
Wish you success and have many videos for everyone to enjoy..!
Love the progress you're making on the truck-looking pretty BA. So cool that you involve your son on the build, even if he doesn't know what is going on. BTW has anyone ever told you that you look like Jango Fett?
thank you lol and no they havent
Did you use a wheel dpacer in the back?
Didn't see that on the video.
Reason why i ask is because I'm thinking about lifting my Chevy 2500 and everybody says that you have to use a spacer in the back to even out the stance, chamois tend to stick out further in the front when there lifted.
Nice!! So I guess you can do an independent front end lift in the driveway. Great job!!
Haha yup, but it sucks
And then they bring it into the dealership saying it shifts funny lolol
Why would it shift funny? I actually wanna do 0-60 that thing rips from a dig
because when you change the tire size you change the rotational rate of the tires which makes the speed sensors inaccurate, the TCM programming calculates shifts at specific points based on engine outputs, driver input (throttle position, braking etc.) and vehicle speed. When any of those are not accurate the computer will be confused when to shift and can cause various shift concerns. It is possible to change the tire size data in the TCM but only to a certain size depending on the truck, but not anything this size. If you drive on rough terrain you might no feel the shifts as bad. I live in socal, and get trucks in all the time complaining about it.
ImyurZero I reprogrammed it for bigger tires
did you did anything different to the differential? i have 7inch with 35"s and its kinda sluggish lol
Well done!. Nice video!.
Thanks
i think it looks dope af with the bed cover on it, i think the wheels should be wider though other than that cover is fresh my g
Thx bro, didn't wanna over do it, these trucks have weak ball joins, u go to big start replacing them monthly lol
So...I thought 6” lifts and down were straight bolt on?? So is there a lot of modifications for 6” lift?
good job I liked your troca greetings from the city of guatemala
Need to also do a spray in bed liner
How hard would you rate doing the lift kit yourself? I have a good little bit of mechanical skills and i am very good at doing my own work to my vehicles. But I’m nervous about cutting on my 50k truck lol
Wow that's awesome but a lot of work!
Yup
How many hours do you think you had into installing this lift
it looks like you have the stamped steel control arms. have you had any issues with the ball joints?
Yes stamped, no issues
Looks really cool! Brush / bull guard next?
Hey nick did u tune and put a bigger gear ratio on it or what?
You should put the after market taillights
I was looking at few options, might do something
respect !! the only thing i don't like is the bed cover
i LOVE it lol ... yea some dont like it cuz its not as secure as a shell, but i take it down and up all the time a shell would not work for my needs, this works awesome
Watched my whole ProComp 6 inch lift get installed at 4 wheel parts and never saw so much cutting and welding or disk removal when being installed on my 2015 Z71 with 35’s. Wonder why the need.
I’m never buying another Chevy, such a headache to lift them, can’t wait to buy a Ram
Does this combo allow you still park in the garage? Looking for the measurement from sharkfin to ground. Looks great! Thanks
very good !! they take the bow from the front. if you have had an oval you have been spectacular !!!👍💪💪
Thanks man
Wow, you did all of this in 30 minutes?!? That is pretty impressive!
LOL wife still wondering why it took me a week haha
Nice job,truck turned out great!
thanks man
Hi Nick. So I have a little paradox. I bought 2017 Silverado z71 Lt with I asume 6 inch lift kit or maby 7 that's the paradox. It has 35'' tires. And TrailMaster 6 inch lift. But the coil spacer is 7 inches long. If who ever put the kit on used different coil spacer from 7 inch kit or something. So my front of the truck sits 1.5 inches higher then rear. NICK please help me figure it out. What size coil spacer is on your truck? Is it 6 or 7 inch? Thanks and Happy Father's day
I ment coil lift block the part that goes on top of the shock and coil. Sorry I suck at part names.
Sweet looking truck
thanks bro
Привет! Ваш сын будет настоящий механик!)))) класс!!!! С удовольствием смотрю ваши видео
Thank you sergey, Bydem rabotat!!
